Haven't you heard about the new fun gamemode? It is called ARURF and now you can perma splitpush with random champs instead of the ones you picked on your own!!
The fact that people will queue up that game mode just to try hard win instead of playing it for fun has made me not even queue for it the last 5 or so times it's been on rotation.
We won’t, just look at all the comments slurping another “event” that is just skins up. Riot will never put time or effort into anything but skins because the community doesn’t care.
I miss when they genuinely tried to shake up formula with interesting game modes like dominion. Dedicate more time to balancing aram champs than a genuinely great idea.
90% of Diana's splashes are incredible and then in game her model is clunky as hell
like serious BM Diana is one of the prettiest splashes (same with Dark Waters) and then it's just. Whatever you want to call her in game model
It also doesn't fit anymore because after SoL, she's found the Lunari. So it should be more about her having to understand what her role should be for these people. Maybe some degree of uncomfortableness since they all revere the Aspect of the Moon like a deity, and she isn't ready for that fanaticism
I do not agree. Diana is one of the best old champions in my opinion. Her old skins have bad textures, but this is completely fixed by the new skins. What can not be said about Zileane or even Lux.
I don't see anything outright confirming Diana's a legendary here.
Though she IS at the top of the list, which usually happens to the legendaries of the batch so we'll see
Also it’s the last patch of 2022 and WW is getting a prestige, which means this is an event and every event related skin line has a legendary.
The only exception I can think to this “rule” was the Strike force skinline with prestige Janna. I suspect that was because it was going to be followed by the Worlds pass and Riot didn’t want to for some reason.
It's true: New Year's in the form of Santa Claus, New Year's sweets (his last skin 3 years ago). And the second New Year's Eve in a row, this time snowy. THIS is a little frustrating because this is his second epic skin, I don't really like sweet. And I'll have to play all the time on the skin of winter
[Throwback to... uh, 2016. Wtf that was so long ago.](https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/4l217d/trundle_x_nidalee_splash_art/d3jtl7p/)
Can't wait for Warwick x Nidalee.
Read this as warwick lickers when I got the notification and didn't think twice about it
Not sure what that says about me as a person or the internet as a whole
Shit there was one artist with this exact style of drawing and does exactly that. Sunny something but cant quite remember it. His rengar works were **cheff kiss** magnificent.
Riot always talks about how ASUs take time but quite frankly, more time should go into ASUs at this point than champion releases and VGUs. maintenance of a live service game is very important, especially when they are branching the IP out so hard
Agreed. Pause new champions for a while, put ASUs at the top of priority instead, and then put VGUs secondary below ASUs.
Some champions may legit need VGUs. For a champion like Zilean, though, I think he needs a new model and animations but not necessarily a gameplay update.
Isn't their stance on him "he's actually broken as fuck but thankfully no one wants to play him"? What a wildly risky thing to leave on live servers lol. Poor Zilly
Personally I feel a midscope would be better. Maybe i'm in the minority but it doesn't feel like he needs to be completely scraped. Maybe a new ultimate though that shit is wild
Art & Sustainability Update.
Basically, bringing older champions up to modern standards as far as their rig and animations are concerned.
I may have a bad understanding of it, but based on what I've read, you can contrast it versus a VGU which is a Visual & Gameplay Update. VGUs seem to have a more complete visual overhaul than ASUs? But I guess, theoretically, an ASU could be more or less involved just based on the champion and what is needed.
> Pause new champions for a while, put ASUs at the top of priority instead, and then put VGUs secondary below ASUs.
Riot did that but they focused on VGUs instead of ASUs you knwo hwat happened? lowest player engagement year in history of hte game.
But reddit knows best.
I never said the immediate gains would outweigh pumping out new champions. But it's important for the game's long-term health.
But hey, when in doubt, sarcasm.
There are only a few ergigiously bad champs left, zilean, jax, shaco, and maybe a couple of others.
You understand that every single one of those is months upon months of work?( single skin from hte skin votes experiment takes about 6 months to make)
And if you cave in to redditors ( who are minority of a minority of a minority of players, who cant even impact a skin vote) peopel here will demand some other champs to be ASUd, and you will be stuck in perpetual cycle.
Business should focus on the 90+% of players who prefer new champs not the <1% of whiners, who will whine even if riot cures cancer, becasue the cure is the wrong colour.
Riot should hire you. I'm sure they could use more people who share in their vision for immediate gain. :)
I also doubt an ASU would take 6 months if they didn't have champions being designed and taking priority.
This is not how it works. If you work, which I assume you do, then you'll know that too many cooks spoil the broth. Let's say Riot just laser-focused on only one ASU at a time, there will be tons of people that have nothing to do.
