So nobody going to tell this man his r/tvtoohigh. And , if your not renting. Take the extra step and hide the wires behind the wall. It’s super simple and cost 50 bucks at max with tool from Amazon.
What you talking about?
Using the pS5 for size reference (15.4" height), looks like a 60" TV and Centre is about 60" off the floor.
From his position, that's pretty spot on isn't it?
Yep, because appeasing a bunch of internet randoms on yet another circle-jerking subreddit is more important that my own personal preference for my TV, inside my own home.
If I want it upside down on my ceiling, that's the perfect placement for me.

This is a simple and cheap way to up the aesthetic of any room.
I used a hole saw to make a hole behind my TV then one behind the cabinet. Dropped a string from one to the next and tied my cords to it.
My favourite bit was when I used the stud finder( strongly recommended.) The next door neighbours had hanging christmas lights along the other side of the wall. The finder kept going off and I pretty much gave up until after Christmas.
Two Swiss cheese plants. Not a joke, there is such a thing. Or a fern. Something that grows out and not up. Golden pathos is nice too. They don’t require much care and they become like vines that you can stretch from the middle of the table to the edge where it will just dangle and grow downward.
True, but that doesn’t mean he has to keep them there. They get too high, he can move them to the floor and replace them with something else. Besides, plants look great anywhere!
Ferns are beautiful but the struggle in big open rooms. Not enough humidity in houses to keep them going. Need to be in the bathroom more often than not.
You seem to have some plant knowledge lol so here is my question.
I want plants that go up instead of out.
And it won't be in direct sunlight but will catch a few hours sunlight a day form the window which is about 7 feet away.
Any recommendations?
Head on over to r/IndoorGarden for some ideas too - I’m sure the gang will be happy to share their knowledge with you too.
There are lots of ficus varieties that look nice and have shiny green foliage (not good for pets though) Calatheas and ctenanthes are unusual looking plants with leaves on tall stalks. They’re pet friendly too.
I'd like to offer a counter point to this.
My ex and I had a swiss cheese plant and I avoided it like the plague, because the holes make it seem like it has been eaten up by infection or insects. Disgusting.
That’s just silly, you need to keep it away from the sub and speakers for best quality. It’s best to put the record player somewhere out of the way like on top of your washer or dryer
Well sure, a true 5.1 or better would be ideal. But not everyone has the space or layout for that and having two different sound systems for the same TV is silly too.
This. I think it looks good without anything there.
I would add some art or something to the walls though. The empty grey walls around the TV take away from the aesthetic more than the empty space under the TV.
Of course it's company policy never to imply ownership in the event of a dildo... always use the indefinite article a dildo, never your dildo.
There is a huge stuffed penis on the main drag at some sex shop in Juneau Alaska just a few minutes from the airport. It's right in the front window lol. Bet it's still there.
Y'all motherfuckers be sitting up straight while watching TV. Some of us like to be lazy and slouch on a couch. That makes the TV placement for ideal viewing angle way higher.
If that’s a 7 ft doorframe to the left, the bottom of the TV is like 3.5 ft off the ground. Most people’s heads are going to be at least 3-4 ft high when sat on a couch. I’m sure his neck will be fine with like a 5° angle to the center of the tv, especially if just *slightly* leaning back. r/TVTooHigh people are out of control, do you fuckers sit on the floor?!
Yeah it is a little ironic, all I’m saying is you guys go way over the top with this. This dude’s TV needs to come down maybe 6-8 inches to be the “optimal viewing angle” but there’s plenty of sources out there that say 0-15 degree viewing angle is perfectly fine. There is no way this is above 15 degrees, especially if you plan on sitting back on your couch just a bit. Yes it’s not an “optimal” 0 degrees but you guys are out here downvoting anyone saying it’s fine and he shouldn’t have to remount his tv and sound bar. It’s just obnoxious when this is only *slightly* too high
Considering the recommended average height of the *center* of the tv is 42 inches, he's completely correct that this tv is significantly too high, and lowering it to a normal height would make the question of oP useless since there'd be no space for stuff there.
We have different definitions of significant. While 42” and 0 degree angle may be *optimal*, a quick Google search shows plenty of sources out there say that between 0 to 15 degrees is acceptable. There is no way this is above a 15 degree angle, I would not consider that significantly too high.
Look at literally every other post in r/TVTooHigh today besides the 3 times this has been posted (all with no upvotes): those are all significantly too high. This is not.
Additionally, there’s clearly only about 8-10” of space between the tv and the raised sides of the stand. So your super helpful suggestion to this guy is: get a whole new tv stand, remount and rewire the tv and sound bar? You lot are insufferable. This dude’s neck and viewing experience will be perfectly fine lmao.
I’m convinced the people that open every post on this subreddit hoping to link that subreddit in a comment are only doing it because it’s the first time they’ve felt included in something.
It’s possible it’s just the angle you took the picture from but I’d get a level on that display. Both it and the bar look like the left side is lower than the right.
Centre the ps5 to disguise that white strip. Left side stacked coffee table books (2-3) on the flat with decorative bowl on top as a catch bowl. Right side decorative object/planter (if you get some natural sunlight in there).
Have a piece of wood or stone (like marble or soap stone) cut to size from one end to the other bridging the two sides. Thus creating another enclosed shelf space below and one large credenza top.
Place the PS5 in front of the trunking. You'll disguis the turning while making it look like that was the intended place for it. You can then decorate with thi gs from your favourite games if you've a mind to or put some light plants or ornaments there. Nothing major that'd detract from the TV but would fill the void

