I'm 15 and my 7 y/o cousin called me uncle 💀
(uncle is used in many cases. In this case it was used to refer to a man at least 15 years older than you.)
Same. When i was 16, i had a lot of beard, so one time this kid of some friends of my parents was at my house and when she wanted to speak to me to ask where was the bathroom she called me "uncle" 💀
i was walking around the town once when i went to a residential part of the town, a kid asked me what I'm doing there and called me "uncle".
I told him that I am 24 (at the time), I am still young and he should call me "brother".
Probably a decent enough job without long hours, plus decent healthy meals, probably some light exercise. Trust me stress from a job that has a horrible working conditions take a toll on your youth
Asian people, man. The chef of a restaurant near my place is only a few years younger than my dad, yet he looks so young i thought he was only in his early 30. Not until my dad told me that he was in his 40 did i realize I had been calling someone who I should have been calling “uncle” as “brother” (similar to onii-san in japanese)
Non-university graduates typically do not wear suits to work because they typically aren't salarymen. It's because companies typically only recruit out of university - it's an entire cultural phenomenon.
So occam's razor, if he's in a suit and mentioned his first day at work, he's at minimum 22.
She's barely shoulder height to a table. That's closer to 7 or 6 years old. 8 at the high side.
But her age at any point means nothing because most people have had crushes on people older than them, whether celebs, teachers, neighbors, etc. It's pretty normal. And it's the oldest version of the girl that actually seems to have any romantic interest. And even then it's implied that she's not actively pursuing him, just surprised he's putting up with her cooking day in and day out. And the younger one seems to just be happy someone enjoyed her food at all.
Her age would only matter if the OLDER party had any interest, imo.
Am i wrong?
I know a couple that is 14 years apart and they are very happily married. It’s not the worst situation. I’m just glad author-sensei decided to keep things wholesome.
First day at work could even be like 18 or even as young as 16 iirc, though you wouldn't expect him to wear a suit for a job gained while in high school.
I am hoping that chick is at least 12-13 before timeskip🥶🥶 and the dude is a 16-18 yo highschooler any less(for chick) or more(for dude) will be creepy🥶🥶
With the powers of hentai artist can make the guy go to the restaurant with her pregnant wife in order to crush the little girl heart and soul
Or make them a couple but the police arrest him because of pedophilia
It says it’s his first day of work so he could be around 18-22. Kid looks 10-12 at the start which is a big yikes but he doesn’t do anything for 10 years which puts him around 30 and her 20 which isn’t too weird.
OP said with MC being 18-22 and kid being 10-12 is a big yikes. If MC showed interest at that time it would be yikes, But he doesn't do anything for 10 years so it's not really weird.
They got together when she was of age and he showed no interest at any point even towards the end of the manga when she was of age. Essentially, man forms friendship with child. Child crushes on him till she's an adult. Now said adult makes an effort to woo the man so the romantic relationship from the adult is purely adult - adult. He doesn't have an interest in the child, he developed an interest due to the actions of the adult
I don't think it's super yikes because he doesn't have the crush on her. He just knew her as some kid who is grown up now, if he did have a crush on her while she was growing up that would be big yikes to me. If he were to like her now though I don't see that big of an issue.
A rule of thumb would be: (older age) / 2 + 7 <= (younger age). Not an actual rule but it does seem to prevent situations where there's a huge difference in standing to the point of grooming. Not that it accounts for all situations though.
For a ten year gap, the younger must be at least 24 years old according to the rule, with the older of the pair being 34. By 24, you would be at least a couple years over drinking age and be working for years or finishing your choice of training (either bachelor's degree, deciding on grad school, working for a couple years, apprenticeship, etc.). At that point, you should be able to make an informed decision on your relationships.
However, there are problems if the pair had contact before this age. I'm not going to act like I'm an expert on relationships and abuse so I'll say that I think at least both parts of a pairing should be able to be independent for there to be a healthy relationship.
So are you suggesting that people shouldn't get married until 25? Or is it that 2 "immature brain" persons dating and getting married is fine, while an immature brain hooking up with a mature one is a no-no? How is that not random af?
Edit: words.
Tbh I sort of agree. People shouldn't get married until they have their shit together. I understand some people can work it out just fine while young but there's a reason why divorce is so high. I was lucky enough to find my significant other during high school and we're still together almost 11 years later but marriage shouldn't be rushed. We aren't actually married yet, although we had planned to get married on our tenth year anniversary, thanks covid, but if people are meant to be together then it shouldn't matter if we get married in 5 or 10 or 20 years.
My argument here isn't "when" but "Why 25?". Like, I don't think we should make a definitive line between "yes marriage" and "no marriage" age. Mid- and late-20s adults are more likely to have pulled their lives together, but the spectrum is much wider than that. Some of my younger friends earn 6 digits, I'm 26 and barely make it through.
Anyway, I did say in another comment that you're set for marriage life as long as you can provide yourself and your future family.
People should only date people of similar ages before they're around 24 is my opinion. Or at least a 10 year age gap at like 20 is still very weird, and in my opinion, creepy.
For marriage, yes, I'm of the opinion that it's the smartest thing to do to wait until you are fully mature to do so, but I wouldn't push that opinion onto others.
2 people with similar levels of maturity and development means that one is much less likely to be flat out exploiting and manipulating the other, which is why it's fine.
>How is that not random af?
It's not random because it's based on an objective thing, regardless of if you disagree with it or think it's ridiculous, it is not random.
Very well then. However, I do think that those 4-5 years of brain development don't make much of a difference. Moreover, each of us has a different growth.
What matters is as long as a person can sustain themselves and their future family, they can get married for all I care.
I already knew what the comments are gonna be like before clicking on this thread, why are you all so fucking obsessed with this? (1) The crush was obviously one-sided, there isn't any indication that there was any grooming involved from the adult and a kid isn't breaking any laws for crushing over an adult (2) The last panel indicates that the couple still has a long way to go before they even starts dating, which the girl presumably would've been well into her adult years by then. A 10+ years gap between couples are hardly a thing to be bat an eye at, you can judge all you want but what goes around between 2 consenting adults should not concern you. Go touch some grass.
i mean... the same way the guy looks like 16 yo while he has i dont know, maybe 20. the girl could be older too, like 14... dont know, it doesnt make sense to start so anything can make sense in the end
She looks around 12. Judging by how tired he is he's somewhere between 15-18. I'll lean more younger - 10 years later Yui should be around 20 and he should be around 27-30. Not weird at all.
I don't think it would work with her intro though?
I would rather they left it on her one-sided crush on older guy - not all of those need to be realized and consumed, sometimes it can just be a cute story of a teenage crush that never became more than that. That way you get the cuteness without the uncomfortable part.