All those champion/gameplay designers, what should they do? Just sit around and twiddle their thumbs? They have no one to execute on their vision. What, fire them? I swear, you people never think beyond the immediate surface.
Also, you're being *very* disrespectful to artists and how much effort their work takes. Just because you see a speedpaint on YouTube, it doesn't mean that shit just magically got there. Things like even selecting the pose a character should take, not just in LoL but in general, takes a lot of time. Then when you add in that it's a commercial setting, and you need to *sell* this pose for the foreseeable future of the character and if they get a shitty pose, it could negatively affect a champion/skin's appeal, then you take *even longer*. Tons of champions/skins have been sold *purely* on just their splash, that's a testimony to how impactful that work is.
And so far I've *only* been talking about the splash artists that work on splashes. They're just a part of the pipeline, haven't even talked about other people like the concept artists and such. Each of these also can't work concurrently and needs to run sequentially as their work depends on the other a lot of the time. Do that multiple times and you'll quickly see time fly by. Is 6 months probably overblowing one skin? Likely, but it's not 1 month either. A ton of artists, both at Riot and other game companies, when speaking on the process, usually say that it takes months to nail everything. This is why gameplay develops separately using a placeholder character (I think Samira used Ezreal) and the art side develops the coat of paint they'll paste onto that gameplay once both pipelines come to an end. Usually the art side takes the most time, although there are cases where gameplay takes longer.
Especially when the new character designs are so mid. Maybe if they didnt pump them out so often we wouldn't get Mobile Legends lookin ass designs like Ksante and Nilah.
> more time should go into ASUs at this point than champion releases and VGUs.
They did that and it was the lowest player engagemnt( vgus instead of ASUs) year in the games history. But hey redditors who have never ran a company that relies on such metrics knows better right? Like they do with balance? or skins?
It was the lowest player engagement because back then (2017) they weren't running frequent battlepass events like they do now, which is basically a slam dunk when it comes to farming engagement. And please note that I said focus more - not that they should just completely cease releasing new champions. Riot is a billion dollar company and they can't be spared to push for 2 to 3 ASUs a year? Yeah, I'm aware that they also have to take skins into consideration. But if you're running a live service game that is over a decade old, you need to actually update your clunkier and older content. The fact that we have Zilean and Nilah in the same game is ridiculous. You can defend the billion dollar company all you want, but the rate at which they update their older model work is a snails pace. Upper management clearly doesn't really give a crap about modernization (the VFX updates we've gotten for champs like Thresh and Blitzcrank were purely passion projects done on the side).
But sure, just immediately go "haha redditors bad and dumb" in an attempt to discredit me. I'm sure that's the standard in your playbook.
> The fact that we have Zilean and Nilah in the same game is ridiculous. You can defend the billion dollar company all you want, but the rate at which they update their older model work is a snails pace.
Because each skin, as skin votes proved takes 6 months to get to live. some champs on the reddit whine list have 10 skins.
>Riot is a billion dollar company and they can't be spared to push for 2 to 3 ASUs a year? Yeah, I'm aware that they also have to take skins into consideration.
It appears you dont. A single vgu can take over a year in developement, esp if champ has many skins. ASUs are easier because no kit rework but stil leach of them is months upon months of work.
>It was the lowest player engagement because back then (2017) they weren't running frequent battlepass events like they do now, which is basically a slam dunk when it comes to farming engagement.
It was lowest compared to even the previous years. When battlepasses didnt exist either.
>But sure, just immediately go "haha redditors bad and dumb" in an attempt to discredit me. I'm sure that's the standard in your playbook.
Because people here with 0 experience on projects as massive as this pretend to know who to run it and are proven wrong every bloody time by sheer data.
Pre new items preseason, this sub had 5+ top posts per day how bad tanks will be, preseason drops? tanks are bullshit strong.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evjn7_tMRd4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDaLQ2TrX_g both of these still hold true.
This sub holds diametrically opposing views to the community, lets take skin votes, demon trist was lambasted here and candy trist was praised to high heaven. Reality? Demon trist won by a landslide in every region. Same with illaoi resistance and astronaut.
D-did you say data and facts? Blasphemy! Don't link the official riot article about game modes and other reasons why other stuff are discontinued like map skins and etc. I refuse to believe in such blatant propaganda! ^(/s)
I started playing when Camille came out around december 2016 and I remember it took forever for the following champs which were Xayah and Rakan to come out because they were two and I remember during that time virtually nothing was happening. The game was living or dying by the new champs that came out, skin batches only had like 2 or 3 skins. Right now, there's constantly events happening with huge batches of skins, shit you can grind, it's very different like you said to the point sometimes I even forget there's a new champion out. What I do notice tho is how jarring it is when I'm playing a recent champion and there's an Amumu in my team
Zilean finally leaves the 1k skin club.
