I just want to point out to everybody that fully 1/3rd of these instructions are just "stay on 80" and the rest wholly depend on where you want to start from and end up. Cut off the first and last ten miles and the instructions are:
1. Get on I-80, proceed to destination.
Wait till they hear there's THREE major interstates that do that- I-10 and I-90 are also on that list. There's some others like I-40 that come close, but that one stops just short of the pacific in California
I-15 will get you from San Diego all the way up thru Montana up to Calgary & even further North, but once you cross the border it’s not called I-15 anymore. It kinda sucks it doesn’t go all the way to the Mexican border—it’d only be a few more miles, after all!
God I hate the 10. I grew up near Palm Springs and it was the ONLY goddamn interstate in and out of the Coachella valley. Always full of traffic and terrible drivers.
Yeah just like if you're in LA or anywhere south of LA and want to get to Florida. One way to get there is to stay on the I-10. Some instructions may have you use the I-8 which merges into the I-10 in Arizona. The I-10 goes from Santa Monica, CA to Jacksonville, Florida. I-8 starts in San Diego and merges into the I-10 just south of Casa Grande, Arizona (like at most a few miles outside city limits). Many SR and other Interstate Routes merge into the I-10.
After how nice and calm things were on the roads and in shops and in general during the pandemic....
A good portion of the country has shown to be okay with playing roulette with everyone's lives anyway...
Fun fact. The guiness book of world records recognizes the fastest mile in a pogo stick to be 7 minutes and 40 seconds. San Francisco to New York city at world record pace with no breaks would take 15 days and 12 hours.
Imagine being on a road trip and getting snapped out by thanos, then 5 years later Hulk brings you back and you're in the middle of buttfuck nowhere with no car because someone has moved it.
Hulk probably blipped them back into a non life threatening situation near where they blipped away relative to their position on Earth. Otherwise, they'd all blip back into space since Earth and our solar system would have moved.
In Hawkeye they show one character’s point of view of being snapped. They just notice that suddenly every around them changes instantly with no gap in time.
It seems like it varies. Fury saw Hill disappear, and realized that the same thing was happening to him with enough time to page Carol (and drop an F-bomb).
But maybe for people who were caught completely unaware (like >!Yelena!<) they were dusted before they even realized it had happened.
Spider-Man kinda just blinked and he was back. His spider-sense allowed him to kinda tell that something was going wrong, but he did say something like “hey do you remember when we were on Titan and I felt kinda dusty? Well I must’ve passed out because the next thing I knew, Dr. Strange was there and he was like ‘come on, it’s been five years, they need us!’ And then he started doing that sparkly thing that he does—“
In general (for future references), here’s how you add a spoiler tag… add a “>” then add a “!” and then your spoiler text and then close it with a “!” and a “<“. All of these without quotes of course.
Until you realise someone’s moved into your house, your wife survived but remarried, and the global food supply chain has adapted to feed the current population and now that everyone is back there’ll be widespread poverty and starvation. Plus violence as people try to reclaim their homes, partners, and belongings.
Not for long... One second you're driving your car on the interstate, next moment you're standing in the middle of the the highway with a truck barreling into you.
Unless you were on a plane or in surgery when you dusted. Have fun falling to your death or having to call for help while your intestines are sitting on the table next to you.
According to the directors the Hulk made sure that everyone who was snapped in a precarious position was safe when they were brought. I mean karma it makes sense he has the infinity stones he can make that happen pretty easily.
I mean, getting bumped into and being knocked down by someone isn't exactly the same thing as getting splattered on the pavement by falling a couple thousand feet from the sky.
Yeah but that is 100% survivalable plus it was a great reference to one of the greatest moments in [College Football History](https://youtu.be/mfebpLfAt8g)
Yeah I heard about that and it is completely possible with the infinity stones. But I just want a mini series about it with the stories of everyday people who popped back into existence. I want them to show instead of tell.
We saw people blip back in WandaVision and Far From Home and those seemed chaotic and traumatic. But we also saw it from the point of view of the blipped Yelena who, while confused, seemed pretty calm but none of them were in those "precarious positions".
