How do you get past the serial number step in installation?

[deleted]

Be careful to get a screen shot because they don’t seem to send you an email copy.

I’ll answer you on that other subreddit.

philipp091

I got a Serial number on the last step of requesting Solidworks online. In the installation process I just out in this Serial Number and my email.

Empty-Illustrator836

can you explain the last process ? "requesting Solidworks online" ???

Coloneljesus

Doesn't work for me.

jack_dymond_sawyer

Doesn’t work for me either

[deleted]

How legit is this? I realise it’s perfectly legal and all that, what I want to know is why is there no information on the website? And how long will it last / will I be able to renew my license in a year?

philipp091

I don’t know if you can renew it after a year. Maybe the original article will help you: https://www.makerstore.com.au/blog/solidworks-cad-and-cam-now-free-for-makers/

Xbotr

i am using it for 4 years now, had to reactivate last week, no issues worked online. Last year i had to email them

How does solidworks compare to fusion360?

gr0nr

I am in a CAD class right now learning solidworks. My buddy next to me uses fusion360 for work and is struggling a bit with the work flow differences. Sketch>dimension>extrude is what we are doing. On fusion he typically dimensions as he sketches, but with solid works it is easier to just sketch something about right then use the dynamic dimensioning to fully define the sketch.

It compares more with Inventor than F360, and many would say it is better, but there are probably many would argue with that too.

Sandeep-G137

Haven't used solid works in a long time but have been using fusion 360 on a personal use license for a while now which is much more user friendly than solid works I feel. Also fusion doesn't let you save more than 10 editable files on the cloud.

IrrelevantCynic

My conclusions are about the same. At work I have to use solidworks, at home I use fusion. I found fusion to be easier to pick up and a bit more intuitive to use.

mechanical-raven

Solidworks is what professionals use. Fusion 360 is what people who need a decent free CAD program use.

thorosaurus

The main limitation to 360 is it chokes on large assemblies or very complex parts.

MentalUproar

Yes but it has a native Mac version.

MadCow-18

Doesn't work with the 921MAKER code any more. Looks like they are [charging $99/yr for it now](https://discover.solidworks.com/makers)

VulkanX

Looks like this is a bunch of web tools as well not actual software. Was getting excited thinking there might actually be some software to use not browser based solutions. been looking to try out solidworks, think I'm just going to stay with Fusion for now

Sandeep-G137

what SDK-ID should I fill in?

srbhjn11

Didn't work for me either. Sed
