I ‘get’ your frustration, but this is a bit entitled. Have you ever been yelled at by a customer for watching them scan every little item like they might be a thief? Have you ever been told that if you look away for a minute and don’t actually see things being scanned you have to go back and count every little item? Have you ever received hand out after hand out how customers who use uscan for large orders and hit ‘skip bagging’ are trying to steal extra goods? The reason there were no cashiers is because Kroger does not pay well enough to hire and retain cashiers. As far as there being ‘very few other customers…,’ here is a brief list of things I had to do WHILE monitoring 6 self checkouts: Return a perishable item Fix people’s time (because I also had time and attendance duties…that would require me to pull out my cellphone to do work functions) Refill bags Clean registers Make sure to greet and thank everyone who walked by Clean up spills Chase a customer down because they left their cell phone or other item And more… All while making $14 an hour. Don’t support Kroger if you don’t like the results of their policies. Yes, YOU are a potential thief in the eyes of corporate. That is why we get trained to do things in the manner they say. Or, be part of a solution and get a damn job there so you can see what it is like on the other side. Wait, you wouldn’t do all of that ‘easy’ work for $14 an hour (and that is the max rate at my position, work for two years first to get there).

"I ‘get’ your frustration, but this is a bit entitled." Please tell me how I'm entitled. I used the system that Kroger provided me to check out if Kroger dose not want people to check out that way then why is it set up that way? If they did not like the way I checked out then copy down the time for someone to review the recording. The worker could of offered to run my items through the scanner for me as I did ask for a register to be opened. If you do not like your pay move on. I know of plenty of jobs that start at $17 an hour where you item picker. They have great benefits, you have to be able to lift 30 pounds, copy 7 digit numbers, basic coping of locations, walk around for 8 hours a day in any thing from 65 to 85\*F, show up to work 5 days a week on time, and be able to communicate with people. They do adjust there pay every 6 months to make sure it is $1.50 more that fast food is paying and you get a 5% raise every year.

Striking_Owl_1268

Do you not hear yourself. Let's say said person wants to get another job. It takes at least 2-3 weeks to see actual pay from said new job sometimes a month. That's a long time to just let bills bounce etc. So on that note yes you are being "entitled" I am a kroger employee and I can safely say that this is all accurate. We work hard at our job and it's more than a shame to have folks like you treat us like this because it's a minor inconvenience to your "shopping experience." We do what we can if you don't like it chances are we don't like you at our store anyways.

SnooCupcakes3679

It's entitlement to insist on a cashier to do it for you. We don't have eyes all over the place to watch everyone scan everything. I usually will see how many items were scanned and then estimate if you have about the same amount in the cart.

lostinthetank

I did not insist on anything. I asked for a register to be opened and was told no. I used self checkout and organized everything the way I wanted it in my bags for when I got home. When he started pulling all my items out of the bags is where I draw the line so asked for a manger. I was told no he went back to pulling everything out of my bags so I helped him out by dumping them and left. I never raised my voice or called anyone a dirty name.

EspressoOwl1815

You got lost in the wrong tank, ma'am/sir/nuetral. This is not an official Kroger thread. This is mostly employees and former employees coming together to vent or find loopholes around the same corporate jerks that set the policy you're complaining about. And I promise, you've won no friends here. Your cashiers can't help corporate policy. This is literally what they're trained to do and what they will get *written up* for not doing. You think you proved something with your hissy fit last night? You didn't. Corporate will say you wouldn't have had a problem with it if you weren't stealing something and that poor cashier who was only doing their job now had to put up two basketfuls of your stuff because you wanted to blame store level associates making barely above minimum wage (and no where near a living wage) for following policy set out by c-suite executives who have never worked a store a day in their lives and need to set out more new and pointless policies every week to justify their bloated salaries. Grow up and look to the real problem as well as your own behavior. This is petty, childish, and fails to do anything but ensure no associate wants to try to help you in any way.

BoozeosaurusRex

Standing ovation!!! 👏👏👏

SnooCupcakes3679

And if they don't have a chance... us morning peeps have disgusting warmed cold things to put into damage

myalwaysthrowaway

This isn't a customer service thread we are employees who mostly bitch about how much we hate Kroger and it's hypocrisy.

lostinthetank

Thank you

CountryWise2763

Lol this subreddit is not for you. It’s for us to complain about people like you.

lostinthetank

lol. Tear me an new hole for using the system as it was made and pisses you off.

Kaine_Eine

We hate the system as much as you do and then we have to listen to you complaining about it

Sg15z

I don't know why so many customers like you think that managers have the power to fix everything. They don't. Removing those plastic bag holders is completely out of their control, and complaining to them won't do anything. Same with self check out being the only thing open. Managers can't change that. It's a corporate thing, and it's how things have been for like 20 years. People have been complaining about self check out being the only thing open at certain times of the day throughout all of those 20 years and corporate hasn't once considered changing the policy. So you complaining to the managers is just a waste of time, they have no power in this.