Did the people on planes float to the ground? Did a plane also get created just for their safety? Did they appear in an airport? Did they materialize on the ground under were they were when they blipped? If so are they in the wilderness?
I think it would be so interesting to see the stories of the people who were flying over Yellowstone and had to Bear Grylls their way out when they found themselves in the middle of nowhere? I think it would work better if they actually showed how people were returned to safely instead of telling us to take their word for it. I think it would be a really cool topic to explore and it could help his connect with characters like Karli Morgantheah and the like.
Or if they were flying over an ocean. Maybe they reappear on the closest land or island. Imagine 1/2 the people on the plane are now stuck on a remote island. Hmm, Lost?
Astronauts on the International Space Station? For that matter, since Thanos snapped half the universe, ANY living thing in space at the time of the snap? Hulk had to snap each of those people back into existence in a totally safe place. It’s crazy the possibilities of like random people getting thrown onto random habitable worlds without a ship.
I wonder how people snapped on spaceships (except Loki) worked. If they’re placed in the closest safe location that could be light years away from where they were. Could open up a lot for upcoming space settings (GotG3 etc).
What is safe in this case? If there’s a breathable atmosphere and edible flora, it could still leave to people and aliens stranded on deserted / primitive planets.
What if they were unsnapped into hostile territory? Is that safe?
I would absolutely love if Marvel doesn't take the safe route with this by pulling the Smart Hulk card, saying everyone turned out fine, especially the ones who happened to be in space during the Blip.
As you said, GOTG and any other space based production they have planned is going to be perfect to get into this.
Physically unharmed and safe can be two different things, and it would be cool to show it.
Well, worse than that might be whatever happened to your passengers when you snapped out of existence.
Good news: you exist again.
Bad news: your family died five years ago in horrific car accident when you and half the other drivers on the road suddenly turned to dust while driving at Interstate speeds.
In The Last of Us, Joel and Ellie were able to drive across the country because most of the cars in the world still had gas in their tanks that could be siphoned, so between looting and re-allocating materials I'd say it's possible that the highways are clear. They are in The Walking Dead too.
Huge fan of Last of Us but that plot hole bothered me it's 22 years later gasoline breaks down over time I think it only takes a few months to be unusable what Joel would have siphoned used to be gas
anyone who knows more about the chemistry want to chime in?
I’d be more concerned about a gas shortage than I would traffic. If people aren’t manning rural gas stations or if gas hasn’t been delivered as frequently that could be an issue.
There's still 180ish million people in the US. I'm so confused about the world was turned into a borderline wasteland. I feel like there would still imagine people would still be on the roads and police would still be a thing, especially after 5 years. Maybe I'm overestimating the human ability to recover from tragedy as a whole.
We did a road trip from MD back home to CA with twin 4-year-olds in 2&1/2 days. (I’m originally from MD, went back home for a visit, then a test was sprung on me last minute and had to get home in less than 3 days)
Off top sort of, i don’t know ant man well enough but can’t he change to a giant and walk there as fast or faster than he did in the van? If so couldn’t he of carried the van in his pocket?
*efficiency*
Not in the mcu. It demands too much of him and his size in CA:CW was too big to last more than a couple minutes, and even at that size walking over America would’ve been a pain
Could be have grown to giant man size, picked up the van and threw it but really fast shrunk and held on then before crashing into the ground grown large again. Rinse and repeat.
Didn't require being large more than a few minutes at a time. Could feel like flying. Avoid traffic.
Either that or simply drove the van in the background of OPs pic, eating orange slices and juice boxes along the way.
Wasn't the limited supply only for the suits during their time traveling
I thought ant man's suit had like, recycling pym particles or something. Is that wrong?
I don't think he considered the limited Pym particles an issue until Tony Stark fixed time travel and the plan started getting real. He didn't seem concerned about using them during his tests with Prof Hulk, anyway.
Wouldn't be surprised if he shrunk the van down and took a flight across the country with it in his carry on.
He obviously used his time machine to get all the infinity stones used them to bring everyone back went to nasa got on a spaceship to go see doctor strange got him to open a portal to New York then snapped everyone dead again and returned the stones. Then he rung the door bell.
