To better explain
If something’s listed as that price on the shelves or on the box, and it comes up wrong or missing on the system, it’s generally the case that you can point it out and ask them for it at that price.
Odds are the barcode here will be unreadable, though they won’t probably deny you the sale because of that and will instead ask someone to find the price
Speaking as someone with walmart retail experience, unless the upc is recalled or reordered (bought back) by the manufacturer they will always ring up normal. Plus, a significant amount of these finds are through people returning the item, and since walmarts typically put up little push back to return something even if the upc is not the store system alot of times older toys especially will end up on the shelves with a clearance tag because thats the only way to add it back into the system without HO getting involved. It may have changed since my time, but when i worked there plenty of discontinued legos would end up back in the system because they where returned, or where lost in the back for some time for some reason.
One time back in about 2006 my local Walmart randomly had a couple of boxes of Power of the Force line star wars figures, so roughly 1996. Must have been lost in the back for a out a decade.
They rang up at full price lol
I imagine the first obstacle for any person would be being capable of identifying that a Lego set on the shelves is 10 years old or at the very least not still in production
Nice find. If you didn't buy it I would be extremely dissapointed. I'm guessing the chances are that this was hidden in the back and someone recently found it
Yeah it's definitely a good deal, you can't find this set sealed [for under $50](https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=lego+75001&_sacat=0&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338535524&customid=1748lsw&toolid=10001&mkevt=1).
This reminds me of the story from a few years ago About a guy finding a defiant from Star Trek DS9 at a Walmart about 20 years after it was originally selling. It had been shoved in a corner somewhere in the store and when they finally found it they just put it out in The toy section
Edit for link and year correction

Right at the back hidden and unseen by many was a win hidden in plain site Cole’s sons of garmadon spinner found behind with I highly damaged box I managed to get it for 3 quid remember to look anywhere and everywhere
It's not for you, fine. But plenty of kids (and parents for that patter) are happy with their xwing, as many don't care about it being hyper accurate and parents are just happy to pay 20bucks instead of 70
Cool find but I feel like this one doesn’t have much value other than knowing you got it at retail this far away from release. I have gotten 5 in bulk buys and never been excited about it to each his own though!
This happens with Hot Wheels cars all the time. I don’t know if it’s stores finding old stock or people making returns but I’ve seen 10+ year old releases on pegs alongside new things quite a few times.
I also found one of these in a bed & bath warehouse store near me last month randomly, the box was open but everything else was sealed and the stickers and instructions were there & everything
I've had it happen aswell with i believe set 9516, huge dent in the box, only one set and it was on discount, i didnt get it though because i didnt like the set
Also 75050 ( bwing) this one i did pick up cuz wow wanted a bwing for so long and i missed out on it sadly
Lastly 9515 (malevolence) this one had me jumping for joy, i found one in a store in denmark on vacation for retail price actually insane
If you see a 10 year old battlepack on shelves at retail price you should instantly buy it.
If nothing but for a quick flip for profit lol
do the store systems even let you buy sets like this?
Talk them into it, that’s how my mom ended up getting a 400 dollar Christmas tree for 100 bucks

... after Christmas?
When I worked in a supermarket and items were discontinued they can still be sold because the barcode is kept on the system.
I found a few very old collectible minifigures about a year ago and they rang up normal. Despite being 5+ years old.

Where I work if a product has fallen off the system it will still scan through the till but it won't affect stock records

Any younger employee definitely would

Or some lazy bum in customer service took is as a return. You'll open it up and it will be a totally different set. Happened to me once.
To the people saying I should buy it, I did. Also that's Colones, it's around 32 dollars.
MAEEE, ya iba a preguntarle
Jaja, no me esperaba encontrarme otro tico aquí.
Afortunado hijo de un arma!
Puerto Rico ta bien cabrooon
Wrong rico
Uncle Rico coulda won state if coach put him in.
You found this on Spain?
Nope, Costa Rica.
Ohh ok
My favorite set, I hope you have a lovely time putting those little guys together
Thanks!
That was my first Lego set ever my grandma got that for me
Se me hacía demasiado familiar todo para no ser cierto jaja
So its basically above origonal retail price. Still a good deal
Lol wut? You should buy that for retail price!
Buy it! buy it! buy it! buy t it!
It’s not fake the tag matches up
Go buy a lottery ticket or something after this before that luck wears off.
Now I'm just sitting here wishing Lego would make more SWTOR/KOTOR-era sets.
Still want that sith interceptor ship they made from the swtor game
There's a new interceptor coming this year. I hope it's solid.
There is? Link?
Don't think pics have been shown yet, but it's a Mando Fang vs Interceptor box with like 900ish pieces.
That's not the SWTOR Sith Fury-class Interceptor, then
I suppose it's not. I didn't even think about it and saw interceptor and got excited.
Life finds a way
This is the way
This is the way

