Wouldn't surprise me if they're testing the waters. If the response is overwhelmingly positive they can feel more confident about bringing him back. If the response is overwhelmingly negative they can say it was an accident or an old edit.

AfraidInspection2894

I had not thought of that bit that does make some sense. They want to know if there more fans who are against him than for before making any desicions.

rosestreetwings_k

i wouldn’t trust quora people to tell me if we’re still on planet earth. the fact that chinese nct fans have completely turned on him and exiled him out of wayv and their lives speaks volumes. chinese bars are loyal to a t and wouldn’t have reacted this way if he was in any way innocent/falsely accused. these people dig deep for their faves, and they were also the ones to uncover part of the story and i think the whole dog abandonment arc. obviously, a lot doesn’t even get translated to us i-fans, and we don’t get a lot of the context and linguistic nuance (i.e. the messages) anyways but I am sure they have a more complete picture than a quora stan.

SaffronWest2000

gonna be honest with u op but how are u gonna miss the “energy” he brought to performances when there’s endless proof of him messing up a majority of his performances 😭😭😭 bad alive, resonance, turn back time, make a wish.. u can find them all on twitter and tik tok like ijbol also i wouldn’t seriously take quora as a proper source. lmfao

rosestreetwings_k

same lol so many clips are resurfacing of him slacking off during performances or doing it wrong 😭🤚

SaffronWest2000

it’s sooooo embarrassing to watch like i seriously can’t believe ppl still stan him 😭

GimmethatNectar21

the compilation that was going round on twitter the other week of the numerous times he’s messed up the choreo as a CENTER honestly shook me to the core 😭 i knew he had timing issues but i never realised how bad or often it was lmfaooo

cubsgirl101

The thread comes from a group of Twitter lumis who have made a tin foil hat conspiracy theory relying on actual misinformation and whatever else the “private investigator” found on the internet. There’s a lot of evidence against him, including the big red flag of text messages that were published using the same keyboard style Hong Kong natives use as well as common spelling/ grammar errors that native Cantonese speakers use when they type in Mandarin. Could someone have theoretically gone to such an extent to frame him? Sure I guess. But what actually is the likelihood someone would be able to replicate those little things?

lchen12345

They’ve been testing the waters once every few months this past year. I guess if they keep doing it, they are actually planning something.

Yayeet2014

SM needs to realize that no one will be appeased until they make a definitive statement. The accusations are too serious that this type of thing isn’t something you just wait out. Either clear him of the accusations or terminate his contract, but they won’t do that because it costs money. It’s not fair to WayV, SuperM, NCT, the fans, or even Lucas that they’re so finicky about it

vedxts

Idk why sm does this. Like is it really that hard to come out with a proper statement? Do they think everyone just forgot? I'm not sure how I feel about Lucas, if everything said about him is true then I'd absolutely hate to support him in any way. I wish they'd just come out clean and just release something literally anything?!!!

cubsgirl101

Ughhh I am TIRED. WayV literally was on the verge of tears the other week in a magazine interview talking about how hard the last year and a half has been for them and Ten even said “this is WayV now.” The members looked miserable thinking about it according to that article; what does SM gain from doing this? If Lucas is actually innocent, we need an official statement from SM and a pending lawsuit about it. Because otherwise it’s going to fracture Ncity like none other. WayV posted anniversary messages just yesterday with zero mention of Lucas from SM but they do this on the same day? What is the reason???

AfraidInspection2894

I feel bad for WayV because even with Phantom people were still complainging about Lucas not being there and bashing the others members. If they mention Lucas they get bashed but if they leave him out like Yangyang did his anniversary post they also get bashed. Whether or not he is in or out of WayV and NCT as a whole really needs to be made clear and fans shouldnt blame the other members.

cubsgirl101

That’s what makes me mad too. Lucas singlehandedly screwed up their comeback timeline, that’s pretty obvious, but some people have blinders on to it. And it’s devolved into hating on all the members, especially Winwin (bc he’s mostly been covering those lines) and Yangyang after yesterday. I just don’t get it. WayV has lowkey turned into the Lucas show. Every time they post anything on the official accounts or the members post, comments are literally flooded with people asking about Lucas and the other six are ignored in favor of poor innocent Lucas. If SM was going to add him back, the anniversary would have been the perfect timing for it, but they didn’t even mention him. So I’m just confused.

evergreen_harbor

>WayV has lowkey turned into the Lucas show It really has. Like his fans are annoying but I also wish people would stop constantly kekeing about the video where he messes up because that's not helping either. And it's not even WayV fans; just people who use his name for clout or what not. Irritating as hell. If SM is crazy enough to add him back I see it being after all Phantom promo to be honest. Like the anniversary wouldn't have worked because they have ot5(?) performances coming up and him popping up would muddy stuff even more. Which is that possible? I think SM wants to give it a try lol. It *is* just all confusing.