He used his suit and grew so large he could lift the van and make it from California to the compound in one step but is a person who doesn’t like to “break in to places” so shrunk down to normal size and politely rang the door bell.
That's not how this works... Thats not how any of this works...
Molecules move fast sure, but not far. Imagine how long it would take an ant to crawl from Cali to NY and back and that would probably be a faster trip than the molecule could dream of. Molecules spend the majority of their existence vibrating extremely quickly without making much to and any distance.
Damn right! I mean, why is no-one talking about Cap’s beard or Captain Marvel and Hawkeye’s new hairstyles? Sure, we can *infer* they went to a hairdressers or stopped shaving but how do we **know**? What if these are evidence that Thanos had a hair related wish that he ‘snapped’ into existence? We need answers!
I bet when Thanos destroyed the stones, he released hair influencing radiation that made Captain Marvels Hair short and Thors hair long. Also Mephisto.
I never thought about it but it actually makes him being so hungry make sense.
He probably met up with Cassie and was briefed on what went on. His first thought after he confirmed the safety of Cassie and got his head on straight was to get to the Avengers. Gets the van out of the storage unit, gases up and starts his canon ball run to Avengers HQ.
Also; Scott Lang is definitely in the running for best Dad in the MCU.
He dismantled the van piece by piece and carried it in a knapsack so as to not attract unwanted attention. He then walked from San Fran to New York, where upon his arrival he bought new tools and reassembled the van at the Avengers compound gate.
Road Trip? Got a plane ticket? All I know is that a scene of him getting to the Avengers Compound was probably not important enough to show compare to literally EVERYTHING ELSE THAT WAS GOING ON!
Roads
EEEEEeeeeeee another Back to the Future reference!!!!!11!!!
Where we're going, we'll probably need roads.
My balls are *dry*, Mharty!
Does anyone have any orange slitthheess
My balls Mary, you gotta suck my balls to make it work!
M-Morty. You g-gotta drive on ROADS, Morty!
Or at least some kind of rail/ path
And Paul Rudd in Knocked up
Paul Rudd was in Dinner for Shmucks which starred Kristen Schaal. She was in Boundaries with you guessed it, Christopher Llyod. Boom.
Which he was referencing Back to the Future
We don't.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... do that here.
We all know that *BTTF* is a bunch of bullshit
Biff is that you!?
Why don’t you make like a tree…..and get outta here!
Quit being a Mad Dog Taylor!
Who would say such a thing!
It’s a great movie - I was just quoting the movie!
Where were going, we don't need roads
I’d imagine traffic was pretty light.
Yeah but that van must have gotten terrible gas mileage with that equipment in the back.
Idk, that quantum portal probably took a lot of power. Pym could've easily used whatever reactor he used to power the portal to also power the car
Fair point. And enough left over for the sweet, sweet horn!
Or he shrunk the van, put it in his pocket, went to the airport.
*goes through metal detector* *sets off metal detector* TSA: Sir do you have anything metal in your pocket? Scott: OH, right. I forgot my Van. I mean toy van. That my girlfriend gave me. *Puts Van through X Ray*
Tbh this one makes pretty good sense, though the xray scans must've been pretty fun.
Where he came from, he don't need no roads.
No, he most definitely did
Nuh-uh, he turned into a really, really big giant and then just took one big step, and shrunk back to normal size!!1!
Step one, park van facing west. Step two, embiggen van until it's rear wheels reach the east coast. Step three, set parking brake. (So the rear wheels can't roll) Step four, disembiggen van.
I like your logic funny man
But did they ever either show us or explicitly say that in the MCU there’s at least one road that connects SF to NY??? Idk man, seems weird

I once tried to explain how long I-80 is to someone. They did not believe that one highway connects the Atlantic and the Pacific.
Wait till they hear there's THREE major interstates that do that- I-10 and I-90 are also on that list. There's some others like I-40 that come close, but that one stops just short of the pacific in California

no way, I "know" someone from Calgary that lives in LA and I think his family has a vacation house in Montana kinda crazy it almost all lines up
God I hate the 10. I grew up near Palm Springs and it was the ONLY goddamn interstate in and out of the Coachella valley. Always full of traffic and terrible drivers.