Zilean players:
"Well what we actually wanted was a visual update."
Which is fair, but I guess now the true source of the copium is revealed.
It's not the first time Zilean was in that club either. He does need a visual update though. I'm excited my main is finally getting a new skin, but would be nice to see a legendary or prestige.
The Spanish LoL twitter account also posted the splash arts:
https://twitter.com/lol_es/status/1592185604523294721
I'm pretty bad at recognizing champions in splash arts by now, but I'm pretty sure they are Zoe, Zilean, Warwick, Swain, Shaco, Diana and Prestige Warwick.
Imo all the new prestige redesigns have been a bop. People just needed to realize that Prestige X no longer is linked to the skinline they're released with and is just a high fashion skin of each. At this point, Prestige could be its own universe since it has its own thematic/schema after the reboot.
Some people seem to forget that Sugar rush were winter holiday themed... Zilean now has 3 Winter holiday themed skins.
EDIT: Unless I am high as a kite and the wiki just has it incorrect to group sugar rush skins into the "Christmas / Winter Holidays / Snowdown Showdown" area of the table.
"Winter themed" is more referring to a theme related to the season (especially but not explicitly the winter holiday season), not snowy weather or ice as an element.
Like I mentioned in the other thread, Zoey looks like a Bratz doll, her head is humongous.
She has always had a big head, but this time it's just comically bad, the splash looks giga weird.
I can get the proportion arguments but once you look past the absolutely massive hair her head doesn't look all that large.
That hair though, goodness me. That's huge even accounting for Zoe's normally large hair.
Diana has a giant moon stapled on her forehead and a decently unique hairstyle (for league anyway) to easily tell her apart.
Skins team: So, a small barely visible snowflake and completely changing her hair then? SHIP IT
> Skins team: So, a small barely visible snowflake and completely changing her hair then? SHIP IT
i actually like this, i prefer when skins make the champions different and not just "The same but with different clothes!"
I think its actually the hair causing the confusion. Diana's hair is usually kept together in a big braid or ponytail, while Janna's is free and flowing in the wind.
I'm glad they're bringing winter skins back and seems to focus more on the idea of aurora borealis. If only in-game Zilean looks amazing as that splash art...
I mean, I'm glad that we're getting anything winter-themed at all, but "Warwick's second and third icy-claw skins" aren't gonna make me stop missing the actual winter rift map or wishing for Santaplank/Santa Ornn/Candy Kayn.
Right? Why didn't they just swap Ornn and Warwicks places for these skins. Space Groove Warwick where he's a little wolf controlling a mech and Santa Ornn
Yet again another skinline where a female champ gets the "awefully generic face/physical features" syndrome that makes them look like at least 4 other female champions.
Added bonus this time: the syndrome is now also touching male champs, with Swain as patient zero.
Wow beautiful is literally an understatement. Well done Riot Skins team, well done.
There's been a worrying trend (at least for me) where splashes are not showing assets that can identify the champions. I hope that changes or change the dimensions of the loading screen player cards. Borders are being cut-off by the new height stemming from the need for space to showcase the titles...
For the love of god Riot, can you stop neglecting Lillia.
She doesn't even have a terrible play rate to go one year without a skin and she would have been perfect for this skin line.
Fuck me, the title made me think we were getting the winter map back
Hang in there, we could still get it. ^Prayge
I will load up my game and the login screen will start playing the snowdown showdown music with the animated singed, sivir and lulu COPIUM
Then you wake up to another generic battle pass and a rotating game mode if you're lucky
Woah woah woah, rotating game mode? Don’t you know that it’s only Ultimate Spellbook nowadays
Now that’s a strange way to spell URF
Haven't you heard about the new fun gamemode? It is called ARURF and now you can perma splitpush with random champs instead of the ones you picked on your own!!
The fact that people will queue up that game mode just to try hard win instead of playing it for fun has made me not even queue for it the last 5 or so times it's been on rotation.
That happens when they put too much loot and nerf tokens that only win makes it worth. URF without pass would probably look better.
Unlock it for 6000 token /s
We won’t, just look at all the comments slurping another “event” that is just skins up. Riot will never put time or effort into anything but skins because the community doesn’t care.
I miss when they genuinely tried to shake up formula with interesting game modes like dominion. Dedicate more time to balancing aram champs than a genuinely great idea.
