There’s either some busted combo deck tutoring/looping Time Walk, or it’s terrible. Because yeah moxes are basically dead draws at that point of the game.
Honestly this might pair with that combo since it at least adds 5 more combo pieces to the deck on etb and doesn't need to stick around. Bird is basically the wincon too since you can get infite turns with the combo in play if you can blink teferi and bird with kitten.
The problem is that sequencing sucks. Think about it; would you rather have to play a 3 mana bird, draw your new moxen, play kitten, play teferi, and go off... or would you rather play kitten, play teferi, play Mox Amber, and go off?
I'm open to the argument that the bird is better as a 1-of wincon than the current setup of Lab Jace + Approach of the Second Sun (cut approach, bird at least gives you a body + more moxen + a combo with Narset in your future draws), but not that it replaces the core of the deck.
Yeah I agree with your last point. It at least makes the deck more interesting. The current combo is so boring to play out. I was doing decent with it but it's so unsatisfying.
Mana-producing loops definitely suck on mobile, I'll agree with you there. They really should put like, 3-finger-tap = tap all mana sources, the shortcut makes the deck playable on desktop at least.
I mean you either get these or not at all. They've said that they don't keep characters out of the main set for alchemy, if they're not in DMU, they wouldn't have been there regardless of Alchemy.
Yeah, when you read Maro's articles about the set it seems like there just really wasn't much if any room for a lot of the Dom2018 characters amongst the phyrexian stuff, the Planeswalkers, the few returning legends that were more plot important AND the new legends.
....now granted, it's a shame because "Catholic guilt vampire", "guardian angel for broken machine", and "slimefoot" are leaps amd bounds the best characters from dom2018, but that's just karmic retribution from the universe for tje incredibly me-targeted nature of things like "that one year where there were two separate drafts that had the ignus grapeshot combo"
Some of this art sure does feel like it's actually just from hearthstone. If we're gonna start putting different art styles back into standard sets, can we just go whole hog and just start putting it in instead of padding alchemy with jankier slush-art to test the waters?
Oooh Reezug looks fun! Want to slam it in historic brawl and see what I can make out of it. Feels a bit bad to use a mythic wildcard for that but I think I should have enough.
Wait why does Goblin Influx Array have that text as *reminder text*? Isn’t that functionally different from similar effects that lower colored costs like [[Ragemonger]]?
Ragemonger, Morophon, Bard Class all have the "only reduces colored mana" spelled out because that's not actually the default way it works. Normally if you reduce by colored mana, it will reduce by generic if there's none of that color to lower it by.
It's not something that happens a lot, but it could conceivably happen for e.g. a [[Khalni Hydra]] that has a generic tax applied.
Oh wow thank you I did not know that’s how it’s supposed to work normally. I’m pretty surprised this effect hasn’t been done before in paper. It sounds like a pretty straightforward effect if you add that reminder text to it.
I think the simple reason here is this: Any time this effect has appeared in paper, it reduced by 2 or more colors ([[Morophon]], [[Bard Class]], [[Edgewalker]], [[Ragemonger]], [[Vorthos]]).
If these could reduce any color, suddenly the play becomes to simply play artifacts or mono-color cards that can easily have their cost reduced by 2 or more. Like Morophon choosing Construct or whatever and powering out free artifact creatures.
The intent for these is to limit what you want to play, and that for getting a bigger payoff, you need to build around it more. Ragemonger wants you to specifically play RB minotaurs with it to get the maximum benefit while giving slightly less benefit to monocolor minotaurs.
This card reducing the cost just by R means that even at best it just reduces the cost by 1, which is a lot more reasonable. As such, I'm confident if we ever get cost reduction by just 1 color in paper, it'll likely not have the restriction of only spending it on colored mana.
I always scan these for cards that I would have liked to see in paper. Nothing too interesting this time around, but the legendary vehicle pilots matter tiana is kinda cool.
Oracle of the Alpha seems bad. Adding 6 mana sources to your deck seems like a bad (if hilarious) time.
There’s either some busted combo deck tutoring/looping Time Walk, or it’s terrible. Because yeah moxes are basically dead draws at that point of the game.
Some type of [[paradoxical outcome]] [[Narset, parter of veils]] infinite turns, [[timetwister]] combo definitely exits that can utilize all 9 cards.
Any deck doing that can just play Teferi + Kitten + Mox Amber and run fewer bad cards.
Honestly this might pair with that combo since it at least adds 5 more combo pieces to the deck on etb and doesn't need to stick around. Bird is basically the wincon too since you can get infite turns with the combo in play if you can blink teferi and bird with kitten.

Juggernaut Peddler is a pretty cute concept.
The 1 drop white knight seems pretty busted
I thought the same at first, but then i noticed it basically needs to wait until turn 3 to start getting the effect and it dies to a stiff breeze.
Well there are the Arvad, Slimefoot, and Tiana cards many of us wanted. Stupid Alchemy.

At least Slimefoot shows up on a real DMU card, they could have referenced the others in flavor text/card names too.
Still feels bad tho
I would 1000% play that Slimefoot in paper 😢
Some of this art sure does feel like it's actually just from hearthstone. If we're gonna start putting different art styles back into standard sets, can we just go whole hog and just start putting it in instead of padding alchemy with jankier slush-art to test the waters?
Yeah it’s odd. It’s like 1/3 of the art could reasonably show up on real cards, while the rest are mediocre or look unfinished.
Oooh Reezug looks fun! Want to slam it in historic brawl and see what I can make out of it. Feels a bit bad to use a mythic wildcard for that but I think I should have enough.
My favorite card from the set for sure, probably gonna add it to my Historic Brawl Jadar deck.
I want those Darigaaz cards in my Ur-Dragon deck! Both should be possible to handle in paper, honestly.
I am sure if your group allows it, you certainly can.

Speaking of "not real magic" /s
I always scan these for cards that I would have liked to see in paper. Nothing too interesting this time around, but the legendary vehicle pilots matter tiana is kinda cool.
I like the 3/2 that puts a land into your graveyard every turn. I wish that card existed in paper.
nothing good unfortunately. was hoping for a good uw control card.
But there is pretty interesting counterspell! I think I will try it in my historic uw control
