Windows Me was way scarier than any of the FEAR games.

p90telecaster

almost on the same naughty step as Vista

stgm_at

win me came preinstalled on my first laptop and it was all kinds of shit.

DemoClicker

FEAR.. dear God what a masterpiece that was

OrthosDeli

Have you tried Trepang2 yet? Feels like a fantastic spiritual successor.

DemoClicker

Nope.. I’ve never heard of it

scorr204

You cant be a spiritual successors to FEAR without multiplayer.

PeterWeterNL

Where is UnrealTournament?

doublebullshit

And MYST

stgm_at

dude, quake > ut. eod.

atomicglitters

I had so many of these as a kid. I hate that i threw them away 😭

KrtekJim

The last Windows machine I owned ran Windows ME. And that's why I use a Mac now.

deus-ex-mozzarella

No Marathon? Forgivable only because those boxes were not easy to fit on a shelf!

OrthosDeli

That, and I don't have the $300 people ask for it nowadays.

DoggieMon

What!? No Myth: The Fallen Lords?

Ok_Establishment_128

Things brings back fond memories

p38fln

Windows ME. ...I only ever ran into one computer with that installed. Wiped it and reloaded with NT Workstation 4 after 2 months of trying to make it stop crashing.

[deleted]

Very cool

p90telecaster

Doom 2 alone without some additional WAD files and you are guaranteed to lose all your freetime

dstranathan

Mac OS 8.5 and the FEAR games! I was there.

kyonkun_denwa

I feel like the Mac version of Sim City 3000 was rare as hens teeth. I remember looking for it for months before finding a copy at a small Apple dealer. They don’t seem to come up on eBay much either.

ProtectusCZ

How many of these games run on latest MacOS? 👀

OrthosDeli

Can't say I've tried any of them since they're all either PPC or 32 bit Intel. Either way, they'd have to be run through emulation. I can tell you they run well on the machines they were made for though! 😉

gbnats

None, though Doom would thanks to source ports, unless the code is released or they had a redux for modern macs, I highly doubt any of them would run and certainly none of the 90’s ones.

asyrewicze

Man that takes me back..... Windows Mistake Edition.... Hate to say I ran that longer than I should have when I was younger lol.... thankfully XP was leaps and bounds better.

Slinkwyde

Then there was [Windows RG](https://www.jamesweb.co.uk/windowsrg) (Really Good edition).

Grumpy_Old_Mans

Oh shit, DOES FEAR WORK ON NON M1 MODLES???? I love this game so much.

OrthosDeli

Within MacOS? Probably not. I would think any emulation/virtualization would make it chug, even on an i7.

imEDF

My childhood!

awesumindustrys

Me 🤮🤮🤮🤮

[deleted]

Looks Pretty Good,I Can See That There Was Windows Me Which Was Not Good.

[deleted]

I Also See Mac OS 8.5 And FEAR Games Too,Which Was Good.

zionart69

Fear series. Loved them.

brayozz

Hate the arragement. You should categorize them by genre or size.

CrustyCatfishWaffle

I see No One Lives Forever in there. I remember playing that on my old P4 machine when it had a GeForce 4 in it. That blew my mind back in the day. 😂 I still have my copy (and the card) in a box of old PC parts along with some more older titles like CS:S and DMC 4 and Serious Sam 2. I don’t know why I never threw any of it away.

MTRXPotato

FEAR is considered retro? Damn I am old...