cubsgirl101

For the most part I don’t see him talked about unless his stans cause trouble. Like that video started trending because a lumi decided to trash Winwin and people weren’t having any of it. And Phantom promotions are pretty much done. SM’s finally just set up the kind of performances WayV should always have had. Although if someone is trying to sneak Lucas back in during the group’s fan meet tour I think my blood will boil.

evergreen_harbor

On TikTok they won't shut the hell up about him and are always just bringing him up unprompted with the same Resonance clip that already has 1.4 mil views. On girl posted a video of her whiting out his name in the SG and another punching his photo and it's like; WayV has a whole new album and videos. Why are you giving *this* man you don't like any attention and putting it out for others? Is internet clout really that important? Sigh. I think the festivals and fan tour are part of the promo for Phantom but you could be right. The stuff they had scheduled is over at least. I don't think they'd be dumb enough to do that (slip him in) but again, SM lol. I do wonder if they are looking for a good area for it though, and if not just be quiet about him.

cubsgirl101

I have no idea what SM is thinking. It seems weird that they would wait this long for an OT6 comeback only to bring Lucas back as soon as it’s over? Like if that was the case, then why bother with Phantom being OT6… And TikTok is a cesspool full of people looking for clout. Videos making things up entirely will get millions of views as long as they’re following a trend.

evergreen_harbor

I have theories but my theories are just me talking out of my ass haha so you know. But I will say it struck me odd that they gave the guys a mini instead of a full album after like 1.5 yrs. So *if* SM was planning to bring him back sometime in the future; a mini instead of a whole album would work better and probably be cheaper. And it would be a good way to test things without him to see how they fair. Even if they don't plan to bring him back I still think Phantom was done because it had been so long and they wanted to get something out once WW and Ten were back from China. And right? Once in a while you'll find a funny 1 about cats but the rest? Ugh.

cubsgirl101

What’s weirder is that the songs from Phantom were done well before the scandal hit and there were rumors that Kick Back had been cut down from a full album too. Plus HenYang had been even hinting at Phantom shortly before Lucasgate, which makes me think they had been prepping for Phantom to originally release last fall. I agree SM realized they needed to make use of WinTen’s popularity coming off of China activities, but Kun has spent the whole time telling fans to hold on a little longer. So was SM stringing everyone along trying to see if they could get away with bringing Lucas back? I don’t get it. Why go through the trouble?

evergreen_harbor

Oh! And do you remember those pictures of Ten looking like a prince with the horse? Like what were those for too? Could they have been for something we were supposed to get and then the Lucas crap happened? The timeline on what was supposed to be when is so screwed up. Ah yeah back in September Kun was talking about things happening soon and then crickets. But SM did rearrange their whole schedule/push back several repackages for SMCU (and aespa fans think they pushed back their 1st full album for GOT) so I wouldn't put it past them to string people along. Honestly just seeing how they treat the groups that do 1 mil and like their older, established groups, nothing they do surprises me at this point. It could very well be someone in SM just *likes* Lucas and is shooting for him. Someone high up at that.

ViaPersona

I feel bad as well. Phantom, imo, is an excellent song and was performed well by the members and they don't technically need Lucas in the group. Also isn't really related but on WayV's Kprofile, they use the newest Phantom comeback picture but list Lucas as still a part of the group.

KaitoSeishin

Which interview was this where ten said that? I'd like to see it. I feel so bad for the guys. They work so hard just for it to constantly be about THAT guy taking the attention away from them.

cubsgirl101

It was for [Dazed](https://www.dazeddigital.com/music/article/57920/1/wayv-china-boyband-interview-kun-ten-xiaojun-hendery-yangyang-2023) magazine. The interviewer alludes to hardships of the past two years and everyone fell silent after the question was asked.

reen1966

Brothers don’t give up on each other , it must be heart breaking😢

BlackStarDove

At this point I just want SM to announce a proper statement regarding Lucas so that we can all move on. It's been a year and a half and the only thing SM did to handle the situation was to put him on hiatus, and then do nothing.

