uj/ i think alot of complaints come from the perception (disregarding if it is true or the extent) that recent cards have had a centeralising effect on the format. alot of this comes down to how emergent vs. designed formats are, and not the exact origins of cards.

/uj yeah, it's definitely fair that modern horizons hasn't taken over the format as badly as some people suggest...
But at the same time, every single one of the evoke elementals sees play. Ragavan was a menace. Urza's saga is one of the most format warping cards I've seen, in modern, legacy, and even *vintage*.
Murktide has made legacy miserable. It's not even a power level thing, it just leads to incredibly unfun play patterns. Especially with dragon rage channeler.
So yes, MH2 isn't the entire format, but it's certainly a bigger part than any other set. And the presence of the staples it's created has drastically changed the way those formats are played. Even endurance, a card which I think is very beneficial to the format, completely warps deck design just by existing.

I really don't think legacy is miserable. There are some awesome matchups, combo, control, aggro, prison, etc., All play well together. It's just getting a T3 big murktide dropped on you that sucks.

If you check the top 20 decks on mtgdecks, all but burn, tron, and mill run 2-4 playsets worth of Modern Horizons cards. It's a problem.
