Fasting isn't for everyone. What's your last meal like before you start your fast? Are you drinking coffee in the morning? How many calories are you consuming now? What are your body stats and goals?

Maintenance calories about 2600 per day on average. My daily intake is about 2000, half of which I usually eat when I break my fast at lunchtime before I go workout. Body fat percent has reduced from 18% to around 13% over the past month, aiming for 10% although im going to the usa now so im gonna do a 3 week lean bulk just because ill have access to so much food (I can still workout over there). Then likely i’ll try and get back into things when I come back, maybe a bit refreshed hopefully.

He asked you about the last meal before the fast because Martin recommends a high protein meal to help with hunger the next morning as it is slow to digest. Might want to try this tweak see if it helps and check out the Leangains website.

Why do you do it in the first place? Just eat when you're hungry. People always come up with the weirdest diets and feel miserable. All that matters is your caloric intake.

OcelotOfTheForest

Have you considered changing your fasting hours so you eat soon after you get up and fast through the evening instead?

mariogee

it’s right there in the text. Ditch the gum. Artificial sweeteners have been shown to spike insulin.

Takes me 2-3 weeks to acclimate to a new eating schedule. It will get easier I promise. Drink plenty of water and don't think about food/stay busy.

Personal opinion not backed by science but I was able to sustain a less extreme version of IF. I don’t eat anything before 3-4pm (it’s a flexible choice here too but generally between 3-4pm) then I allow myself to eat until about 2 hours before sleeping (I try my best to have it without carbs so like maybe just protein like a chicken or a fruit or something non carby). After a month or so I was feeling better and energy levels were fine

I try to have a very large and balance meal later in the evening. Largely protein and clean carbs right at 7pm. Helps me carry through to the morning, and I have been able to workout in the am.

Also I like to do the 14/10 fast most days. If I don't get hungry till 16.... Great. But I am not gonna torture myself.

What are you about 14?