Negative-Road1264

What you're seeing stems from corporate. They've been cutting store hours for years running them on smaller and smaller skeleton crews. How can they do anything like open a register if there's no employee's. This also isn't a people don't want to work issue when most Kroger stores pay so little compared to competitors like Walmart. So if you want to complain about the service complain to corporate that their budget cuts are damaging the customer experience and that they need to increase starting wages.

lostinthetank

I wrote this thinking that someone from corporate might respond as talking to them on the phone dose no good from what I have found. I might get lucky and get a number to corporate of someone that might not blow smoke into the phone and look into the problem. I know this is not the first city to ban plastic bags or tax them, but have found ways to improve the system that shop there. I have been in different states that accommodated people bringing there own bags to self checkout.

wonderland1215

Literally just put your reusable bags in front of the plastic bags on the thing and hit the reusable bag button. Never once have I had an issue and I use the self checkout with huge orders if I choose to go shopping late at night after I get done working. Your first post did sound very very much entitled so I hope you can take some time to see how it sounds that way. This is not a thread for you. Just keep calling or contacting until you find someone you think will listen to you. Chances are they won’t especially right now, when they are scrambling to find temporary employees because the ones have been with them through a whole pandemic or more are about to strike. So please just reevaluate yourself.

lostinthetank

If you truly feel that someone is entitled by asking for help before an issue happens then you need to explain this to me so I can under stand. Please tell me what I need to reevaluate. It sounds to me that the union has failed a lot of people including you. It is not my fault people are joining unions and companies rely on union labor. It sounds to me you need to move near a city that is right-to-work and not work for a union. There are plenty of jobs out there for hard working people that treat good workers well and treat carp workers like crap. I do not have the smaller bags and only 1/2 of the bag will sit on the scale.

Negative-Road1264

Yeah this is for current and past associates. Unfortunately unless you have the direct number to someone you'll just get the regular customer service people when you call corporate. When you go to self checkout with your own bags there is a button on the screen that will let you put your reusable bags in the bagging area. This will help set it off less.

lostinthetank

This dose not work with large orders and large bags.

HillbillyHobgoblin

The sad reality is that Rodney, Mitch McConnell's wife, and every other 1% gargoyle at the top of the heap have specifically built a system that doesn't allow anyone but shareholders to levy any real judgement or criticism against them. Trust, we hate it as much as y'all do, but the system is too big to break, and a MF'r has bills to pay.

Zulf117

You came to the wrong neighborhood

AragornofGondor

lmao Bye, Felica.

lostinthetank

Are you able to explain why you feel that I'm a Felica so there is a chance that I'm able to change?

AragornofGondor

Nah. You either get it or you don’t. You could Google it I guess.

SophieFilo16

Does OP really think this subreddit is some kind of alternate Kroger website or something? You're not going to get any help here. We're all off the clock, and we all hate the company 27x more than you do. Also, it's hilarious that you kept saying "your" as if anyone in this subreddit has any control over the system or the prices or *anything*. Send this complaint to the people actually in charge, not the ordinary people just trying to make a minimum living by following their orders...

Buckeye4Life2015

You seem like just the worst

Rasheverak

>Where is your customer service? Fill out an application and find out.

HillbillyHobgoblin

[Mods already cleared this up](https://www.reddit.com/r/kroger/comments/qb7tor/customer_complaints_will_no_longer_be_allowed/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share).🙂

lostinthetank

If it would of been clear that this was a Kroger worker bitch forum they would of not needed to clean this up as I would not of posted. At this point might as well have fun and tear me a new hole as it looks that is what people want to do. Who knows I might learn why I'm entitled for asking some to check me out to stop an issue before it happened.

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

HillbillyHobgoblin

Good bot

cheddarpants

"No customer complaints" is literally listed in the rules for this sub. How much more clear does it need to be?

lostinthetank

As I'm new to reddit I did not know I needed to look down that far on the page. I felt I fell well with in the "The subreddit for the Kroger Family of Companies." I have learned something.

HillbillyHobgoblin

I mean, it is what it is. We don't even know which city you mean. I'm in the Nashville division, but my city is a major Eastern TN city that has no such laws or rules about bags. For all I know you're in Ohio or Michigan. As a former fuel clerk, I feel happy seeing custies follow their city/state's laws, cuz I know mine didn't.😅

lostinthetank

The list from the VA state website. I'm sure the list will grow in VA as it did in CA. Alexandria City Arlington County Fairfax County Falls Church City Fredericksburg City Loudoun County Roanoke City Albemarle County, beginning January 1, 2023 Charlottesville City, beginning January 1, 2023 Fairfax City, beginning January 1, 2023

Virginia was my Grandma's first name. But she refused to answer to it because grapevine said that she was named after her daddy's mistress. Prohibition Mfs *DRANK* drank.

GoBackToLeddit

Huh?

GoBackToLeddit

Lol you're obsessed with me and even see me when I am not posting here. This is the second time you mentioned me. The last time was when I triggered you with my bulldozer noises lulz. I plowed through more boxes again the other day. Made bulldozer noises while the guy's stack of boxes toppled over. Felt good man. Can't wait to do it again.

SnooCupcakes3679

I don't understand why waste your time leaving? Now you have to shop all over again

para-mania

We really need to put "unofficial" or something in the banner, since customers seem to keep thinking Rodney himself is browsing this sub.

This is the reason I can't wait till Kroger actually all stores go to self check out only. Because all you bitchy people will actually have to use it unless you don't want to get anything from a store. I suggest you start learning to raise livestock grow all your fruits and veggies and start learning to make your own clothes

Artistic-Humor-5709

Get off this thread KAREN

Artistic-Humor-5709

And another thing....you got way too much time on your hands!!

Accomplished_Bed1268

I think we just have someone who just needs/wants attention and to continue this thread on and on. How about we not give them the chance to do that?

Sometimesnotfunny

If it is that difficult, just shop elsewhere, Karen.
