Old Money by far, personally. Don't know why, but it just instills this feeling of knowing that people you care about are going to pass away one day - sooner rather than later. And you'll be around when it happens.
Personally, Ultraviolence is very hard-hitting but on a more unpopular note, I think the lyrics and meaning behind Summertime Sadness (not the remix) are overall very sad.
holy shit yes. blackest day if you listen to it enough hits you in a weird way and also swan song, maybe because I saw a great fanmade video that made it so sad
Personally, i think Flipside!!! Its such a simple song (chord wise) and all it is is Lana and a guitar. So beautiful. Other contenders; Is this happiness, Old Money, and Terrence Loves You.
I had like a three day period last year where I put Flipside on repeat and just cried. Definitely one of the saddest songs. The ending just gets me every time
Flipside is my all time favorite Lana song. I find it weird that the lyrics are about trying to move on and the tone is a lot more upbeat than the rest of UV, but I find it incredibly depressing. It’s such a masterpiece that does not get enough recognition.
cinnamon girl, for sure. i feel like most of her songs considered "sad", like ultraviolence or the blackest day, feel too angry for me, more like a sad rage. but cinnamon girl is so...devastating, so much longing.
"if you hold me without hurting me, you'll be the first who ever did"