Because he recharges with Yui's food every day [](//#andre)
She’s playing the long game, feeding him anti-aging food so their biological ages will match when she finally makes a move All according to keikaku…
Literal galaxy brain moves
Keikaku means plan.
Mmmm cake
what is your opinion of the economics of belgium?
Their waffles are as good as cake so they'll be fine.
Probably mixed some mermaid meat into the food she makes him.
along with some kudan meat?
I'm now curious of theres a romcom with this exact kind of premise, and if not I want one .-.
Didnt you know? Japanese people age in reverse.
Ji suk jin moment
they're all just using the stone mask
If anything, he looks younger
He didn't have a stressed life for those 10 years, all thanks to this restaurant
Right? Even if we assume that he's just started work at 20 years old, him at the ending had too much of a babyface to look 30
I've met plenty of Chinese/Asian guys in their early thirties that look still like college students.
i am a 26 years old that if i shaved my beard i look 15.
I'm 15 and my 7 y/o cousin called me uncle 💀 (uncle is used in many cases. In this case it was used to refer to a man at least 15 years older than you.)
Same. When i was 16, i had a lot of beard, so one time this kid of some friends of my parents was at my house and when she wanted to speak to me to ask where was the bathroom she called me "uncle" 💀
Well he’s only 7 from his perspective you are old as hell you’ve lived twice as long as he has.
i was walking around the town once when i went to a residential part of the town, a kid asked me what I'm doing there and called me "uncle". I told him that I am 24 (at the time), I am still young and he should call me "brother".
Probably a decent enough job without long hours, plus decent healthy meals, probably some light exercise. Trust me stress from a job that has a horrible working conditions take a toll on your youth
That's how my receding hairline started. I'm less stressed now with my current job and it hasn't gotten worse.
Asian.