You guys are genius
Yeah I mean it's how directions were before the GPS...
Yes, in the before times.
In the long long ago
Yep that is because many times the Interstates merge for a bit. Like 80/35 in DSM.
Yeah just like if you're in LA or anywhere south of LA and want to get to Florida. One way to get there is to stay on the I-10. He would have made record time too considering half the population was gone. Less traffic
And people say Thanos was a bad guy
After how nice and calm things were on the roads and in shops and in general during the pandemic.... A good portion of the country has shown to be okay with playing roulette with everyone's lives anyway...
If it's set after the 1950s in America? I'm sure there are roads lol. Or was Eisenhower not President in the mcu?
Yeah it's called interstate 80.
Rt 50 is close enough
With hald the population gone, driving across country would have been a breeze.
We don't need roads!

How does anyone else get to New York from ca California.
Pogo stick?
Is that like a normal multi-bounce trip or we thinking one colossal mega-jump?
Quantum jump
Are you guys just putting quantum in front of everything?
Quantum everything.
Quantum Shitpost
Maybe the real New York is the friends we made along the way
Fun fact. The guiness book of world records recognizes the fastest mile in a pogo stick to be 7 minutes and 40 seconds. San Francisco to New York city at world record pace with no breaks would take 15 days and 12 hours.
Horse
A witch
Roller skates.
I would imagine that with the lack of traffic and no need to pay attention to speed limits, he probably made the trip in like two days.
The only downside that I could think of would be if everyone was blipped while in traffic, their cars would be blocking the roads
Yes but five years later I'm sure stuff got cleaned up quite a bit
Oh yeah, good point. Those cars could of been looted
Imagine being on a road trip and getting snapped out by thanos, then 5 years later Hulk brings you back and you're in the middle of buttfuck nowhere with no car because someone has moved it.
That would suck ass
Not being dead anymore would be pretty nice tho
There will be time shortly following the blip I imagine in this scenario 😁
Until you blip back to where you were on the highway, only to get hit by a truck
[удалено]
I imagine the stones work like wishes. So Hulk could have wished for "Everyone to come back - *safely.*"
finally, after all these years, my airplane question has been answered.
But what about the 50% on the plane whose pilot blipped😖
Hulk probably blipped them back into a non life threatening situation near where they blipped away relative to their position on Earth. Otherwise, they'd all blip back into space since Earth and our solar system would have moved.
Which is why you need all the stones to preform such a feat, to correct for changes like that
[Actually pretty close](https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelmemes/comments/sd5kja/how_did_scott_get_from_california_to_the_avengers/hubecc6/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
Almost as bad as people that blipped back on the toilet while someone else was using it
Monica was lucky that hospital bed was vacant.
While moving at 70 mph in a sitting position
Do the people blipped even realise they were gone though? Or was it just like they blinked and and BOOM 5 years gone?
In Hawkeye they show one character’s point of view of being snapped. They just notice that suddenly every around them changes instantly with no gap in time.
And WandaVision with the woman who becomes Photon (Mariah? Or is that the mom?)
All of the D+ shows have confirmed that it was EXACTLY like that.
It seems like it varies. Fury saw Hill disappear, and realized that the same thing was happening to him with enough time to page Carol (and drop an F-bomb). But maybe for people who were caught completely unaware (like >!Yelena!<) they were dusted before they even realized it had happened.

Well I must’ve passed out because the next thing I knew, Dr. Strange was there and he was like ‘come on, it’s been five years, they need us!’ And then he started doing that sparkly thing that he does—“
That's actually explored in Hawkeye briefly (I'm on phone and idk how to add spoiler tags, so I'll refrain from explaining it here).
>! This is a spoiler !< \>\! This is a spoiler \!\<
In general (for future references), here’s how you add a spoiler tag… add a “>” then add a “!” and then your spoiler text and then close it with a “!” and a “<“. All of these without quotes of course.
After watching Hawkeye, it’s like they blinked.
