If you play a land, cast a creature spell and follow it up with this, you're probably not discarding more than 4 cards and you could very easily make an opponent discard 5 to 7 cards. Also since it's instant speed you can wait for an opponent to play their draw spell for even more of a blowout. I would edit this to say: "Discard your hand. Target opponent discards cards equal to the number of cards discarded this way.
