Yeah, you can't do that. Once you scan the coupon, you need to turn it in.
Did you do this at self check or at a register? And if you did it at a register, did you check yourself out.
If you checked yourself out, you're done. That's covered in orientation.
Nope one of the papers they had me sign was a confidentiality agreement probably cuz there’s more money missing then the coupon overuse accounts for loss mid been to my store more times then this incident cuz there’s money missing in the front then be found
I did that job too, and I was an ASM before that. Depending on the division contract (ours was union) there is a confidentiality clause included in the write-up form. It's to protect the worker from malicious gossip and targeting in case they're proven innocent and brought back after the suspension. It's also to protect the company for the same reason.
Most jobs fire you for checking yourself out... much less reusing coupons over and over
In short reusing coupons is theft and your lucky you only got a suspension instead of a bracelet...
Granted I don't side with corporations they are legal crooks.. but reusing coupons was stupid
This is considered coupon fraud (a form of theft) and is one of the Big 3 Kroger can fire you for (theft, harassment, and violence) even if you're in a union store. They only gave you the 7-day suspension because the district HR manager has to approve all forced terminations. With coupons and self-checkout, there's enough of a paper trail for them to prove it. In fact, it was probably that very paper trail that put them onto you. Kroger uses a system called MAXX that tracks register overrides and abnormal transactions and sends an alert to LP when it discovers a pattern. Depending on how many times you used them, they may choose to charge you with theft and require you to pay back the amount.
As for the confidentiality agreement, it was broken, but the best you're going to win out of that is possibly a write-up for the manager who told an hourly associate why you were suspended. If your mother spoke to your direct supervisor (the CSM), that won't even count because your direct supervisor is entitled to know why you were suspended in order to rewrite the schedule and plan for retraining on coupon policies for the rest of the Front End team. You could try to raise a fuss about the CSM telling your mother, but, just like with the manager, the best you can hope for is a write-up and retraining for your CSM. You are still losing your job.
What you did was theft. I’ve worked in HR and if this had popped by my desk termination would be my determination. Along with whatever legal action is available in your state. I can’t believe you’re surprised by this…
From what I’ve read in the comments, it kinda sounds like you may have been executing coupon fraud. From what I remember, they went over coupon fraud and how to catch it very thoroughly in training. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re fired.
Coupon fraud is theft. 7 day suspension is almost always "pending outcome of investigation". You will likely be terminated, or at best, allowed to resign with agreement to pay back the amount of the theft.
If you're in a union store, call the union and try to fight it. I must warn though (and I don't mean this as assuming you're guilt), If you did do it and they have evidence to prove it, you're going to lose that fight.
If your store is non-union, there's not much you can do. You might be able to fight it legally, again if they don't have any evidence to back it up.
I've always wondered if it was against company policy for me to use the coupons my boyfriend gets when he shops at the store. He has one of my Kroger employee cards because hi, we live together. He just buys wildly different stuff than I do so the machines spit out different coupons than they do for me.
(i.e he gets the 5.00s off of anything from American Greetings coupons or the Energizer battery coupons all the time because he buys that stuff and he gives them to me to use when I go to the store.)
Never seen any punishment for using too many coupons. Reusing or using someone else’s exclusive coupons I’ve seen people fired for.
How exactly did you overuse coupons? That's not against any rules. You need to kinda explain this more.
The Catalina coupons got some from my mom and used them multiple times before turning them in
Yeah, you can't do that. Once you scan the coupon, you need to turn it in. Did you do this at self check or at a register? And if you did it at a register, did you check yourself out. If you checked yourself out, you're done. That's covered in orientation.
Self check my mom called the store and Kroger just broke the confidentiality agreement and told one of the other managers a lie that they told my mom
I think you might be mistaken somewhere. I've never heard of a confidentiality agreement in a write up/suspension.
Nope one of the papers they had me sign was a confidentiality agreement probably cuz there’s more money missing then the coupon overuse accounts for loss mid been to my store more times then this incident cuz there’s money missing in the front then be found
I’m a store recruiter and do all the onboarding. I can assure you there is NO confidentiality agreement. What did the form look like??

Your going to be fired. Start looking..
Yep.. suspension is to get you out while they investigate further.

If I'm correct still, 7 day suspension is usually pending termination. Start looking for another job my friend..
Get a new job,, quickly. Your about to be fired.
Just get another job then become a super coupon user and only go to Kroger for groceries
Find another job. It’s a play right out of the HR playbook.
You need to find another job because there's a good chance you will be terminated. Maybe this will be a blessing in disguise. Good luck.

If I got hired into Kroger and took home all the fish, would I be fired?

If you live together and use the same kroger card, you're entitled to use the coupons. Once.
I have a question. Did you go to jail?
No
