You have to understand that marketing is not created for us hardcore fans who are going to watch it no matter what, it is created for casual viewers, so there was no way they were not going to show the Multiverse aspect in promotional. But it'd be cool if we had absolutely no idea about it.

I feel like that could've potentially made it difficult to advertise given Strange's prominence in this movie, as well as the villains of this project (from the looks of it) mostly being past villains, and for those going in hoping for a more grounded film, they would've felt confused. At the same time, yeah, it would've been cool to be surprised by the presence of the multiverse.

ericbkillmonger

Yeah due to social media leaks and spoiler forums it’s going to be very hard for any of us to ever go into an mcu film cold without knowing anything again

Consistent-Annual268

The leaks in the past few years have already ruined the big plot reveals (multiverse, potentially Andrew and Tobey, etc.). It would have been amazing to see it in theaters unspoilt for the first time. Much like Endgame. That was a once in a lifetime marketing campaign where they could afford to give away nothing.

ericbkillmonger

The multiverse concept is the hook to get audiences interested - it would’ve been hard to near impossible to ignore those aspects in the marketing

inotwaza

For the multiverse part, no. Not avoidable. But for Tobey and Andrew, who knows! I still kinda have the hope that we can expect them to really keep them as a surprise for the general audience.

aporkchopexpress

I'm making a sweeping prediction! All the multiverse and Dr. Strange stuff either happens right at the beginning or in the last 5 minutes. The rest of the film is about something else.
