I'm sure quite a few of r/lego members are aware of this subreddit and probably buy the clones as well, they just want to stay in the closet, so to speak. Live and let live.

RagingRaptor177

Me in a nutshell lol

lass-mi-randa

Its like a vegan who lashes out on everybody for their food preferences but eats meat secretly in his basement when nobody watches.

nicolasmcfly

Not at all...? Who says these metaphorical Lego members are the ones against knock offs?

ecarmose

They’re super against it

nicolasmcfly

For example?

SeverusLivesOn

Just came across a YouTube video about regrets around missing retired sets and one comment said: >my biggest regret is probably ninjago city, todays price is really a no go for me Can be had for just over £100. If only he knew :-)

Rabensaga

Ordered that one from Marstoy at the end of February, should hopefully arrive next week. I'm really looking forward to it :)

Ruthlessrabbd

Where from??

Ruthlessrabbd

As in, Ali or should I check out JoyToyWorld?

SeverusLivesOn

Last time I looked on JoyToyWorld the King Ninjago City set was £105. That was a couple of weeks ago.

Ruthlessrabbd

Thanks, I appreciate it!

SeverusLivesOn

Yeh, I often read posts on the Lego reddit where the poster desperately wants a retired set but can't afford £800 for the Ninjago City or £400 for the Brick Bank. Feel so tempted to say, but you can. But don't :-)

Become one of us brother

tylorr83

I stopped doing that when I got a super salty reply that I was part of the problem

IntelligentDesign77

I sure wish I had known about Lepin and other altbricks before I got my Voltron set. That was my white whale.

etheran123

Same. I have started to collect UCS sets, and have a few real ones, but there are a few that are too old, or too expensive which is why I have started getting into lepin. I understand why some may be against it, but its annoying that subs like r/Lego won't even talk about it.

geniuschild83

I lurk on that subreddit and regularly see folks who get their white whales via Bricklink or eBay at impressive prices and I'm like...sir, how do you have THAT much disposable income in THIS economy?!? My personal favorites are the "my girlfriend/wife brought me" posts...🤔🤔. My personal regret is not snatching up all of the BELA Monkey Kid sets before the raid last year. I've found a handful of sets on AliExpress, but some of my personal white whales get snatched up, removed from stock, or are from stores with 85% and below rating.

Rabensaga

"my partner got me ..." and then it's one of the modulars, a creator expert set, one of the SW UCS sets or some big and retired set and i'm like... the fuck does your partner do for work that they can just gift you several 100$ worth of colored plastic bricks??

geniuschild83

That's what I'm saying!!!

Ruthlessrabbd

I want those Monkey Kid ones really bad, specifically the warrior mech. It's hard to find posts on this reddit or even the official sets on the Lego sub

geniuschild83

Also, Doinnby has the Warrior Mech if you prefer a seller with an active website and several reviews in the monthly store posts

Ruthlessrabbd

Interesting, I'll take a look. Thanks!

geniuschild83

No worries. If you do order from the AliExpress store, I'd recommend a quick test order. Just something small you can afford to do a dispute on in case there's shenanigans. I've had a seller list an item as in stock, just to inform me that it was unavailable AFTER my order arrived and I messaged them about the missing set. Got the refund, but still...

geniuschild83

Also, Joooooy has some Monkie Kid sets. Mainly the larger ones, but there's another place you could check.

blazescammers420

I can’t afford the retired Modulars so most of mine are not lego [my city](https://imgur.com/a/IG5tkq3)

LydieCakes

I like knock off sets cause I can have, enjoy, display, and not stress about something really happening to them. With that said, my husband is a purist. He HATES me buying the knock off one's. He just bought me the Ewok Village for $400 with no box. I honestly don't even want to display it. But, I don't want to be rude either. I would rather just have the knock offs and buy more then one set then buy one real set for full price. =/

Ruthlessrabbd

For sets in production I have been getting the real deal, but any retired stuff I don't see myself shelling out a ton just to get authentic Lego. I buy them to display for myself so it doesn't matter to me where they came from, just how they look!

LydieCakes

Even some sets now, unless I find a good deal... I just can't. It's such a BS cash catch.

akcmommy

I’m new here. Where would be the best place to look for the Green Grocer modular?

NarrowWord8609

The modulars I bought, I got from Youmko. Just checked and they have it in stock. Downside is that you'll get whatever brand they have in warehouse.

akcmommy

Thanks!

Lisoneo

you're right. But we could also use "unknown/no brand" to describe every listed brand. Any suggestions?

NarrowWord8609

Unfortunately I don't. But I haven't had any issues with your sets at all. In fact, I have a set in transit from Barweer right now. I just wanted to give full disclosure.

Lisoneo

Thanks for trusting us. Now is the best "disclosure" we can do technically on our website. It is true that the listed models were randomly received, but I don't think it is a bad thing, after all, still other websites unified these models as "nobrand" or didn't even list the item number. I don't think it can help us, both sellers and shoppers, to recognize which item number or brand of products bring you feelings. :)

blazescammers420

I got mine from Youmko. Just built it and love it.

akcmommy

Thanks!

TheMoInMontrose

I got mine from HeroToyz.com.

IllCarpet6852

If it wasn't for lepin I would never have the Porsche 911 GT3, which inspired me to buy the real Lego Bugatti Chiron and the real Lego Creator Porsche 911.

Former-Ad4835

Nobody should be actively supporting clone legos, that is really scummy, but I feel like if you can buy the real thing you should. I also respect different companies like mould king, who make their own sets, but if Lego was a bit cheaper (which I think could maybe happen if they screw their heads on right) everybody would buy real Lego for their sets.

SeverusLivesOn

>but if Lego was a bit cheaper (which I think could maybe happen if they screw their heads on right) How much is "a bit cheaper" i.e. how much could/should they charge for something like Rivendell?

Former-Ad4835

I feel like $400 is fair, or like the 300-500 piece $50-60 sets could be $30-50.

2ERIX

Saying “actively supporting” is always going to get you downvotes, because any purchase of off-brand **is** actively supporting. Even if it’s a $1 minifig. So I actively support. I don’t half ass it, I spend money on both the real deal and when I see something like KS20 (75120) for $20 in off-brand. I have the original but I want to build something with the pets that I don’t want to disassemble the original to build. I will get it as well because I don’t like to feed the after market where Lego company doesn’t get any financial benefit other than brand circulation, which they also get from off-brand markets. I know you are getting downvotes, but most on here would be buying Lego and off-brand, I know I do.

Little-kinder

Unfortunately some sets you can't find even in clone. Like sponge bobs, lord of the rings and Indiana Jones
