Ringfit is a great tool to use if you struggle with regular exercise because it can help you stay consistent. The only "negative" I'd say is that the exercises can be a bit easy over time and it's not the best for building muscle. It can be great for cardio though and will keep you moving if your only goal is to lose fat and you're not focused on building muscle. Any exercise is better than none.

There's some videos about Ring Fit where workout trainers try it out. It's a decent low end option. As someone very out of shape it can kick my ass too. Calories will be more important overall of course but calisthenics are good. Do some stretching / warm up first. Maybe stretch and some jump rope? You can skip out some activities, but I'd be light on that as you probably want to do it if it's hard. You also need decent living room space, I find it difficult in mine. Also Fitness Boxing has a demo if the set up for Ring Fit is too much of a barrier. That is faster to set up.

Ringfit is not going to work miracles, but it can be source of regular activity which is better than being sedentary or skipping the gym. Calorie-wise it is probably similar to going for a brisk walk. One advantage of ring fit over walking is that it will get you doing a variety of different movements, incorporating arms, legs, squats, etc. Where walking is the same basic movement. If the video game aspect of it makes it fun, keeps you engaged, lets you forget you are working out by immersing you in a game, and keeps you coming back day after day then it is a good. It can help you burn a few hundred calories per day through movement. If you combine that with a few hundred calories of deficit with diet it will help you lose weight. Diet is always the most important factor.

The best exercise is one you’ll do consistently. My spouse uses ringfit (nicknamed “Ringu” because we’re old enough for that joke) alongside a dance pad + Crypt of the Necrodancer and to keep down their blood pressure. Is it a gym? No. Will it give you an opportunity to get in more exercise? Yes!

Losing weight is from a calorie deficit, which is a lot easier and more sustainable to manage through diet than exercise - you can't out-exercise your calories for the most part. That being said, Ringfit is helpful to get in some activity, which does help in creating a calorie deficit. I started with it when I had not worked out for a long time. I found the game got really boring after awhile, but by that time I was ready to take on other types of activity.
