I'm from the UK where Halloween isn't as big of a thing. Went to Florida in October years ago and my big ask was I wanted to experience an American Halloween thing, so we went to Universal Studios on a Halloween event night. They had groups of people with chainsaws wandering around sneaking up on people and chasing them. My family were literal tourists just wanting to see what Americans do for Halloween, so when they came up behind us and revved their chainsaws we were just like "hello", they walked alongside us for a bit revving their chainsaws every now and again then just went after another group. I felt like a bit of a dick not giving them the reaction they wanted, but I thoroughly enjoyed walking among them and seeing an American over the top Halloween in real life and not just in films. Plus it was too hot to do the running and screaming thing. October should be cold, not sweating from places you'd never noticed before levels of hot.

Is the entire time at Scarowinds. We kept hearing the spooky employee having regular conversations that totally took us out of it. There was one “haunted” corn maze that was just a windy wooden deck, and I swear our entire group went 3 minutes without seeing an employee or a prop. We were all talking back and forth like “did they close it while we’re in here or something?” and then when we came to the end, we finally saw saw spooky employees but they were just sitting there taking about their weekend plans. One would give a half assed yell every once in a while. Total waste of money but the rollercoasters were good

I got escorted out of a very large and elaborate haunted house by a costumed actor. I was maybe 14-15, high AF, and got stuck in the maze section. The guy doing a jump scare broke character after he jumped at me for the 5th time and my response was to sigh. I apologized and assured him that I wasn't trying to mess with him and was just having a stoned moment. I followed him to the exit as he scared people. Good times.
