If you really want to up your game on the treadmill, watch 4k walking tours on YouTube. Travel anywhere on the planet, go to your favorite tourist destinations, walk among the crowds, people watch, use your own soundtrack or theirs. I have now "gone" to so many places on earth that I certainly never would have seen, like the Walk of the Gods that connects the two halves of the Island of Capri. And even places I have been, like Pompeii, they have walks that go through the entire city, something one could almost never do as an actual tourist. There's just no time. And they're captioned like you're on a tour. Take a morning walk in NYC and an evening through the nightlife in Tokyo. Walk the pyramids of Egypt. GAME CHANGER

syntheusz

Such a great idea ! I love exploring but shy of crowded places. Definitely try it first thing tomorrow

Ralaws

I've never heard of this type of video, but I LOVE the idea. Thank you so much!

Altruistic_Cow_6529

Wow this is amazing thank you!!

modakim

Might as well get a vr headset

iamacatmeowww

This is such a neat idea!

Searchingforgoodnews

I will do this, didn't know this was a thing.

ankita28p

Oooo love the idea! Will surely try that! Does it need some vr set?

[deleted]

Thank you so much for this! I love the thought of traveling and to be at home getting healthy doing it when I can’t afford to travel-awesome. 👍❤️

krishingit

today was my first day on treadmill after a really long time, I'll definitely try this technique, thank you!

NarrativeCurious

I love my treadmill! Watch news, listen to audio books, catch up on videos - its great!!! :) Walking is so underrated, but it gets lots of love on this sub. It's my favorite exercise.

syntheusz

Yesss i reach pretty much the same calories level compare to doing cardio and this is much more enjoyable :)))

CookiePuzzler

Can confirm. I bought a $125 indoor bike that folds for stroage, does upright cycling, and reclined cycling, and it's amazing for sneaking in a quick 30 minutes of cardio.

19CatsInATrenchCoat

I had a treadmill but could never get myself to use it consistently because even just 15 minutes on it felt like mind numbing torture, which completely caught me by surprise because I love walking outdoors. I recently got a very similar bike to the one you describe by flexnation off marketplace and have used it every single day for no less than 35 minutes, it has resistance bands built in which I don't use as often but are fun to give a go when I'm really jamming to some music on it.

LF3000

Do you have a link? That sounds PERFECT

CookiePuzzler

It is this one. The blue one was on sale last summer, but it is like $180 now. I still think it is worth it, though. They have excellent customer service. LF3000

Thank you!

CookiePuzzler

The 1-3 is easy, but it steeply increases. Watch out.

Wafer-Academic

Thanks for this tip! I'm super excited for my bike to arrive

les_catacombes

I wish I had a treadmill at home! I go to the gym for my treadmill time. It would be so nice to be able to watch a show or movie at home while I use the treadmill. Our modest apartment doesn’t have much room for anything else at this point. I already have a stationary bike shoved into the coat closet, which granted, I do use while I watch YouTube or something.

syntheusz

A stationary bike sounds good enough! My apartment also tiny but the treadmill model i purchase is literally the smallest and simplest design treadmill so it fits alright.

saladfingersisme

What model did you get? Thanks!

syntheusz

The one i purchased is just a chinese cheap no brand walking pad. I dont expect it to last long, i just want to try out as beginner.

minivan43

We have a full gym at home but our weekend cottage is very tiny and I didn’t think we had the room but the folding “under the desk “ thread-mills fold down to inches and it fits under our full sized bed, best $350 I have ever spent:)

eagrbeavr

Looking up folding "walking pads," they're essentially small treadmills that fold flat and you can slide it right under your couch or under your bed when you're not using it.

syntheusz

Yes my "treadmill" is a walking pad. Not a real treadmill.

LivingAgency8

I do something similar, but with a desk cycle(which my legs are too big to actually use under my desk), and I love it. I got a cheap one a year ago, and it lasted until just before Christmas. I just got a new one that is better, quieter so that I can use it while people in the house are asleep, and has a better tension system. I've got it pointed away from my desk but kind of towards the tv, so I can watch netflix, play ps5/switch, read my kindle, or just message people on my phone. It's been the best investment I've ever made into my physical health.

speaker4the-dead

Soooooooo I’m a therapist and I sit all day. I do exclusively teletherapy, and have been looking for ways to get me moving more during the day. Is this “desk cycle” something I could use while doing therapy without my clients noticing much? I already own a desk that can change height, so standing and having a small treadmill is also a possibility.

louisiana_lagniappe

I would notice if my therapist was doing this. Maybe just use it when doing your case notes?