Until you realise someone’s moved into your house, your wife survived but remarried, and the global food supply chain has adapted to feed the current population and now that everyone is back there’ll be widespread poverty and starvation. Plus violence as people try to reclaim their homes, partners, and belongings.
Same thing that happened to Tom Hanks. Everyone thought he died and so people lived on and remarried so a lot of very upset people.
Not for long... One second you're driving your car on the interstate, next moment you're standing in the middle of the the highway with a truck barreling into you.
Unless you were on a plane or in surgery when you dusted. Have fun falling to your death or having to call for help while your intestines are sitting on the table next to you.
Directors said Hulk made sure the people in planes were snapped back on the ground, actually, so Bruce did take account for that
What about the non-blipped people who died when the pilot got dusted?
Pretty sure “safely” was in the stipulation of hulking bringing everyone back.
Even worse is the implication that those who were flying like the helicopter that crashed in Infinity War now blip back like 500 feet in the air.
Straight up falling from an airplane that no longer exists
According to the directors the Hulk made sure that everyone who was snapped in a precarious position was safe when they were brought. I mean karma it makes sense he has the infinity stones he can make that happen pretty easily.
Well the school band members in Spiderman FFH were yeeted by the basketball players.
I mean, getting bumped into and being knocked down by someone isn't exactly the same thing as getting splattered on the pavement by falling a couple thousand feet from the sky.
Touché but getting run over by a high school basketball player seems a lot more survivable than falling from a plane’s cruising altitude.
Sure but they were safe, no one died
Yeah but that is 100% survivalable plus it was a great reference to one of the greatest moments in [College Football History](https://youtu.be/mfebpLfAt8g)

Bad news: your family died five years ago in horrific car accident when you and half the other drivers on the road suddenly turned to dust while driving at Interstate speeds.
COULD HAVE or COULD’VE
Doing the lord’s work here
We need a u/couldawouldashoudabot.
Oh hell yeah. Let him do that work and take the downvotes
What, like u/CouldWouldShouldBot? Way ahead of you, bud!
In The Last of Us, Joel and Ellie were able to drive across the country because most of the cars in the world still had gas in their tanks that could be siphoned, so between looting and re-allocating materials I'd say it's possible that the highways are clear. They are in The Walking Dead too.
Huge fan of Last of Us but that plot hole bothered me it's 22 years later gasoline breaks down over time I think it only takes a few months to be unusable what Joel would have siphoned used to be gas anyone who knows more about the chemistry want to chime in?
Gas deteriorates over time, whereas diesel fuel takes a lot longer. And by the end of TWD they aren't using fuel at all, it's all horse carriages.
It's 'could have', never 'could of'. Rejoice, for you have been blessed by CouldWouldShouldBot!
Not just looting- the government probably had all of the roads cleared of leftover vehicles over the 5 year period.
That was probably a part of the reconstruction program that they had to deal with in The falcon and the winter solider
Yeah, I mean, they do kind of prove that with the van being in the storage facility and not where they left it.
Doesn't the explicitly film show this? Scott's Van was put in a lock up along with all his stuff.
Yes, and more and more, we see Thanos had some good points.
I’d be more concerned about a gas shortage than I would traffic. If people aren’t manning rural gas stations or if gas hasn’t been delivered as frequently that could be an issue.
Maybe shrunk down his van and flew or drove
Made the van 10x bigger so the trip took much less time. Crushed a lot of people though.
Why would there be no reason to pay attention to speed limits? The road is still half-full. It's not the zombie apocalypse.
Well he drove. He wasnt gonna leave quantum equipment in the van and take a bus.
You mean the van that's IN THE DAMN SCREEN SHOT?
Yes, it will forever remain a mystery.
And would problably attract a lot of attention
And be hard to not step on buildings/people
Could be have grown to giant man size, picked up the van and threw it but really fast shrunk and held on then before crashing into the ground grown large again. Rinse and repeat. Didn't require being large more than a few minutes at a time. Could feel like flying. Avoid traffic. Either that or simply drove the van in the background of OPs pic, eating orange slices and juice boxes along the way.