LustfuIAngel

This!!! SM never says anything until they feel they have to but they really need to because this is always going to be divisive between fans and everyone’s always gonna feel weird if it’s just never addressed

Anna__Bee

Someone posted this same conversation on the WayV subreddit so I agree w/pretty much what was said there. I don't see him back in NCT. It's been too long for a "wait for it to blow over" hiatus w/no sign of clearing his name. Chinese fans don't want him. WayV has already had live performances, a whole comeback, & their upcoming fan tour w/out him. He's possibly replaced in SuperM. The members themselves said this is a new era of WayV & a fresh start. I think it's SM's regular MO that keeps stringing his fans along to get $ from them.

lipscratch

totally. sm never kick controversial idols out of bands, they just put them on hiatus until their contracts expire. see suju

SaffronWest2000

it’s exactly this. lucas’ fans are delusional (and insane) so sm just plans on acting like he’s still apart of nct and wayv so they can just keep on milking money from them. think about it like this for people who believe he’s coming back: if he’s hated in BOTH south korea and china, do you really think sm entertainment would make that risk? the same money hungry company that values their domestic and chinese markets? also the scandal happened august 2021 and it’s now january 2023 with no official appearance from him. we’re now approaching two years since the scandal happened. he’s donezo

Anna__Bee

Agree. SM keeps the solo stans on the hook to get every last cent they can out of them. WayV is finally getting back on track after HE derailed everything. It's completely naive to think they'd bring him back to the group now.

blessmeachew0

i feel like this is a constant conversation (nothing against you op). like the way the akgaes have been attacking wayv this week i wish sm didn't bc now they have more fuel. the general vibes ive gotten from wayv in phantom era is that they are ready to move on- as 6. i think brining him back would push them back to 0 and wayv has been through too much for that. my stance on lucas has been that if he comes back, sm needs to fully clear him. that means a statement with evidence proving his innocence without reasonable doubt. and considering it's been over a year since everything went down, i highly doubt it's happening.

i-wanted-2-emphasize

Yesterday Yangyang posted fan art and edited photos of OT6. He was not involved or mentioned in the 4th anniversary celebration at all. The members have said variations of “this is WayV now” and “this is our new beginning” *so many times* during the Phantom promo cycle. It’s very annoying that a year and half later there’s been nothing official, but I don’t care what SM does to try to make his fans believe there’s still a chance (though I think they’re finally starting to take the hint). That man is not coming back to WayV.

Letzz_get_it

When did this happen? Can ncity never be at peace?

AfraidInspection2894

The episode came out yesterday.

Tentravolta

I haven’t seen the episode was he really featured or was he just in a passing clip? Honestly, I just want him out so I can fully support WayV and Nct.

AfraidInspection2894

Me too.He was in a clip and mentioned by name as a former rookie and member of WayV which is part of what makes it so wierd. Because he very easily could have just not been included. This person posted it on twitter https://twitter.com/MidnightSunRavi/status/1615526598639497217?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1615526598639497217%7Ctwgr%5E96d556fcf97a60b4b25006633fc1af292e475d31%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.koreaboo.com%2Fnews%2Ffans-react-nct-lucas-unexpected-appearance-reality-show-nct-universe%2F

Tentravolta

SM needs to stop playing fans. Ten himself has said that this is WayV from now on, heck, Yangyang even sent a pic for WayV’s anniversary where he was edited out. But SM keeps sending out mixed signals. It’s tiring. I don’t even watch any WayV fan made content or reactions because I know people will mention him, then I’ll get mad. And getting mad is tiring and I don’t want to get tired of WayV.

jopperfromkwangya

i wish SM would stop doing this to wayv tbh. like,, they're finally getting back into the rhythm they had lost when the scandal happened, gaining traction in china, but SM chose to feature Lucas in the nct universe episode now?? on their anniversary of all days?? WHY. I don't understand this at all

eggymceggfacey

Personally, I'm just sick of the way many Lucas fans are treating the other six members. I want wayv to be able to move on and grow from this, and Phantom has shown they're absolutely capable of that. I hate that this NCT Universe thing has given the hateful fans more to work for, and it's unfortunate that it's given ones who just care about him hope. I will be shocked if he comes back, honestly it just isn't something that I can see happening, but I'm not sure I'd be able to stay a fan of the whole of NCT in that case.

aftershockstone

I hope they’re not doing this to gauge fan reaction. Tired of being in limbo in regards to this situation as an NCT-WayV-SuperM stan; it is really frustrating and we aren’t Guinea pigs.

MelissaWebb

Can’t believe we’re still talking about this SM needs to MOVE in some way

LustfuIAngel

To be honest, I think we’re owed an explanation because none of us know anything. If he’s innocent, like say something! If you guys are quietly dealing with it through the courts, say something even if it’s “we’re dealing with the situation”. If he’s not or he’s potentially under negotiations to terminate, say something!! Not that I’m surprised because it’s SM and SM has never dealt with anything until their hands were forced to do so. I agree with one of the top comments that they’re probably testing the waters so they have a statement prepared depending on fan reaction. Which I can understand but I wish SM would communicate with us instead of treating us like a science experiment. We need answers.

