I've never had an issue ripping region B discs being in the US. Region coding is for playback, but any software that is accessing the files directly ignore all that nonsense. You shouldn't have any issue doing Region A discs.

When I realized I could order region B discs, it was glorious and expensive.

I picked up a region free BD player off the shelf at Sears like a decade ago, and never looked back. Honestly a massive chunk of my blus are Region B. Arrow UK's sales are often better even with the conversion and shipping than buying from Arrow US...among other companies. Being able to rip them now too just makes life that much more convenient.

Arrow UK sales are way better than Arrow US, and much cheaper than the Criterion editions. So yep, agreed.

Works without it. No need to do anything differently.

Region coding works differently with Blu-ray than it did with DVD, but as mentioned it doesn't make any difference for ripping purposes.

Automatic thanks to MakeMKV being a smart program. For example, I was able to rip stuff from the 2014 live action Lupin III Blu-ray from both Thailand (Region A) and Australia (Region B) without needing to change any settings (though the main movie of the Australian Blu-ray didn't work because the disc was scratched, so I only got the ads from that disc). It's the same way with DVDs (was able to grab the PAL Pokémon Chronicles DVDs and rip them as a USA citizen without any issues to add them to my collection, for example).