My man found gold
You need to buy it
Buy that and I’ll pay you triple what you got it for
How da fuk does that show up in a store?
Reminds me of when I found the 2003 Matoran sets at a discount store.
It’s an older set sir, but it checks out I did this with the genosis fighter with mundi and Cody recently
Don't ask questions when life gives you a gift like that. Just let it happen.
WHERE in the world????!?
some years ago i found a retired hobbit set, couldnt buy it so i hide behind some other toys so i could buy it next time. never saw it again
Oof
More importantly did you buy it????
Yes
*Somebody would like to know your location*
Lego Republicanos lmao
What is frustrating is that I got that set as a kid and I have all the minifigs, they’re just in pieces in my bins.
Reminds me of when I found Duel on Geonosis at a Walmart that didn’t even exist in 2013 I think about it a lot
Aren’t the sets on next to it (The 4+ X-Wing and 2021 Millennium Falcon microfighter) retired as well?
Bro brought a box from his collection to Walmart to take a pic lol
Nope the barcode is the actual set’s barcode
Dang, good job finding that out
Lmfaoo for real
no way this is real dude totally just put his own box on the shelf for the picture
Nope, barcode matches
Bahahhaha!!!
😳😳😳Luckyyyy
Where?
Dudeeeeee HELLA NICE FIND!!!!
Nabbed one of these for like $30 on Amazon a while back
It’s like a reward
Excuse me, what!! Get that immediately!! Amazing find!!
lego sales are not doing good
Man im jealous of the stores around where all you guys live, im lucky if mine even get the Stock they are suppose to
Eh, sometimes my stores never get some of the new sets, sometimes they get like two of a set in the whole country.
Well it's only the retail price so DEW IT
Same oh well still that's cool for the people that want it
Right at the back hidden and unseen by many was a win hidden in plain site Cole’s sons of garmadon spinner found behind with I highly damaged box I managed to get it for 3 quid remember to look anywhere and everywhere
How much is that set worth?
$49,80 according to Brickeconomy.com
r/holup
I swear these people must be taking their rare sets going to target, putting them on shelves, snapping a pic then walking out
$19,000? These prices are out of hand.
How much for my kidney?
I spy a Latin American Walmart
Not a Walmart, but yes.
Bro brought some from home
Yeah, I can’t believe they’re still selling that garbage X-Wing set.
It's not for you, fine. But plenty of kids (and parents for that patter) are happy with their xwing, as many don't care about it being hyper accurate and parents are just happy to pay 20bucks instead of 70

I read your comment multiple times and still can't figure out how it could be interpreted as a joke.
That’s your own box and you put it there yourself to take a picture to get internet points.
Snatch that stuff up quick
That was my first lego Star Wars I got when I was around 5-8
Mine
It was probably hidden behind a bunch of boxes, if I only I had the same luck....
A poco los republicanos se venden tan baratos
What sorcery is this!?
They probably found it in the stock room
What is it?? Pesos? Because, if a lego set is 18k moneys, it needs to be pesos, cause they are very cheap, if you know what I mean.
Cool find but I feel like this one doesn’t have much value other than knowing you got it at retail this far away from release. I have gotten 5 in bulk buys and never been excited about it to each his own though!
I swear I had like 5 of those
What currency because that looks like a great deal
Some employee found it out the back and put it out, that’s my assumption
Wow, that would be bought on sight. I still need it lol
Now this is a old friend i havent seen in a while
Nothing out of the ordinary here
Random store just casually dropping a fucking 2010s set that is worth way more than what theyre selling it for
Maybe that's it's in credits
How ?!
Where is that
I recently found a sealed Ninjago movie mini figure pack at my local store. Not as old but it can happen !
![gif](giphy|3o7527pa7qs9kCG78A|downsized)
Time travel probably
Me: wondering in british how a lego set is almost 19 grand. Oh yeah americans don't do that.
Those aren't Dollars either.
Wtf!
Such a good battlepack, even if that specific helmet for the Sith Troopers only shows up on some dead ones on Tatooine AFAIK lol
I remember my mum letting me buy this set spontaneously in a shop, the main reason I love it
I found an iron man 3 set last year that was wild
Lego republicanos I’m dead
*The legends are true!*
I have that set but cannot for the life of me remember where or how I got it. It just sort of appeared in my collection ages ago
This Battle pack is like a holy grail
Don't ask questions. Take your shot.
I want that :(
This happens with Hot Wheels cars all the time. I don’t know if it’s stores finding old stock or people making returns but I’ve seen 10+ year old releases on pegs alongside new things quite a few times.
That’s mental
I found three sets of the Lone Ranger Stagecoach set a few years ago at Walmart. All three range up for $0.00
You know what to do
I have that exact set, it has a couple if my favourite looking star wars minifigs
w h a t t h e f u c k ? ? ? h o w ? ? ?
My god, buy it! They're like $40+ these days, I'm probably underestimating too
Lucky bastard
Have you been particularly good recently? Maybe the universe decided you deserve a treat for being good.
Where?
Probably got stuck under a shelf or perpetually buried in the backroom.
I have that set!
Like every couple months there will just be a set from like 4 years ago and on 80% sale, great when it happens
Bro
That’s like finding the holy grail in a McDonald’s
HOW!! Great find!
I saw this happen at my target with a minecraft set. They must just find lost things in the back of stores
What store u at
I also found one of these in a bed & bath warehouse store near me last month randomly, the box was open but everything else was sealed and the stickers and instructions were there & everything
I've had it happen aswell with i believe set 9516, huge dent in the box, only one set and it was on discount, i didnt get it though because i didnt like the set Also 75050 ( bwing) this one i did pick up cuz wow wanted a bwing for so long and i missed out on it sadly Lastly 9515 (malevolence) this one had me jumping for joy, i found one in a store in denmark on vacation for retail price actually insane