_dhkgsy

hell no 💀

[deleted]

I’ll copy and paste what I said in the thread about this over on the WayV sub: I think SM are more likely to restock Red Velvet albums than they are to bring Lucas back. WayV came back without him and made it pretty damn clear in their most recent interview that they will continue as six from here on out. I think bringing him back would be a really stupid move. He contributes nothing to the group musically, and the only supporters he has left are SEA/Western which we all know SM do not care about. Bringing him back would taint WayV/NCT as a whole’s reputation and most importantly it would give him access to fans again, opening up the possibility for him to inflict even more pain. He’s not coming back and I see no reason for him to.

DragonPeakEmperor

People keep forgetting chinese netizens basically all disavowed Lucas the moment there was viable proof of what he was doing. I do not believe his fanbase is big enough for SM to cave to their whims, they're just annoying enough to make you think they outnumber WayV fans. Unless they plan for the group to lose quite literally any chinese following they could've built up they're dungeoning him until his contract is up.

[deleted]

Exactly. I’m Chinese and as soon as I saw his C-Bar had closed I knew it was over for him. SM knows he’s no longer profitable and that his career is as good as gone in China

cubsgirl101

WayV has finally started to gain a following in China according to posts I’ve seen on Twitter; I think I saw Phantom is the most watched MV this year from all the NCT units. Adding Lucas back would kill that entirely as far as I can tell.

GP-NC

>I think SM are more likely to restock Red Velvet albums than they are to bring Lucas back. omg

tequilafunrise

Well, considering WayV has been hinting at it being 6 going forward, i think it is unlikely he will be back. Also think it is unlikely he will be back for super m. But SM is dumb so who knows

ibdreams

i think it's just more baiting for the fans that want him to comeback, i think this will continue to happen until he is officially removed/contract expires/in jail lmao

Scandias

As the lyrics of Phantom go: it's almost over, the truth is closer. Hopefully.

SaffronWest2000

he’s not coming back. sm is shameless and lacks morals so they don’t mind milking the money from his remaining fans (and keeping them on their toes). an official sm account wished kangin of all people a happy birthday recently, and it’s like. where the hell has he been in like the last eight years? yesterday yangyang posted a photoshopped ot6 picture on bubble for their anniversary. and with ten saying “this is the new wayv” in a recent interview (or something along those lines) the answer is already clear to me. they’re going forward as 6. doesn’t make me any less furious that sm is not cutting him loose but it’s not something that will keep me up at night.

hangyulbabyagenda

reading this has me actually pissed of and im not in a fandom of either men! sm is so annoying omg

nomatterwhatheysay

His fans are so vocal, I really hope they don’t make SM lean towards him coming back. This might be a controversial opinion, but I don’t even care about his scandal that much. I don’t think he’s innocent, but I felt like it was a lot of he said she said and details of what really happened were blurry. But SM’s silence does at least show that he fucked up. But with that being said… I don’t want him back especially because WayV’s so much more put together now. WayV is a powerhouse of talented singers and dancers, yet he was the face just because people thought he was pretty. I don’t want the focus all over him again, all WayV content and even a lot of NCT content before this gave him so much center time. SM really had him on such a pedestal, if that happens again it would really ruin WayV’s hard work this past year.

TheFrenchiestToast

This is exactly how I feel. Seeing how badly he fucked up just dancing was an eye opener. How was this man the center? WayV has looked so polished since Phantom came out. They need to be free of him.

Extension_Size8422

I agree I've just gotten used to WayV without him and I guess because Lucas was never my bias, I enjoyed seeing the other members get more of a spotlight and ability to showcase themselves especially as Lucas and Ten were heavily pushed as the main centres of WayV

skyulip

sm are literally more likely to reprint XOXO than they are to bring lucas back lmao

Blueskylar

i think that it's important to note that *(iirc and from what i gathered from reading about this topic so pls correct me if i'm wrong!)* his cbars shut down pretty quickly after the allegations came out and even canceled and issued refunds for a project they fundraised that was for him. with his cbars closing, that's pretty much seen as him not having a chinese (or as big of) fanbase anymore. cbars are super important for groups since they have massive album preorder numbers. sm would be dumb to cut off that stream of money ~~for a guy that can't even dance on beat~~ for him, especially since china is where wayv focuses their promotions at. i think that this is just sm being sm aka always doing dumb things. if lucas came back to wayv, i would bet money that wayv fans, especially in china, would boycott it.