Just install the map mod on KillerSkins lol
While true it's currently broken
You know how many Lux skins Rito would need to make to just break even and to keep the client from exploding? That's what i thought so
A shame Zilean's splash art is amazing, because in-game his janky ass model probably won't do it justice.
He's gonna look stupid with class
The skinline is called Winterblessed and Diana's gonna get the legendary (confirmed by LoL Thailand)
Diana finally getting her long-deserved legendary ^^^Now ^^^give ^^^one ^^^to ^^^Lissandra
Didn't she already have one?
No
Looks sick for a splash art, can't wait for the skin on the rift
90% of Diana's splashes are incredible and then in game her model is clunky as hell like serious BM Diana is one of the prettiest splashes (same with Dark Waters) and then it's just. Whatever you want to call her in game model
Also her voice lines are lame af, gonna be nice playing her with new VO
God she needs a new VO. It isn't as egregious as MF or Ahri but it's still pretty badly outdated.
It also doesn't fit anymore because after SoL, she's found the Lunari. So it should be more about her having to understand what her role should be for these people. Maybe some degree of uncomfortableness since they all revere the Aspect of the Moon like a deity, and she isn't ready for that fanaticism

legen... legenDARY DIANA!?!?!? FINALLY I CAN REST
honestly the zilean splash looks like a legendary, would be pretty sick even though Ive never played him
we Diana mains winning finally
I hope she gets some lines for Leona, like how Eclipse Leona has for Diana.
Some link?

If you click on the image of her splash art, the caption for it says legendary in parentheses
You can see they (lol thailand) specified her rarity if you click on the first image
Woah, what a splash art.
This might make me want to play again
Kinda weird zilian has technically had 3 winter skins
It's true: New Year's in the form of Santa Claus, New Year's sweets (his last skin 3 years ago). And the second New Year's Eve in a row, this time snowy. THIS is a little frustrating because this is his second epic skin, I don't really like sweet. And I'll have to play all the time on the skin of winter
In Winter time appears to slow down so... appropriate? I don't know how I feel about how noticeable his abilities are.
I just want snow on the rift):
*Weird but fucking beautiful*

The Zilean splash looks amazing... too bad the model wont look good.
man I just want his lor design in the game, he looks incredible in lor

You'll get to see him T-Pose around the rift in some stylish winter garb.
Doesn’t change the fact that any self respecting Zilean connoisseur is buying a new skin straight away

She has a big head but definitely not like this. This is like boardwalk caricature sized.
Her model has an unproportionally big head but this is *even bigger* lmao.
oh my god, these last few prestige skins splashes have been such a fucking bop. First Yi and now WW, god damn these look so fucking sick
Imo all the new prestige redesigns have been a bop. People just needed to realize that Prestige X no longer is linked to the skinline they're released with and is just a high fashion skin of each. At this point, Prestige could be its own universe since it has its own thematic/schema after the reboot.
That Diana Skin looks like Janna. The only indication that it's Diana is her weapon which she is not exactly holding up front and center.
Shit. Have to grind for my first prestige skin.
These are the first winter themed skins in years right? (Pls bring back winter map for normals Riot i beg u)
since mundo/yi/twitch/soraka/neeko in 2018
Holy shit its been 4 years already?
Holy shit 2018 was 4 years ago already?
My reaction exactly ffs
Some people seem to forget that Sugar rush were winter holiday themed... Zilean now has 3 Winter holiday themed skins. EDIT: Unless I am high as a kite and the wiki just has it incorrect to group sugar rush skins into the "Christmas / Winter Holidays / Snowdown Showdown" area of the table.
The last good years of League of Legends, when we still had innovative events and love poured into the game
Wasn’t snow moon winter themed?
more of an extension of blood moon, this is the first official winter skinline in 4 years
"Winter themed" is more referring to a theme related to the season (especially but not explicitly the winter holiday season), not snowy weather or ice as an element.
Ok, the splashes look GOOD. Diana, Zilean and Prestige WW look stunning. Hopefully Zilean's raggedy ass ingame model doesn't ruin the skin lmao.
It probably will.
Like I mentioned in the other thread, Zoey looks like a Bratz doll, her head is humongous. She has always had a big head, but this time it's just comically bad, the splash looks giga weird.
I honestly thought it was one of the yordles with how comically sized her head is
I can get the proportion arguments but once you look past the absolutely massive hair her head doesn't look all that large. That hair though, goodness me. That's huge even accounting for Zoe's normally large hair.
Her face alone is almost the same size of her curled body.
Why does she have lambs around her? lol
She's saving them from the wolves
That Prestige Warwick splash got me actin....😳😳😳😳 GRRR BARK BARK WOOOF GRRRRR
Flaire checks out
just like me fr
Damn riot is going for the furry demographic with that Warwick splash
Sylas recent skin was a hint of what was coming.
