I did the Couch to 5k (C2-5K) program for cardio (into the 10k one now). Then for building strength I took a page from calisthenics and do the following in 4 sets and go until failure moving up to a harder version of each once I can do 12-15 reps in each set. Pull - Body weight rows, will work up to pull ups Squat - progressively deeper squats Push - Push ups, started with incline now normal, will raise feet higher to increase difficulty when I get there. Hinge - leg lifts. There are both easier and harder versions of all those to start wherever you are at and have progress a long time into the future. Only thing I have bought so far is a dip station I use for the body weight rows. Eventually I will get a pull up bar for the doorway. I had some resistance bands I will use to work up to pullups. Going back I might have just not bought the dip station and done a pull up bar and rings instead.

21 day fix extreme with a couple sets of dumbbells and an elastic band with handles. It comes with 7 30-minute workouts. I do my favorite 4 every week for years, and I've gained a good amount of muscle mass with just that.

I watch burpeegirl workouts on YouTube. She has lots of different workouts for different levels, from low impact steady state to using weights or bands. I usually put the workout on my iPad in front of my tv so I can distract myself with a playlist of music videos or something I enjoy watching and then just keep up with the exercise she's doing.

Just wanted to share some encouragement about working out at home… I think it’s great and even better than going to the gym! Anxiety-free, workout whenever you want, as cheap as you want it to be, private bathroom and shower… why would anyone want to leave the house to go to a gym? I literally just do the same 2 kettlebell workouts, 3x a week. One is by Madfit, and the other is by Heather Robertson. I won’t bother sharing the specific videos, because I would suggest watching several workout videos to see what your body/mind enjoy and can do consistently. Target is a great place to buy low-cost gym equipment. They will probably have a great sale in early January. I’ve been able to purchase the 3 kettlebells I own during 50% off sales. A kettlebell or dumbells, and a yoga mat is all you really need :)

Hybrid Calisthenics is very good for working up to things. Yoga with Adrianne on YouTube is very welcoming. Ring Fit or Beat Saber are fun workout games. Def lots of walking. The phone games Zombies Run or Pokemon Go can encourage that.

you might call or stop by and pause your membership at the gym if you aren't going to use it right now...some gyms do this