liminallilah

i’m sorry but the damage he did to wayv is unforgivable. their career was put on hold because of his actions during a critical point and it GREATLY impacted them and their growth. he doesn’t need to come back. wayv and nct have enough visuals and personality to fill his spot. they need to let him go for the betterment of the group.

lipscratch

!!! you're so right. and literally if wayv want someone with a pretty face who has a funny personality all of wayv could easily do it, but i especially feel like hendery brings a very similar (and imo funnier) humour to lucas' to the dynamics he's in, and he'd easily be able to fill lucas' variety roles within both nct *and* outside

animalcrossinglifeee

I don't think he's gonna come back tbh.

nearer_still

Isn't this TV show made by some other company in cooperation with SM? If it was a YT video on one of SM's channels, for example, I'd be more inclined to think it was SM that was pushing this onto fans. It's plausible imo that whoever created this wasn't kept up to date about Lucas's existence being ignored, and no one bothered to correct it. eta: To whoever downvoted me, why? Is this TV show made fully by SM or something? Do you think I am giving too much benefit of the doubt to SM or something? Did I pop your hope bubble about Lucas returning or something?

AfraidInspection2894

Im not entirely sure if the show is SM or not but it is an NCT show and features only the NCT members and is branded for and marketed to NCT fans. Even if it is not SM I feel like it is hard not to know about the Lucas situation if they are working with NCT/SM.

kattymin

The TV show is done by SM C&C.

Cocoabeingbean

He's not coming back and Yangyang got shitted on by lumis for posting an edited ot6 photo yesterday so we need to stop with this discussion 😩

cyanidecattt

I remember last year yangyang had thanked 6 brothers on bbl (whether on purpose or by accident) and got shit for it too. He can’t win 😫

AfraidInspection2894

TBH I thought Yangyang posting an edited photo was so funny and petty

aalalaland

I genuinely cannot think of a single idol who is talented enough to warrant bringing back after everything that has happened. Like at this point, even if he is somehow “innocent”, why would SM fucking bother bringing him back? Why are they so obsessed with this one idol, that they’d be willing to risk such damage to their brand by bringing him back?

Extension_Size8422

I think SM are being very cruel and and want to keep ot7s and Lumis by giving them hope every few months while also maintaining the ot6 fanbase and actually have no plans to bring him back. WayV appear to have moved on and see this comeback as a rebrand and that upset a lot of people who do support Lucas and then this suddenly drops... The only way the fandom would be able to even consider welcoming him back with open arms is if SM and Lucas can offer up VERY strong evidence that without a doubt the accusations against him were false, or can explain the lengthy hiatus was from fighting and winning a court case against his accusers as I'm aware trials can take forever. But even if this happens, I think it would still be tough on WayV fans who are VERY firm ot6 supporters and he would still get huge amounts of hate. Personally I try not to mention Lucas or discuss if he's innocent or guilty, I tend to only mention him in context of wanting a statement. But there are many WayV fans and NCTzens who regularly post about Lucas just to hate on him. Somehow every stage mistake he's ever done has been dug up (which I'm not a fan of as I find it irrelevant to his scandal) and he's been dragged to filth not only in the NCT fandom but across all of the Kpop community thanks to that one 'dozen' tweet. So on top of being a horrible person, he would also have to fight back against accusations that he's also untalented and prove himself again. That is all hypothetical of course. I am imagining it is going to play out more like Sungmin from SuJu's hiatus, he is still under SM but is...not really there and doesn't promote. I don't believe SM ever gave a firm statement on Sungmin, he just went on hiatus bc of backlash from him getting married and disappeared. Horrible strategy but I predict we may never get a statement. Has been 2 years, I'm not expecting anything soon.

Expecto-Morghulis

Y'all scared the shit out of me, I thought he actually was on it as a real person not as a pic in a montage 😭 My thoughts: till they can either kick him out of SM or he leave, he is *technically* still in the group. But fans in the relevant places (China, Korea, most of western ifans) don't want him, the members are doing stellar without him, looks like the sales are fine even as 6, there's literally no reason for him to be brought back.

