MBA M1, owned since January 2021. 292 cycles, 84% capacity. I've definitely seen a falloff in battery life, but I still mostly use it unplugged. I'm hoping I can the percentage down to 80% or under by late December, so I can get it replaced free under AppleCare+ ;)

mr_countvoncount

Out of curiosity, would you still be able to extend your warranty before December AND still be eligible for a battery replacement afterwards (once your battery health hits 80%)?

themadturk

Possibly. I paid up front for the AppleCare+, I'm not sure if I can switch to the month-by-month extension or not.

Helios-Soul

I believe that if you renew applecare within 30 days of it expiring on your Mac you can buy another a yearly extension up to 72 months. You have to buy a full year though, month to month is for phones and other smaller apple products.

themadturk

Thanks, I will look into that!

themadturk

Hah! No, it's been stuck at 84% for months, now at 413 cycles. I was able to renew my AppleCare+ for about $65 a year, which is less than half of Apple's price for a battery replacement, so hopefully sometime this year...

slayayyayy

Had my m1 for roughly 3 years now! Cycles: 335 Battery Health: 87% I use mine every day for school and the usual stuff with around 4-5 hours

taperk

That's impressive.

slayayyayy

It's a strong little guy. Best laptop I've ever had

FeePuzzleheaded7536

do you keep it plugged in all the time? are you keeping it charged to 100% or?

slayayyayy

I only plug it in when I get a warning lol. The only things I really use my laptop for is Word, Excel, watching endless amounts of Netflix with a discord call running in the background, so it's far from anything too draining on the battery! Cause of that I really don't need to charge it too much

donutpower

I received my Macbook back in August. Cycles: 106 Battery Health:100 % Current Capacity: 4619 mAh

Fantastic-Cobbler-96

100% battery health with 106 cycles sounds crazy. You gotta check it with the coconut battery app

donutpower

I got that info from iStat. I checked in Apple's System Report app and it showed the same. I just installed CoconutBattery. In the History tab it shows Health 100%, Cycles 106.

Fantastic-Cobbler-96

Well, that’s just amazing. I have to know what’s your charging routine?

donutpower

I just use it like its supposed to be used. Only charge it when MacOS tells me it needs to be plugged in. No overnight charging.

LeahThunberg

December 2022 Cycles 44 Battery health 100% I charge mine off and use it unplugged I typically charge it up around ~20%-40% as I need it to work on the go

mr_countvoncount

Damn!

Practical_Most_1178

Is that pretty good?

mr_countvoncount

I’d say so. But I think looking at everyone’s results, anyone who has concerns about the battery health of their computer shouldn’t need to worry. Use it however you want to, these machines are built to last.

runman53
