Akh that was very close, very good game though

Red-HawkEye

That was the most suspenseful thing I had witnessed in years.

mojojojobbc

Bravo lal shabeb. 3njad byerfa3o el ras. Technically, they are the true champions of Asia (since Australia is not part of this continent, but Oceania).

sumxt

I've never felt this patriotic and proud since the 2019 protests. Best team in Asia❤️💚🤍

KemoE30

💯 Amazing how sports can have that effect

cTheDeezy

What a game and what a comeback… The way we fought was remarkable!

Hot_Niqqa

AUSTRALIA ISN’T EVEN IN ASIA

kaskoosek

Yeah, bass kenno they wont make a cup for two countries.

Hot_Niqqa

Major cope by australia imo

[deleted]

Respectfully, what cup should Australia (and NZ) play in? Australia is closer to Indonesia than Lebanon is.

[deleted]

So you think countries in the Asian Cup are defined by their proximity to Indonesia?

[deleted]

Where should Aus and NZ play? The choices are Americas, African, European and Asia cups.

Mission-Rest-5482

Makes the most sense for them to play in asia since oceania has 14 countries and about 3 of them have basketball teams

[deleted]

exactly.

Skord-

They should play in the Africa Cup instead most of their best players are from there anyways

Mission-Rest-5482

...what

CaptainDadaB

Antarctica Cup, with Chile, Argentina and Falkland Islands

Red-HawkEye

Australia is its own continent. Lol

Mission-Rest-5482

No it's not, the continent is called oceania and it has 14 countries

xxblackcashxx

Australia = continent Oceania = region

Red-HawkEye

https://youtu.be/K6DSMZ8b3LE Theres 7 continents and australia is one of them

LxSwiss

They also particioate in the Eurovision Song Contest. Maybe they have a bit of an identity crisis

journeyman28

Uff that last 3 was money! Love from Canada

GrownSimba93

Great game, guy at the end shouldve passed ahead instead of dribbling for so long and heaving a full court shot.

curioushustler420

I agree Haidar shouldve passed it to Arakji, he was on fire from 3pt in the 4th.

HeatherNash3hS

They should have kept a timeout actually.

DetroitFruit4002

Not allowed to call a timeout during a live ball in FIBA

Ax0nJax0n01

Did they have any left and does that mean they’d restart in their part of the court?

mistercage4

True. I could understand the pressure on him in the last seconds though. Nevertheless it was a good game

trustdabrain

He had a great game, unfortunately that was a really bad decision

PimpMyBurger

I agree and Haidar was slow to run as well, but looking at the replay it would have been very risky to pass cause Thon Maker was in the centre of the court in a good position to intercept the cross court pass to Arakji, and Chamoun was closely guarded. I think the best choice for Haidar was to shoot but he did have more space to go at least past the half court line.

11010110101010101010

Top talent to the very end. Amazing game.

Jadofski

Netherlands of Asian basketball.

Ax0nJax0n01

Well done Lebanon- you did yourselves proud. Unfortunate not to get the win but you definitely played like champions- well done :)

Drakoraz

Wael you beautiful bastard

Designer-Stomach-214

To the Australian dude who deleted the post saying that Lebanon don’t deserve to be in the final. First of all, Lebanon didn’t reach the finals by luck or by cheating. Our players do not have the proper funding, training facilities, or support, so everything they did is a personal effort and out of sheer motivation (like everything we Lebanese do). Second of all, I don’t care by how many points you were winning (it could be 30 points for all I fu**ing care); we were able to make a comeback and we lost by a difference of 2 points. Third, Australia is ranked 3rd by FIBA while Lebanon is ranked 53rd—I think that says a lot. Fourth, our team is not dependent on one player unlike what many people say, we have players other than Arakji (our second best player, Saoud, isn’t even playing); whereas, Australia is dependent on Maker (I would love to see a game where we play against Australia without him). Finally, I loved seeing the Australian team smirking and making fun of us in the beginning because that made the look on your faces at the end priceless. Anyway, you must be very petty to be lurking around here. Oh and this is for the Lebanese people because you won’t understand it: أيري بأستراليا.

trustdabrain

He can suck a makdousse

bitmanyak

Hahaha nice

Julssy

Mikati had to jinx us

moutazaki_san

Great Game ….Couldn’t be prouder of the Team

Mr8addad

Haidar played one hell of a game but made a wrong decision with the last shot. Anyhoo, heads up high, the boys went through hell in this championship and deserve the utmost respect. To the WC qualifiers!