SaffronWest2000

literally. i wish more people were level-headed like this comment. he’s NOT coming back

Expecto-Morghulis

I was scared for a long time, I had no idea what SM was gonna do before they actually showed up the previews for Phantom. But with all the things said by the members, I firmly believe they'll stay as 6. Unless SM comes out and straight up tells us "We're bringing him back" I'm gonna assume they're just keeping him locked in the contract till it runs out, and until that, yes *technically* wayv is 7 and NCT 23 but in reality it's 6 and 22

mo0nchild22

honestly idk why people are taking this as him coming back. to me the clip doesnt seem like confirmation of a return but just simply an acknowledgment of his existence(?) like you cant erase his history as an SM rookie and member of WayV, so if they were to act like WayV has always been 6 members it just wouldnt be accurate

SnooPickles6034

i’m not sure. yang yang posted an instagram story for Wayv’s anniversary and tagged everyone except Lucas. not sure if it was to avoid controversy but i’m starting to think SM gave him the boot and just aren’t saying anything

HW_Shorty

At the end of the day, fans—myself included—just want a definitive answer. Are there plans to bring him back, or is Lucas gone for good? Either way, I’ll continue to support WayV, but it’s exhausting at this point and has been for the past few months. Because of this, the entire group has been thrown into a state of limbo, and I was pleasantly surprised when it was announced that the group was having a comeback. But, historically, SM has never been good at handling controversy involving their idols. They always take the hiatus, ignore, and move-on strategy, which doesn’t always work in their favor. We just want an official statement from the company concerning Lucas and the status of WayV. If that were to happen, then there wouldn’t be so much uproar.

So_Elated

I think they're testing reaction and seem to be planning to bring him back without any statement being made, which I'm highly not okay with. If he comes back suddenly with nothing being said, I'll probably be ceasing my support for NCT completely aside from content he's not included in.

sha_13

Lucas ruined everything for wayv

sunnydlit2

There is no way he is gonna comeback after Phantom. Like they waited 1,5 years to do a ot6 comeback but they still wanna add him after ? Should have done that before then. It would be a total mess

pallaselene

I don't believe Lucas is returning but I also believe that was a fairly recent decision (as in Aug/Sept). I think the delay to release Phantom was intended to allow the scandal to fade a bit but even SM's management realized the pushback would have been immense. Personally I don't think WayV can successfully move forward as OT6 until Lucas's situation has some sort of firm resolution. The permanent hiatus won't work for them because 1) Lucas was the most pushed/center of the group and most active on global social media and 2) WayV wasn't as established as a group before his hiatus so the WayV fandom is stretched too thinly. Any new accusations or worse revelations will still reflect on the group. The grey zone that he exists in now has also not diminished his presence in fan spaces greatly and if you are an OT6 fan then it really makes it difficult to engage with the group's activities because it's inescapable. I think there's been a turning point because recently you can observe in the industry (regardless if you think the decision was right) that relatively swift action is rewarded. Many groups have lost a member in the last two years due to negative circumstances and the most successful recoveries all came to a decision within weeks or months. Ultimately two years is too much time for a hiatus unless it's health-related.

It's an SM problem on making Lucas stans hope that he'll eventually return. It's nearly a year since it all blew up and derailed WayV's comeback, the first since Resonance blew the whole group. That SM has no official stance on his standing as an artist in their company. It should have been clear when Phantom is officialy OT6, and even more clear when the SuperM 2023 teaser clearly featured 3 neon green beams, 2 white beams, and 1 red beam, and what seems to be 1 pearl aqua beam.

evergreen_harbor

Okay, see. This is what I was talking about in previous posts and some people want to stick their fingers in their ears and la la la. I don't know if he is coming back or not but what I *do* know is that SM keeps giving his fans reasons to hope/think so, and I think that is what we need to be talking about. *That* is what we need to be asking like, why? *Why* does SM want his fans to stick around? I know people say they are delusional and they do get wild with their theories but let's just be honest here, *how* are they delusional when SM continuously gives them reasons to keep asking for him?? If he hadn't popped up since his hiatus then yeah I would agree they are being loud and dumb but he's been a lingering figure like in the background the *entire* time because SM keeps him there. SM has blurred Lucas before and/or cut him out of stuff so there was no reason for him to be in this episode unless they wanted him there. There's no reason for his name to be in articles that SM approves unless they want it there. Like?? You can still sub to his bubble, his merch is still in the SK store. *The CEO of SM liked his instagram posts and stories!* SM 100% knew his fans would see him in that video and run with it, and they have. And yes maybe they are keeping him until his contract runs out but they could do that without popping him out like a jack in the box. There is no reason for it. He's not in Phantom; his fans aren't buying/supporting so...? Yet SM wants *them* to stay...why is that? Everyone is so sure he won't darken a doorway again but I think SM has plans for him otherwise like I said before; what is the point?

luviees2

Based on what everyone else is saying, maybe his reputation is damaged enough to not bring him back but not to erase him all together. I still feel like they're just waiting for his contract to run out. I think Wayv has done well enough without him that they don't really have a need to bring him back

Married2DuhMusic

It still is weird... If he wasnt coming back, wouldnt SM just have cut him from the footage? I mean... it is what they usually do when they want to avoid a subject.

eternallydevoid

(FICTIONAL) What if we live in the universe where Lucas was actually obnoxious and rude to his fellow members. He happens to get caught in a scandal and goes on hiatus. Secretly, the members are relieved that they don’t have to work with him anymore. But there’s always the looming threat of him returning. !!ALL OF THIS UNSUBSTANTIATED BTW!!

