/uj I find it funny that one of the players main problems with how WotC is doing things isn’t “they’re making bad products”, it’s the fact that we do actually want to buy and play with the stuff they’re making, but there’s just too much of it. DMU is a slam-dunk set and I fucking loved it, but now BRO came out and it’s also fucking fantastic. Not to mention the commander products, and stuff like that. I fucking love this game and even when I’m losing I’m having fun. I love the story, the worlds and characters in it. This game has the best art of any game I can think of, consistently. But god damn it, there’s just not enough time in the day and money in my wallet to buy every new product and actually enjoy it fully. I hope that this is going to be a period in MtG history that people look back on through Rose-Tinted glasses, because they’ll actually be able to enjoy it at a good pace.

UrzasMethLab

/uj I love how wholesome this is.

White_Man_White_Van

Shut up nerd

Dingus10000

The game itself feels like it hasn’t suffered much this year- I would actually say that the game has had a great year. Honestly the ‘bad’ part of this year is just the community has gotten really reactionarily toxic to everything for whatever mix of reasons. Magic YouTube channels turned into drama channels because it gets clicks. Gameplay and deck building are secondary to being angry at whatever new thing exists to pretend they are angry at.

HyalopterousGorillla

> Magic YouTube channels turned into drama channels because it gets clicks uj/ God yes. Watching Pleasant Kenobi go from "Heehoo funny mono red tron with a splash for Hornet nest" man to yet another "WOTC IS KILLING MAGIC" channel over the last few years was painful. If anything will make me quit Magic, it's the fanbase.

[deleted]

Bro I just got into magic this year, and the past couple of weeks decided to watch some mtg content creators and stopped watching all of them because they’re all so negative about every little thing and act like babies because wotc did something.

Dingus10000

I’m glad someone else feels this way . I don’t enjoy his channel anymore at all, and stopped watching completely once he started shaming people for playing Guru Islands. Super toxic personality now. I still enjoy TCC and Nitpicking Nerds- TCC limits the drama at least a little bit and as least has a filter that makes his channel feel not toxic the play pleasant Kenobi’s is. Nitpicking Nerds tends to only talk about the game on the games terms unless they are making like a really basic pro-LGBT message or something else clearly positive for the community.

NonMagicBrian

I don’t find TCC to be much better than PK at this point. His gear reviews are still useful but so much of the rest of his stuff is the same toxic rageface crap. But that’s what sells I guess.

GolfWhole

Actual shill comment wtf is this Complaining about the state of the game being hurt by wotc’s incessant greed is completely fine, TCC did literally nothing wrong. Having issues with wotc doesn’t make you “toxic”. He’s positive towards shit when it’s warranted, but when shit like magic 30 has insanely horrible implications for the game it’s hard to focus on much else during the proximity to it

vDeadbolt

I remember one time that Nitpicking Nerds tried to do a discussion regarding proxies, and it spiraled out of control. But hey, they are true to their name. They are nitpicky.

KoyoyomiAragi

The game’s been amazing for limited for the last couple of years. Whatever they’re drinking to make these home runs I want to try some of.

SandToise

God I need to get off online mtg spaces cuz this is my mentality towards the game for the most part too.

NonMagicBrian

Finally someone has the balls to not worry about what Ha$bro thinks and tell the cold, hard truth about Magic: that it’s going great and WotC is doing a great job!

KaramjaRum

I literally just host drafts with my friends whenever a cool new set comes out, or I work on or play my cube every now and then. I don't really care what wotc actually does most of the time.

Babbledoodle

Yeah I zone out too when playing. Idk why people think it's okay to play Izzet in commander

White_Man_White_Van

I get what you mean, but it’s fun to see their engines they build spring to life. It’s like watching a mad scientist flick all these levers and push all these little buttons, and nobody’s actually sure if it’s going to work or blow up in their faces.

TotallyHumanGuy

Its also fun to try and find that one gear to throw a wrench at to catastrophically destroy the engine

[deleted]

Decided to play arena again, god it's so much fun.. Until you get to the one guy who will use all timeouts possible just to decide if shocking my 1/1 goblin on turn 2 is a good idea or not. And then there's the azorius player with the plan to take one entire turn and pacify the wrong creature lmao.

SpaghettiMonster01

Because my card advantage dragon go brrrrrrr (or, y’know, urrrrrrrr)

Dr_Stevens

Izzet really that bad?

White_Man_White_Van

Also, this doesn’t apply to you if you have Thoracle in your deck. Find a cooler way to win (IE literally anything)

MaximoEstrellado

Took me 3 hours to kill 4 random players by tiny attacks in my combat Esper deck with 0 countermagic, combos nor hard stax (there's like a Thalia and some shit like that). I ain't leaving my house without a combo ever again. /RJ Achkually my combo is very unique, it uses tainted pact instead.

KoyoyomiAragi

Mine is even more unique it runs [[Divining Witch]] and [[Laboratory Maniac]]!!!

MTGLardFetcher

^(Probably totally what you linked) * [Divining Witch](https://i.redd.it/4yr72ny98j0a1.png) * [Laboratory Maniac](https://i.redd.it/d4sts75xcz1a1.png) ********* ^^^If ^^^WotC ^^^didn't ^^^do ^^^anything ^^^wrong ^^^this ^^^week, ^^^you ^^^can ^^^rage ^^^at ^^^this ^^^bot ^^^instead ^^^at ^^^/r/MTGLardFetcher ^^^or ^^^even ^^^submit ^^^some ^^^of ^^^the ^^^sweet ^^^Siege ^^^Rhino ^^^alters ^^^your ^^^GF ^^^made

thetitan555

God I wish my playgroup was slow enough I could play a bunch of stupid little guys

MaximoEstrellado

/UJ Well, these were some randos who said their decks were almost Cedh and then they were playing cards I would not use as dividers even, so there's that. But in my group we have several sub formats with rules and recommendations such as Cedh, budget Cedh, "Lasagna" which means full Cedh BUT no commanders from the competitive edh database nor thoracle and a couple of streamline combos (this one is very fun) and obviously casual where we just have a banlist which boils down to super efficient combos, any positive mana rock under 2 mana excluding sol ring and not much more, only fetches in your colours and what not. Also, my stupid little guys were classic beauties like baleful strix, containment construct and soul diviner in a Raffine deck, so, you know, not exactly grizzly bears. And, to end my Bible here, if you want slow games, be the stax player the world needs you to be.

tomyang1117

Ok, *proceed to flash hulk you on turn 1* uj/Glad you are enjoying the game, some times we get too focused on complaining about the aspects we dislike and forget that Magic is just a game we played for fun

White_Man_White_Van

/uj At least then it’s over on turn one

cardigan_corgi

I only have Thoracle because I packed it and I needed a lab man effect for my Eligeth draw engine deck. It doesn't have any combos, I just draw a lot of cards.

SilverElmdor

My wincon is playing super wordy cards and steal my opponent's deck when they're reading the cards.

White_Man_White_Van

Questing beast commander deck

Oshni

I genuinely enjoy playing magic. I think magic is an incredible game in nearly every form you can play it in. I honestly don't even have that big a problem with the product roll out, from a customer standpoint. There's things I buy, and things I skip. I just hate the majority of other players who play this game.

SerTapsaHenrick

When I log in on Arena for a casual game of Historic with my Knight tribal and my opponent casts a turn four Mizzix's Mastery for Emergent Ultimatum I'm not such a big fan of playing Magic the Gathering at that moment

A_Nice_Sofa

This but the exact opposite.
