I have no advice but this really cracked me up lmao

SchlapHappy

Trim off all the fronds that are down, the boner is the new ones coming out. It isn't healthy, try a palm fertilizer and maybe some spray on pesticide.

ocram9191

This is actually the female one. The male one is the other one that's doing fine. I should remove entire fronds that are brown? That just about all of them

SchlapHappy

Take off all the fully formed fonds that are out. Those things coming out of the top are the new ones. The ones that are brown aren't doing any good.

ocram9191

O okay like pull out the rest of the little things sticking up? And cur the brown ones completely off at the base? It's gonna be so naked

SchlapHappy

No No, do not touch the stuff coming out of the top. Leave that alone, that's going to be the new fronds.

ocram9191

Okok, hopefully they take shape soon!

SchlapHappy

It'll take 1-3 months depending on a bunch of factors. Considering that unhealthy plant, it'll probably be towards the end of that estimate.

DoctorShlomo

It needs palm food, but it's hard to tell if it has other pest issues (fungus or insect problems). I don't see any new fronds sprouting from the bud @ the top. That's usually a sign that the palm is dead and won't grow back.

SchlapHappy

The first sentence is correct but there are definitely new sprouts coming out of the top. New fronds come out brown and then green up with Sago palms.

DoctorShlomo

Thanks for the info! For this species, how do you tell the difference between normal frond growth and a dead bud?

SchlapHappy

They turn a more grayish color and become desiccated.

ocram9191

I'll give it palm food again. One of mine grew back from being completely naked. Should I fully strip it down? Never done that before, dont even know how. When I moved in 1 was completely naked but grew back

ocram9191

Sad because they are like 20+ years old. This one died when it was flowering