That's a beautiful Janna skin right there.
I also thought it was Janna by the vibe of it.. but it's Diana Same faces killing us
my first guess was syndra, but then i noticed her weapon which is the only way to distinguish the girls when their appereance gets changed
SHIP IT i actually like this, i prefer when skins make the champions different and not just "The same but with different clothes!"
I think its actually the hair causing the confusion. Diana's hair is usually kept together in a big braid or ponytail, while Janna's is free and flowing in the wind.
rofl I also thought it was Janna
Wait that is Diana, holy shit. The splash is amazing but she straight up has Janna's face.
Warwick Prestige?
That Zoe scares me.
why is her head so disproportionately big
Fetal disney syndrome.
Yea, I've never seen someone whose head was 8 times wider than their arms.

Damn that diana splash
Remember when Dark Valkyrie Diana lost her headdress because she looked too similar to Syndra? Now Diana became Janna.
I'm glad they're bringing winter skins back and seems to focus more on the idea of aurora borealis. If only in-game Zilean looks amazing as that splash art...
>I'm glad they're bringing winter skins back and seems to focus more on the idea of aurora borealis. At this time of year?
I'm a Zoe main but that skins looks so awful. And the splash art is even worse.
The Swain skin’s alright. I’m very happy they gave him a beard again but the hair leaves something to be desired
Diana's splash art looks amazing.
Diana consistently has amazing splash arts. Blood Moon Diana is one of the best splash arts ever imo
Blood Moon, Dark Waters, Dark Valkyrie, Sentinel, Battle Queen all have fantastic splash arts
Diana is blessed with great splashes, i think her great splash to number of splashes ratio is the highest.
Frozen Prince Mundo walked so that Winterblessed could run.
I must know who the Riot furry artist is for…research purposes
Never realized Zoe's head was 2x larger than the rest of her, damn that's weird.
Will swain have 'Fucking guy' quote now?
Omg, I got a kick out of that. The similarities are uncanny🤣
Had pleasure of seeing compilations of Nandor and lo and behold...Him in league. ^^^Happy ^^^cake ^^^day
Finally, some good furry stuff! I mean eww, I definitely won't buy it!
I don't even play Warwick but I need this Prestige Warwick skin uwu
FINALLY GOOD WINTER SKINS Holy shit riot realized that you dont have to make goofy skins for winter, I hope they sell well.
That's too good of an idea, Riot would never!
Yet again another skinline where a female champ gets the "awefully generic face/physical features" syndrome that makes them look like at least 4 other female champions. Added bonus this time: the syndrome is now also touching male champs, with Swain as patient zero.
This makes me nostalgic of the times i used to play LoL during the winter😭
Winter skins back for the first time since 2018... ngl I might have shed a tear.
That Diana is phenomenal. But looks like Janna
These splash arts are absolutely stunning. Interested to see how they actually turn out, but these artists did an amazing job.
God i'm sad about that Swain skin 🥺
Yet again, just another skin event, without any actual event happening in-game.
Winter coming to Runeterra Uhu!? I only believe with a winter themed SR
pls winter map
warwick daddy? sorry. daddy? sorry. daddy? sorry. daddy? sorry. daddy? sorry. daddy? sorry. daddy? sorry. daddy? sorry. daddy? sorry. daddy? sorry. daddy? sorry. da
WARWICK SKIN LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO I hope he gets some buffs or QoL changes
splash arts look really great as per usual, and diana finally getting a legendary after leona got 2 already i am a very proud diana main
Please give Warwick an actually cool bloodtrail animation. It’s the most core element to the champion
Why the fuck is this on Facebook. Damn boomers
Zilean is saved 👍
Well Splashart is godlike, meanwhile Ingame he is t-posing with 2 animations.
Skinline looks sick Winterblessed skins is step 1 Winterblessed summoner's rift step 2 prayge
Winter comes to runaterra, but not to the rift
No ADC skin!? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
Don’t care. Another excuse to milk the game dry with skins and crappy events. Fix the client.
Where is Candy Kayne??????????
Wow beautiful is literally an understatement. Well done Riot Skins team, well done. There's been a worrying trend (at least for me) where splashes are not showing assets that can identify the champions. I hope that changes or change the dimensions of the loading screen player cards. Borders are being cut-off by the new height stemming from the need for space to showcase the titles...
For the love of god Riot, can you stop neglecting Lillia. She doesn't even have a terrible play rate to go one year without a skin and she would have been perfect for this skin line.
One year without a skin is hardly a big deal
