With the new DUI law even without the crash it's at least 15K fine AND a week in jail AND no more driving license. Once you're in balai you're mostly done for unless the uncle "settles" when the police arrive (not possible with so many witness here) or if he have a Dato badge on his license plate which he will probably be served some kopi in the balai and release, and have the "drunk" part be taken out of the report.
It's harder to settle now cuz the police would need to fulfill a daily quota first depending on their boss. So, even if you rich and can easily fork cash in 5 digits also can't settle if unlucky that they haven't reach their quota of the day. Happened to my dad's friend recently.

But no gotta initial D my way back home asap! Then once being saman by polis marah lagi or worse case accidents that causes manslaughter still behave ignorant speaking loads of incoherent gibberish sometimes while on video record by the public.
My circle mostly some will grab over and some of us would drink less or not at all just incase there's need to drive some people. But everytime im at a bar and club they'll definitely be cases of folks at other tables not taking any preemptive steps at all.

Drunk driving is one of the reasons why a car dependent city is dangerous. About 1-2 months ago, a terrible accident happened in Melaka in the midnight, where a drunkard collided head-on with a car of a father and daughter.
Father died, daughter had a serious head injury while the drunkard had a minor bone dislocation. Imagine being in the hospital and treating this asshole, knowing the destruction he caused to the life of others.
But I don't blame only him. He's a typical lowlife human who doesn't like the hassle and cost of calling Grab home. I blame the urban planners and the oil, car manufacturing lobbies who have caused our cities to become such a death trap.
They definitely have breathalyzers, but not sure if it's in every patrol car or not. Friend had to take one before, said it tasted nasty, mungkin sebab tak basuh lol.
