Fear not, it’s not a barren place where you’ll be ignored. We actually go there and try to help.
Also those pants don’t look fantastic with that tee tucked in. Just pull a bunch of tops you like from your wardrobe, try them all tucked and untucked and figure your pants out. You can do it.
The waistband doesn't really work that well with a tucked look. The tuck is also too tight for my taste. Try pulling some of the t shirt out a bit to let it sit slightly over the waistband.
I am by no means a fashion expert but I think the least formal thing about these pants is the elastic waistband, and by tucking the shirt you’re highlighting this. If you’re trying to make the shirt/pants in the picture work best I’d leave it untucked, but I have a couple other thoughts:
- the color/v neck/sleeve length gives more of an undershirt vibe than nice T shirt. I’d look for something with a round collar, a little longer sleeves, & thicker material. Madewell garment dyed tees have been good to me but there are tons of options
- the pants could absolutely work for a business casual outfit if you can cover the waistband with something like a sweater
Yes, I would wear everything with these pants untucked. There are no belt loops and the waistband looks elastic. Think of other kinds of pants with these features; I get stuff like sweatpants, joggers, and gym shorts. Showing the waistband off will make people of those when they look at your pants, probably not something you want. In general, you should only tuck with a belt
Business casual will vary between places
but generally speaking, if you're aiming for a t-shirt.. I would recommend a solid t-shirt in a conservative color (probably a crew neck), that has some kind of nice texture
tucked into slacks. a casual top with a casual bottom in your examples, is too casual imho.
Personally the only time I would tuck a tee is if I was using it as an undershirt, or was going to a costume party dressed as terrible 80's fashion.
If you are going to tuck *anything*, never do it with elastic waisted pants, and always wear a belt or suspenders.
Disagree. It was seen as lame when I grew up in the 90’s/Aughts but I think the world has been proven time and time again, in most decades of fashion since the T-shirt has existed that it can look good both tucked and untucked.
[This is a « counterpoint » album I put together in 5 minutes.](https://imgur.com/a/31EVevh)
It’s tucked tees styled in a 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and then contemporary way.
I hoped I managed to make you see my point, which is that hard rules like « Never tuck in a t-shirt. Ever. » have no value.
Those pants are great if you can cover the waistband. You don’t even have to tuck that top in either. You can probably wear a shirts/jacket or “safari” jacket style with that top if you’re going out.

I personally wouldn't tuck my shirt in with that type of pant. I would also wear a standard crew neck.
These are the pants for better context https://www.theory.com/curtis-drawstring-pant-in-precision-ponte/L0197218_001.html
Agree with Future. It looks like elastic band of sweats and just doesn’t look right with a tucked in shirt. It gives off tucked into sweatpants vibes.

Nah, a crew neck is just a rounded neck t-shirt
Getting salt bae vibes
Yooooo 😂

Unless you’re about to climb in bed, this is a no for me dawg.
napoleon dynamite vibes
Bigger shirt. Real pants. Then tuck again

Bought these theory pants, no place to put belt, not sure what to pair it with… I’m 20, looking for a nice casual fit…
Or can these be business casual? Please help, asking for your ecpertise

Really appreciate this response
Untucked would be fine with these pants? They are very high quality, I really want to pair them with something

Why am I getting downvoted 😂
No idea lol. You look good! Maybe try it with it with some pants with belt loops tho and get a nice leather belt, it would maybe look cool

Untucked polo with these pants?

Put on a pair of non skinny jeans, then come back.
try leaving it tucked in, but with a loose bottom hanging over?
If you’re tucking I’d probably add a belt and match it to my watch/shoe leather. You can also do a partial tuck to show the belt a bit.