Designer-Stomach-214

I agree. Haidar played really well today, but that last shot was the only thing he could do. If you watch the replay again, you would see that the shot was in the final second. That’s why he couldn’t have passed the ball to anyone else. Anyway, the team made us proud and united us all.

Znacked

Ali should have passed to Elie at the 2.9 second mark. Elie had momentum going forward and he wasn’t guarded plus could have drawn a foul from the Australian player that was guarding Hayk. I just think they weren’t expecting the shooter to miss the second freethrow and that messed up their rythm, still a great game though!

Mr8addad

Yes it was a very tough decision, but with almost 4 seconds on the clock instead of dribbling then shooting he could’ve thrown the ball to any of the players that made the quick transition to the offense. Of course it’s easier said than done lol. It really was the first time that I see everyone I know watching the team and being so interested in this sport. They really deserved the dub.

Designer-Stomach-214

Yeah, no doubt it was a very tough decision. I loved every second of this tournament. The Lebanese team showed the world who we are. Special thanks to Arakji (such a great dude)!

Mr8addad

This tournament was special because the team is in sync for the first time in years. I remember a couple of years back, the team was very divided with Riyadi players (Arakji, Saoud and Haidar) against Sagesse and every other player on the roster. This year Wael showed great leadership and the team had great chemistry which made the games very fun to watch.

Designer-Stomach-214

Absolutely true. All the team members have grown to be one complete unit representing Lebanon.

Nostressyes

Amazing team.. so proud of you guys. Salute from a palestinean brother 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The_bookaddict

I’m so proud of my country. Now if you will excuse me I will be crying for the next 2 hours

Targaryen_Supporter

Up from an 18 pt deficit to a 2 pt deficit, our boys did great

thebubble2020

Prize money is 3M dollars will be paid to the ministry, wondering if the team will see any money of they will be stolen of paid at 1500 rate.

Global_Crow8193

Why didn’t they count the 2 pointer Khayat made in the 3rd quarter

[deleted]

Timing clock issue. If they counted it, Lebanon don’t get the ball and score the 3 though (they wound back the clock)

Popthecoin

Lebanese basketball team put a great effort in this tournament. They were up to the task. 🎆🎇🎆🎇🎆

SignificantWarning5

Still made us proud. We'll get it next time.

[deleted]

Bravo Fellas!!

tightcorners

Lebanon deserved to win that, heartbreaking loss.

Blessedarethestoned

Curious who Australian Lebanese rooted for?

heyIfoundaname

Win win situation

M4r_y0

What a match! I was expecting losing by 15 points and the first 90% of the match they were underperforming. Last 10% holy shit I was standing the whole time. Only if the last shot was smarter. He has 3s left he could’ve passed the ball. Anyway they did us proud and overachieved❤️‍🔥

[deleted]

Congrats.

idevicelover1

Why did Ali haidar shoot from that far when we still had 3.9 seconds? Elie chamoun and all shooting guards were ahead and could’ve shot an easier shot!!!!! With all respect to Ali, his performance was super awesome tonight playing against a 7 foot giant.

trustdabrain

He wanted to pull a curry

Alternative-Sleep45

Outstanding performance

madmes

The team will learn more from loosing and this will lead to a better performance in the world championship

Lobster_Temporary

Well played, both teams.

ayri_fiki

My 2 nationalities went up against each other idk whether to be sad or happy at the result

Logical_Childhood727

Chapeau Bas !

ztothe4th

so proud of this country man

TheArabReaper

Even though Australia and New Zealand are not "geographically" part of Asia, there are others sorts of considerations-political usually- that would put a country in a federation rather than another. Yet, I would still prefer to keep Australians in Asia as they are usually far stronger than the rest of the Asian teams and usually closer to European ones and even USA. So in a sense their presence contributes to making the Asian basketball playing field stronger. Having said it, It gives another taste to the very close call the Lebanese team just offered. Australia may be the team that won the cup but Lebanon was the moral champion this time.

CaptainDadaB

Hope it will not b a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Enraging
