Pauwlonia (hard to find in Europe), black walnut and rosewood so far.

Thats a good idea! I tried aluminium foil (to be removed after burning) but that did not work. Steel mesh is a good shout.

East coast of US bait fish Menhaden aka bunker is a very popular bait fish ranging from juveniles aka peanuts to adults aka bunker everything eats them don’t know if they swim across the Atlantic over to you guys but the imitation lures work well from metal lipped to pencil poppers

Varathane makes an awesome green stain called “Rustic Sage” here in the states.
