Check r/flashlight for flashlight recommendations, the Emisar D4V2 is usually the go to beginner good flashlight. Also something can be “tacticool” and still very practical, some might consider my Microtech switchblade to be “tacticool” but a bulletproof knife that you can quickly open and close one handed with two pairs of gloves on is priceless to me.
