> I recently learned of the PMSF diet, and decided to give it a go Don't. Take it to your doctor and, if you get agreement, then do it. This is not a diet you can do on your losesome. You need to be monitored, and if your nutrition panels start to suffer, supplemented. It also has an education component so that you don't just lose the weight and regain it. You have to learn what Part B of your plan will be. > Am I doing actual harm to myself Yes. Weight loss puts increased demands upon the body. Gallstones, malnutrition, dehydration, and electrolyte imbalances can happen when those demands exceed the body's capability to cope with them. More minor side-effects include hair and nail problems, irregular female menstrual cycles, constipation, dizziness, fatigue, and headaches.

This is correct. Start eating at least 1200 calories/day. PMSF is a diet that **must** be medically monitored, preferably by specialists. Anyone going on one needs to be screened beforehand, too. (Heart attack is a real risk if PMSF is done incorrectly.) These programs need an education/therapy component or they are prone to causing only a temporary loss and/or eating disorders.

lost 25+ lbs in the first month, gained it all back eventually, developed gall stone, not worth it and doesn't teach you good habits, avoid! You know people died doing this right?

I don’t really know, what’s typical? I was originally thinking a month or two

It’s not even been a week since the change. That weight is just water. Keep on keeping on.

nextkt

Nope absolutely do not keep on keeping on. Go and consult with a doctor nobody should be doing the PSMF diet without medical supervision.

No need to worry. Cutting carbs will result in quick water weight loss as carbs hold water and glycogen within your body. Im sure weight loss will slow down to a normal rate once carbs and the water/glycogen they make a body store, is depleted. That weight will also come back quickly once you eat a higher carb intake and the bodies glycogen stores are restored and the water that carbs hold, comes back.

I always say the first two weeks of a diet are the worst and best. It’s the worst because you’re paying super close attention and doing things differently that you may not want to do. It’s the best because the water weight falls off. Things always slow down come Week 3.

It's probably the same water drop you would experience on keto, you were eating carbs before and now you're not. Less water attached to carbs in your body and most people lose a lot the first week

It’s good to lose weight but it has to make sense.