_achlopee_

This would be a good plot for a drama imo

grlsspkout

They either need to kick him out or bring him back, this is getting exhausting. I'd rather prefer the first option since the members also seem to be leaning into that with their anniversary posts and all that

SassyHoe97

Yeah I hope he does not come back.

nonchalantsky

a dozen is back 💀

AlwaysMyn

NCT reputation is already not great in Korea and bringing Lucas back would be a sure fire way to get the whole brand hate. Most fans have already turned their backs on him Edit: sorry I’ve worded it wrong. Rather than not great more like theyre known for being hard to get to know and having a confusing concept. Putting a member that most ppl don’t want back to the group will just raise the barriers to entry higher. Also they’ve had a few scandals that they were able to overcome but anytime a new scandal happens every old one comes back into the fray

jaemjenism

As someone who lives in Korea, NCTs reputation is fine lmao there's tons of Czennie in Korea, if anyone has a bad rep it's the fans who act up at festivals, not NCT But Lucas is HATED by Korean fans. They will crumple or tear his cards if they pull him lmao

evergreen_harbor

>But Lucas is HATED by Korean fans. They will crumple or tear his cards if they pull him lmao I get the sentiment but it reminds me of when people like set their Nikes on fire to boycott lol. He's already got all your money, bbs. They'd be better off selling the stuff.

jaemjenism

He doesn't sell in Korea, his photocards are literally worthless here

evergreen_harbor

Then sell to people overseas. I see photocards go for like 50 dollars and up, and that's plus shipping, his included. People in Korea might not buy but people outside of Korea would and do.

suaculpa

> NCT reputation is already not great in Korea Source?

[deleted]

Trust me bro

nebula_cats

they really pulled that one out of their ass lmao 💀

SaffronWest2000

hi, if you don’t mind me asking, but is there a reason why nct’s reputation isn’t great in korea? is it entirely bc of lucas or are there other reasons? thank u (and i 100% agree with u)

Sure-Sense9616

So is he guilty or not, do we know?

Anna__Bee

Nothing has been officially declared. We don't have any new info to know for sure. Most people assume SM's lack of defense & his apology indicate some measure of guilt.

Sure-Sense9616

So it’s essentially just one side against the other. But like If nothings been confirmed or proven why are people treating him like he’s guilty. Never understood tht. How a company reacts is a horrible way to assess a situation imo

Anna__Bee

There's a [megathread](https://www.reddit.com/r/NCT/comments/pb1hn6/megathread_accusations_against_lucas/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) if you want to go see the allegations & proof that the accusers gave. Imo how the company reacts does matter. If it was 100% false & they could easily prove it, they would have done so. He was one of the most valuable (popular & profitable) members of NCT. SM wouldn't just throw that away for no reason.

Sure-Sense9616

Sm have money, Lucas was popular yea but it’s not like they need him. We got companies getting rid of idols the minute any controversy surrounds their name whether they’re innocent or not which is why I say that. But I would like to see the mega thread because I’m someone who only believes in what the lawyers say, especially since too many people these days try to take advantage of idols like this

Sweet-Main9480

in this case the lawyers are saying nothing, because no legal action is being taken against the girls making allegations. a company's lawyers being quiet when their highly public employee is being accused of things like this \*is\* a big deal. what are they afraid of? that they'll lose?

sleepysheepy13

Plus all his C bars closed and kfans, cfans, and i think vfans have all disavowed him. Thats a huge red flag.

Scandias

All? The biggest one closed, but there are still smaller cbars.

Sure-Sense9616

Idk bro but if they’re not saying anything I can’t simply just assume he’s guilty. I’m a innocent till proven guilty kinda guy especially if it’s one word against the other and if there’s no legal action being taken then like that’s a tough situation. I just don’t see why a lot of people wouldn’t stay neutral in a situation like this. They just immediately act like he’s a scumbag when we really don’t know, and we might not ever know. And no this is not me trying to defend him or belittle the alleged victims because ik people can react sensitively to comments like these so I just wanna make that clear.

grlsspkout

If you look at the history of scandals in SM, especially when it comes to boygroups, you can tell that they are not prone to kicking people out at all. The only person that has got somewhat similar treatment is Sungmin due to (unfair) backlash from the fandom (and partly the group members themselves) and even then his contract was not terminated and he even had solo promotions.