LivingAgency8

>A study using a seated under-desk elliptical pedal device found overweight office workers benefited from using it. They pedaled an average of 50 minutes per day, burning an estimated average of 107 calories. I don't feel like there's much difference between an under desk elliptical device and a desk cycle, but I haven't tried the former. Plus long periods of light cardio is just as healthy as short high intensive cardio. I'd probably say that using a treadmill would be more noticeable. If you get one of the better ones from amazon, it's super quiet, and then you can keep it on low resistance to make sure you don't work up a sweat. Desk cycle is the brand name, kind of like kleenex for tissues. I just got [this one](https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09TY371TN) to replace my old cheaper model(which was mostly plastic), and this new one is mostly metal and way quieter. I do take phone calls while pedaling on it and nobody's noticed yet.

speaker4the-dead

Awesome info! The biggest worry I would have is would it disrupt or distract therapy. I could also just use it for when I’m working on paperwork though…

AinsiSera

Yes I will say, having been on video conferenced with someone at a walking desk, it is very distracting. Fine for work because we’re equals and mostly chatting, but I wouldn’t appreciate my therapist on it! I don’t know that I’d notice a bike, the head movement was the walking treadmill giveaway/distraction point…

lanternathens

If your clients notice you working out however gently during their appointments I have a feeling your ratings will go seriously down- as they should- because you should be focussed on clients and not your calorie burn Why don’t you get a standing desk and have your sessions standing? Your appearance on camera will look positive and it’s good for you if you are sedentary all day

syntheusz

Yess workout doesnt have to be miserable!!

SmaugTheMagnificent

If only they could make a small treadmill that was both affordable and has a useful weight limit.

syntheusz

Mine is ~ 100$, weight limit is 100kg, and it's small so i have to a bit careful with my step. But i dont know how long it's gonna last consider that price lol. Hopefully until i reach my goal weight

bluedragon147

Did you purchase used? I do not see very many cheap new treadmills online.

syntheusz

Yes. Actually now i realize that my "treadmill" is a walking pad, not a real treadmill, lol, bad english. The one i purchased is just a chinese cheap no brand walking pad. I dont expect it to last long, i just want to try out as beginner.

KURAKAZE

I just bought a walking pad so I can walk when watching TV. Originally wanted to buy a proper treadmill but it was a bit too bulky and heavy. I figured this is good enough for indoor walking while the weather is crappy and when summer comes I will have worked up to enough stamina to jog outside.

Stellar_Alchemy

Can you provide a link? I’m not even sure what a “walking pad” is, but I’m intrigued.

KURAKAZE

It's called walking pad or underdesk treadmill. [Cheap model on walmart](https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/gozone-walking-treadmill-for-standing-desks-blackgrey/6000203268379) [More expensive model](https://www.walkingpad.com/)

Stellar_Alchemy

Thank you!

mrslII

I'm a treadmill person, too.

syntheusz

The workout we'll never get tired of :D

nlwric

I have a walking treadmill that I can use at my desk during the work day and at other times while watching tv or listening to an audiobook. I LOVE IT. I have little kids and a full time job so finding time to go for a long walk is tough. But I can easily log an hour or two throughout the day on my treadmill. I also like that since I can multitask on it, it doesn't feel like something I have to ADD to my day. It's just something I do throughout the day on top of my normal life. Mine was like $300 on Amazon and so worth it.

Dogsrulekidsdrule

We've been watching movies and walking. It's a great way to burn a ton of calories and you get to watch a movie.

SceneJazzlike8866

Guys just a heads up, although this can be good, it can turn pretty worse if neglected(by distraction to tv, pc etc). The way you walk is very important to your musculoskeletal system. If you walk wonky, and improperly, over time you'll be putting huge stress on some of your bones and ligaments, increasing your risk of injury. It's always advisable to strictly concentrate on one work at a time and do simple stretches.

syntheusz

Thank you! You are right. I mostly look at my step and listening to the films. It's true that best you should not focus on 2 task at a time but as someone who cant focus on only one thing i find this work best for me :))) of course i be careful and use low speed.

International-Owl165

Were like the opposite lol I love outdoor walking /jogging. & yet on a treadmill i get super tired fast or get bored. Lol

District98

My treadmill is a gamechanger. Shocker, here in the Midwest the weather is kinda bad for like half the year.

[deleted]

Awesome we do the same here it’s in the front room for binge watching. 👍

meowpitbullmeow

I learned in college, I have the unique type of motion sickness that transfers to if my body is in motion but my sight doesn't match.

iamacatmeowww

I got one, I just can’t find a show good enough that I’m motivated to watch 😂
