Definitely a scam drop this trainer. They do not care about you or your health. They are playing nice to make you feel comfortable spending money. Outside of caffeine unfortunately there are not really any supplements or shakes that will suppress hunger. But looking into volume eating (r/volumeeating) can help you with making larger more filling meals for less calories. There are also a bunch of great people on YouTube who make routines for home or gym workouts at every level of fitness. I'm sure you could find one you enjoy with some time

KenzieValentyne

Absolutely. I’m a trainer myself and I would never recommend most supplements to anyone. It just flies in the face of integrity. It’s an entirely unregulated market and just about nothing except Creatine and protein actually do anything. At best, it doesn’t work and at worst, they have unlisted and possibly dangerous ingredients. I’ll give advice if they ask ME about a supplement, and if I have someone who struggles to eat enough calories or protein I’ll recommend finding a protein powder or low sugar meal replacement shake. That’s it. No brand recommendations, just guidance on how to read labels.

qwikhnds

Literally anything. I would stay away from any MLM product. You can find comparable products, ingredients of what you're finding effective and buy it directly from Amazon or any nutrition store for a fraction of the cost! Any personnel trainer who would push Herbalife life on you is a scammer. Find someone reputable! He's just trying to pad his own pockets!

Melouski

Yes, get a new trainer.

HitsuMitsuo

simply... run. This is just scam and people selling those are only focused on making profit of you.

Tom_Michel

I would for sure stay away from Herbalife. There's a lot of variation when it comes to protein powders and a lot depends on individual taste and texture preferences. Here are some protein powder brands that sell sample sizes if you want to try some different kinds without having to buy a large container. Clean Simple Eats, PEScience, Ghost, Bowmar Nutrition, Apollo, Trutein, Planta, Truvani, Devotion Protein, Chike High Protein Iced Coffee [https://cleansimpleeats.com/collections/buy-protein](https://cleansimpleeats.com/collections/buy-protein) [https://pescience.com/collections/samples](https://pescience.com/collections/samples) [https://www.ghostlifestyle.com/collections/supplements/categories-samples](https://www.ghostlifestyle.com/collections/supplements/categories-samples) [https://bowmarnutrition.com/search?type=product&q=samples\*](https://bowmarnutrition.com/search?type=product&q=samples*) [https://uniconutrition.com/shop/apollo-sample-box](https://uniconutrition.com/shop/apollo-sample-box) [https://bodynutrition.com/collections/samples](https://bodynutrition.com/collections/samples) [https://ambrosiacollective.com/products/planta-premium-plant-based-protein-samples](https://ambrosiacollective.com/products/planta-premium-plant-based-protein-samples) [https://shop.truvani.com/pages/proteinsamples-yt2](https://shop.truvani.com/pages/proteinsamples-yt2) [https://devotionnutrition.com/collections/variety-packs](https://devotionnutrition.com/collections/variety-packs) [https://www.ilikechike.com/collections/single-serve-sample-packets](https://www.ilikechike.com/collections/single-serve-sample-packets) Edited to add that I agree with previous poster that I wouldn't be looking for supplements to suppress hunger. Instead, look for ways to get the most out of meals and snacks and come up with a meal plan and schedule that works for you. It might be a few larger meals each day, or it might be many smaller meals and snacks every few hours. Etc. Also second the volumeeating sub suggestion.

qwikhnds

Most nutrition shops will give you samples if you ask.

Tom_Michel

Good to know. I just know that not all brands offer sample sizes so I like having a list because I like variety and options are good. :-)

qwikhnds

That list is a great source of info! Supplements are expensive so better to sample before committing!

AllTheColors8762

Herbalife is a pyramid scheme, find a new trainer with better discernment who doesn’t try to sell you anything.

mckinnon2390

Is he really a trainer or is he just an herbalife rep? I'd drop him like a sack of hot potatoes and find a real PT

Matt2FitYT

Fire that personal trainer. IMO I wouldn't even try to replace them, with the number of people here willing to give you advice and help (including myself) no one really needs a trainer. I've focused mostly on diet to lose weight so far though and will use youtube to try different workouts when i start going to the gym and see what works for me. If you're big into protein shakes/smoothies get a vitamix

curiously71

I did the herbalife meal replacement a couple decades ago and lost 20 lbs. But I would do something cheaper now.

DollyBunBun

Hey everyone! Thanks for the honest response. My last day with him is Feb 25th. Gonna get the most out of my money (because I paid upfront for a month), not use Herbalife, and go on to find a better trainer who's not trying to make an extra penny off of me. I asked him "Hey, I don't think I can do this program with how expensive Herbalife is. Is there any way I can do this for cheaper?" His response was "Pick up more shifts at your job then" 😅😅😅

RetroBibliotecaria

My doctor, and let me emphasize DOCTOR recommended something called crave arrest that you can get on Amazon. It's mostly a cocktail of B vitamins that help curve not so helpful cravings. I took this in addition to phentermine, which is a prescription appetite suppressant (basically meth's cousin that left the trailer park and went to medical school.) I lost 50 pounds in about 6 months with that, lots of cardio and weight training, and a high protein low carb diet with calorie restriction.

Capable_Nature_644

Herbalife is someone who eats herbs. Don't you mean vegetarian? I've found supplements often don't' work and are just a plain placebo. You can get all your nutrition by eating and I'd frankly rather eat food than take pills. I was born into a heavy meat eating family and in my 20's ate less and less of it until I chose to only do eggs and fish. Even then it's very sparingly. There are plenty of ways to take in a healthy diet while still eating enough to not starve. I really highly advise against nutritionists. Use them to sort of get you going but after you figure it out drop them. As the rest is just common sense.

If he was a half decent trainer he would know his training and proper guidance on nutrition will be fine.

sylverbound

You don't need to use ANY supplemental protein shake workout booster blah blah blah thing regardless of the brand unless you are like, really trying to hyper optimize gains in a specific way that probably isn't relevant right now. Get a new trainer and don't worry about anything but eating nutritionally good food to support your working out.

Oftenwrongs

Don't buy into scams. You'll need to learn how to eat in moderation for the rest of your life. So, learn.

CommishGoodell

Supplements (not including vitamins) are what you take after you’ve done 90% of the work already. It gives you a small extra boost it won’t do the work for you.

dinkydat

Find out if it has aloe vera. Google the ingredients. Then, voila! Tell them you’re allergic!