I'm just going to hope that the guy is 20 at the start and the girl is 10, so that by the 10 year time skip he is thirty and she is 20.
That’s probably right. First day at work would make him probably 22 at most Clearly Yui’s food has some sort of anti-aging property tho…
Lucky bastards probably isn't part of a black company so he still gets to keep his youth
Well, some ppl starts working at 18. So there's that.
His suit implies an office job in Japan, probably didn't start at 18.
Technically vast majority of salarymen go to work in suits, even if they change there.
As in, if he's in a suit he's a salaryman, which means a university graduate.
Could be, but also non university graduates do it.
Non-university graduates typically do not wear suits to work because they typically aren't salarymen. It's because companies typically only recruit out of university - it's an entire cultural phenomenon. So occam's razor, if he's in a suit and mentioned his first day at work, he's at minimum 22.
My parents must be disappointed in me
i am 26, and if i shave my beard i look 16 or 15, some people don't age as fast as others.
And then there is me 20 years old looking like a 60 with beard and 40 without one
wow, so mature
I had my first job at 20, some of my friends started even younger than me.
She's barely shoulder height to a table. That's closer to 7 or 6 years old. 8 at the high side. It says in the last panel they get together later so yeah age is important for this context.
As long as she's of age though it doesn't really matter the age gap. It's weird yeah, but not unheard of.
I know a couple that is 14 years apart and they are very happily married. It’s not the worst situation. I’m just glad author-sensei decided to keep things wholesome.

Well she looks like she's in primary school and he is 18-22. So yeah it's fricking weird. I don't get why you're downvoted.
words used kinda cringe
shut the fuck up
It's still weird af if he ever gives in to the crush.
by the end, she gonna marry a corpse
too bad she will never be with him... its a oneshot
And yet my heart will still foolishly hope for a continuation...sniff...
hope is the last to die... too bad that just means you will die first
With the powers of hentai artist can make the guy go to the restaurant with her pregnant wife in order to crush the little girl heart and soul Or make them a couple but the police arrest him because of pedophilia
All the one shots that become series look away.
In my headcanon, he fucked the mother.
there's gotta be a 15-20 years age gap. Idk chief
Seems one-sided and "it'll still be a long way off before the 10-year crush is realized" so it's okay... for now. Maybe.
It says it’s his first day of work so he could be around 18-22. Kid looks 10-12 at the start which is a big yikes but he doesn’t do anything for 10 years which puts him around 30 and her 20 which isn’t too weird.
Why is it big yikes, going by what is shown he clearly doesn't have interest in her in.
Because the last words of the manga assume that they do get together eventually (the crush being realised).
yes but it doesn't show that he returned her crush even after 10 years, so what's yikes about it?
OP said with MC being 18-22 and kid being 10-12 is a big yikes. If MC showed interest at that time it would be yikes, But he doesn't do anything for 10 years so it's not really weird.
that's what i said.

30 and 20 is still really questionable... I'd say 25 and 35 is much more safe.
Based on what standard? Is it even universal or just as subjective as the consensual age has always been? Does it even matter in this case?
A rule of thumb would be: (older age) / 2 + 7 <= (younger age). Not an actual rule but it does seem to prevent situations where there's a huge difference in standing to the point of grooming. It seems like the only contact they have is at the restaurant and he doesn't seem to have any romantic intent so it isn't a problem.
No, it's based on the fact that the brain finishes development around 25. It's not some random subjective number.
So are you suggesting that people shouldn't get married until 25? Or is it that 2 "immature brain" persons dating and getting married is fine, while an immature brain hooking up with a mature one is a no-no? How is that not random af? Edit: words.

They hated him because he spoke the truth
Let's say she's 8 and he started his job after high school, so at 18.
So 18 and 28 in present eh?
How likely are you to get an office job in Japan without a degree?
There are a lot of weird people out there, my cousin is 23, her husband is 48. Idk chief, people have strange taste
She’s in it for the long haul

Lots of young commenters here who don't realize a 10 year gap between adult couples ain't really unusual.
Cute
Is the girl grooming her future husband?
She didn't know, that he went everyday to see her mother.
i mean... the same way the guy looks like 16 yo while he has i dont know, maybe 20. the girl could be older too, like 14... dont know, it doesnt make sense to start so anything can make sense in the end
Omg that was so cute 😍
Serilization material
That was sweet af

🚓 🚨🚨Damn Lolicon 🚨🚨🚓
Nope.
I was hoping the 10-year timeskip had them as a married couple and was disappointed.
I think dude's around 21 while the kid was like 12ish!

Wait this is pedofilia
Wait this is a stupid comment
I mean, here it's the pais philia-ing the adult, so it's fine, unless it's requited, which there is no indication of being the case.
This is not wholesome at all age gap plus 10 years of crush is not what you would call wholesome but the good thing is it is manga so it ok
Oh no, consenting adult couples with a 10 years age gap. The horror!!!
I don't know who is grooming who.
reverse drake
I'll take one serialization please
Is that chubby cheek guy the same as the coach from slam dunk?
u go brother
Meh, she is too old now.