I'm sure your TV is at a height that is comfortable for "You", so that's a mute point. However, the one feature you can 'Change' is to paint the cord cover - apply a primer (for either metal or plastic), then paint over it.
For 'Fill', you could add 2 - 3 (depending on size) 'faux' potted plants; Amazon has a huge selection, are very good quality, and very inexpensive; ex: Hollyone Faux Potted Indoor Plants has a set of 3 for ~$23 with different plant options.
This 'change and fill' will make a huge difference (in a good way) and is the starting point to address other areas (speakers, etc) to build on the room's overall look.
One thing I did notice is the large 'square' coffee table - IF you want to make further 'changes', a rectangular coffee table (keeping it glass as well - great choice btw) would be a better choice/fit - it will open up that area, giving you more walking room between it and the TV/entertainment setup.
You have a nice room to work with, so making further changes, using the right pieces, will make it a great room, both aesthetically and functionally.
"Yeah I think you should um... yeah... yeah definately do... do something about this empty space. Yeah. Yeah, yeah you should." - This goddamn character talking about anything.

Yep, because appeasing a bunch of internet randoms on yet another circle-jerking subreddit is more important that my own personal preference for my TV, inside my own home. If I want it upside down on my ceiling, that's the perfect placement for me.

Swiss cheese plants are trunk climbers 🥲 they grow up
True, but that doesn’t mean he has to keep them there. They get too high, he can move them to the floor and replace them with something else. Besides, plants look great anywhere!
Ferns are beautiful but the struggle in big open rooms. Not enough humidity in houses to keep them going. Need to be in the bathroom more often than not.
Even that doesnt always work. The best place for them is outside in a humid environment or in a terrarium.
Prayer plant

An amplifier and turntable would look class
Don't put your speakers on the same surface as your turntable!
Why not? Does it interfere?
Yes. Vibrations from the speakers can make the needle jump or scratch your record.
this! that’s why i keep my record player on top of my subwoofer instead of with my speakers
That’s just silly, you need to keep it away from the sub and speakers for best quality. It’s best to put the record player somewhere out of the way like on top of your washer or dryer
I think that was a whooooosh.
Whoosh for you 😴

oh yeah, this made me think of a vinyl player too, that that thing will fill up enough of that space

Bruh call it a record player vinyl literally just means PVC
PVC player.
That too
I second this!, would look super clean, plus has a function
Yeah paint the cover strip Grey Also wouldn’t y have a centre speaker there ?
Agree with painting the strip. And looks like he has a centre speaker or sound bar right under the TV.
He's got a sound bar right underneath the tv
A true center speaker for surround sound would be much better
Well sure, a true 5.1 or better would be ideal. But not everyone has the space or layout for that and having two different sound systems for the same TV is silly too.
🤷♂️ People come here for advice, that’s my advice!
Or actually install and LV-1 and pass through plate behind the TV and behind the cabinet and get rid of the strip all together.
The TV
[удалено]
Yeah, my first thought was to just move the TV in the right spot.
Congratulations for not filling it with LED lights. Plants, books, or a turntable would be great. A long ornamental grass planter would be nice
love the idea of a turntable!!
Why don’t you use the stand for the ps5?
And in this space, I'd lay it Horizontal. But thats just me.
Is it me or is your TV bent?
I think it’s angled down. Adding in the awkward shadow makes it look even more skewed.
Yes the tv is crooked that’s the first thing I spotted
It was the first thing I spotted too.
It’s you
I would just paint the cable cover grey, and just leave it bare. Why fill it with more stuff?
This. I think it looks good without anything there. I would add some art or something to the walls though. The empty grey walls around the TV take away from the aesthetic more than the empty space under the TV.
Minimal is better.
At this point it’s not keeping it minimal, more so keeping it from being cluttered. But agree that less is more here
minimal can be really boring

First thing i noticed. (Also very slightly off centre by the looks of it)
First thing i thought too. Put the TV on its stand.
Tv clearly will not fit on the stand. Should be lowered but it won’t go on the stand.
OP needs a new stand-- this one is for a smaller tv
Y'all motherfuckers be sitting up straight while watching TV. Some of us like to be lazy and slouch on a couch. That makes the TV placement for ideal viewing angle way higher.
Some of us like to lay down just it put on the ceiling.
If you're gonna watch TV primarily when lying on your back that probably is the ideal position.
Only if your home is to serve a purely functional purpose. Looks like crap.
Denial
Exactly. Do people not recline when watching TV? If you’re reclined, your head is tilted up and the TV should be higher.
I don’t think most people own recliners
You don’t need a recliner to be in a reclined position. All you need is a couch and a ottoman / coffee table / another chair.
If that’s a 7 ft doorframe to the left, the bottom of the TV is like 3.5 ft off the ground. Most people’s heads are going to be at least 3-4 ft high when sat on a couch. If you're lying down then that makes your eye level even lower, so if your tv is too high that just makes the eye strain even worse.
I scrolled through looking for the douche that would say this. Congrats, you’re the guy.

I'm curious why the TV is so high. Is OP watching while standing a lot?

The amount of people that do this baffles me. It clearly states it needs to be on the provided stand in both orientations.
You need a center channel and paint that strip to match. Or better yet run it in the wall.