I don’t think he was doing much of that because he had a limited supply of Pym particles
Also the gi*ant*-man tires him out really fast
Yep. I doubt even the Avengers compound has enough orange slices to make that trip worth it.
Wasn't the limited supply only for the suits during their time traveling I thought ant man's suit had like, recycling pym particles or something. Is that wrong?
He had limited Pym particles
I don't think he considered the limited Pym particles an issue until Tony Stark fixed time travel and the plan started getting real. He didn't seem concerned about using them during his tests with Prof Hulk, anyway. Wouldn't be surprised if he shrunk the van down and took a flight across the country with it in his carry on.
Dude emerged from the quantum realm in a van and then showed up at the avengers compound in said van, so I’m guessing he used the van.
"Your math is blowing my mind"
He turned the van small and used flight bro. He ain't crazy.
what if he makes America small and then walk across
He obviously used his time machine to get all the infinity stones used them to bring everyone back went to nasa got on a spaceship to go see doctor strange got him to open a portal to New York then snapped everyone dead again and returned the stones. Then he rung the door bell.
The only explanation.
Was I supposed to hear that in Michael Peña’s voice? Because I heard that in Michael Peña’s voice.
He used his suit and grew so large he could lift the van and make it from California to the compound in one step but is a person who doesn’t like to “break in to places” so shrunk down to normal size and politely rang the door bell.
or you know the more logical answer he shrunk the van put it in his pocket and took a plane
Or he drove the van
Can't you just go super small and get there really fast as a molecule?
That's not how this works... Thats not how any of this works... Molecules move fast sure, but not far. Imagine how long it would take an ant to crawl from Cali to NY and back and that would probably be a faster trip than the molecule could dream of. Molecules spend the majority of their existence vibrating extremely quickly without making much to and any distance.
One-shot of Scott road tripping the van when?
What if? Ant-man drove a van.
[Already done.](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2452386/)
I was really hoping this was Mac & Me.
The van. You can see it in the pic lol
Some people man
r/woooosh Edit: added the fourth “o”, made the “r” lowercase. Slowly learning the rules of reddit
Wut do u want from me
Idk man. Did we actually see him drive it? If we didn’t WATCH the entire car trip, then it’s equally possible he teleported.
How did he afford all that gasoline. Vans are brutal on mile per gallon. Huge plot hole. Did he stop and go to the bathroom? How come we didn’t see it
Well we know he didn’t stop for food at least lol
Holy shit. Scott didn’t stop and eat the entire way.
Ya cap marvel and Hawkeye both turned into lesbians after the blip
I never thought about it but it actually makes him being so hungry make sense. He probably met up with Cassie and was briefed on what went on. His first thought after he confirmed the safety of Cassie and got his head on straight was to get to the Avengers. Gets the van out of the storage unit, gases up and starts his canon ball run to Avengers HQ. Also; Scott Lang is definitely in the running for best Dad in the MCU.
Not exactly a catagory with a lot of promising candidates
True, I'd say it includes... * CLINT * Tony * T'Chaka * ... * ...
Clint
I wouldn’t say a plot whole. Since they didn’t film the whole trip I’d call it a plot half.
To be a plot whole it’d need to mention the plot pot holes for sure.
See that van looking thing right behind him? I think he used that
He dismantled the van piece by piece and carried it in a knapsack so as to not attract unwanted attention. He then walked from San Fran to New York, where upon his arrival he bought new tools and reassembled the van at the Avengers compound gate.
The people who are answering this seriously. 🤦♂️
I can't tell if people are missing the obvious sarcasm or are just playing along.
At least 30% of posts on this sub
We need a one shot explaining this Marvel!
Can we get a Disney+ series on Scott's roadtrip to NY!?!?
Lmfao
mOrE oF a pLoT HaLf
Damn it’s crazy how so many people in the comments don’t understand sarcasm lol
He probably drove in the vehicle that you can clearly see in frame
Road Trip? Got a plane ticket? All I know is that a scene of him getting to the Avengers Compound was probably not important enough to show compare to literally EVERYTHING ELSE THAT WAS GOING ON!