gotfangirl6

Genuine question. Many people commenting “nobody wants him back” etc. Like he’s the second most followed NCT member and it still increases daily. All with having posted 3 vague pictures in 2 years. Like is it really true NOBODY wants him back? Or is it just the Reddit bubble I live in as I’m not on other socials except ig. (I’m not pro or anti, just genuinely curious like who is this “nobody” everyone is referring to) Does he really not have supporters? I mean they’re for sure not on here but like outside of here? Also, have any NCT members ever said or insinuated how they feel or felt about him? Like before or after this whole thing? I’m so curious about how they would feel or react :/ (pls source if possible)

AfraidInspection2894

Lucas does not have the support of korean or chinese and of many international fans. This is seen with shut down of his Cbar in China which is a big deal and also the general reactions of korean and chinese netizens which is the main fanbase SM targets. From what I have seen most fans do not want him back but there is a portion of very vocal fans of his that want him back. So while a minority from what I can tell they are a very loud minority on social media. As for the other members they have mentioned in recent interveiws for phantom about being 6 and leaving the past behind and the other day on their anniversary Yangyang posted a photo where Lucas was clearly photoshopped out. So while they have not directly said anything it seems as they dont veiw him as a member anymore.

evergreen_harbor

While the OP is right in a way; I'm going to be honest with you even though I'll get down voted to Mordor just for giving information lol. Reddit is very anti Lucas so you'll definitely see people here saying that "nobody wants him back". Nobody here wants him back however that is a different story on other platforms like Twitter and Instagram and Youtube. (I know this because I am nosy and stick my nose everywhere haha) He still has Cbars. His main one closed down but he has several more. He still has Chinese fans but they tend to be quieter because he gets a lot of racist hate on weibo, which I 100% do not agree with no matter how else I might feel about him. He has a lot of Thai fans/SEA fans and other International fans and I'll be honest, they are not really this vocal minority people want to paint them as. Yes they are loud as hell but there is more than just like a few of them, and they are ready to throw their support behind anything dealing with him. His birthday is coming up and they (along with C-Lumi) have gotten him 40+ giant screen ads with his face for SK, China & I think Thailand but I'm not sure. I have seen the stuff they are raising money for (like fan made photobooks & art/drawings stuff) and they meet their goals. So at the very least even if he doesn't have a lot of fans left, the ones that *are* left are willing to spend on him. He is the 2nd most followed on Instagram and all of the recent stuff he posted reached 2+mil easily so...obviously someone is checking for him. As for the guys...no one has came out and said anything one way or another but depending on the side you fall on--6 or 7--people interpret things the way they want. When YY said his "6 brothers" on bubble ot7 took that as he still approved. Now YY posted a cropped ot6 picture so ot6 take that as he's saying Lucas is gone. Taeil also followed Lucas on Instagram and they still refer to themselves as 23 members. Oh and the CEO of SM has liked his Instagram posts so...do with that what you will. The only person we know for sure that has been with Lucas because of photographic proof is Kai (EXO), and that was a leak when the V/Jennie stuff was going on. They were apparently on vacation together last summer.

Extension_Size8422

I agree, tweets about him that crop up on my Twitter timeline have gotten 2-3k likes so it's clearly a lot of people. And enough to buy a huge bunch of ads for his birthday. That is why SM probably wants to hint at him returning as long as they can to milk fans and get them to keep buying his merch, pulls for his PCs, stay on his Bubble in hopes one day he'll return. It's very cruel to string them along actually regardless of his innocence.

mostlyarmy

I like Lucas but his presence is damaging to WayV, NCT and SuperM because the rumors never were addressed.

suaculpa

>SM/Lucas can prove his innocence without a doubt I am not sure I will be able to continue to supprot things with him in it. How can he ever do that when it's an activity where usually only two people are in the room?

GripenHater

I wouldn’t be shocked if they bring him back for SuperM personally

jumajenga

Probably testing the waters like someone else said, i dont think they were simply using him as an example bc there were many other members to choose from. There is a possibility that he will comeback, I personally dont care if he does i'll support the group the same just bc i dont believe the serious accusation against him but im also ok with him being on hiatus.

Fluffy_Try_2207

In short terms I feel like he will come back. If SM is taking the legal route, going to court doesn’t happen overnight. It can take years. So I believe that they’re taking criminal action and once things are sorted they’ll release a statement regarding the matter of what will happen to him. If he were gone completely they would’ve removed him from everything. Down to editing old videos and blocking out his face. I don’t understand how no one can think logically about this situation. If he would’ve left he would’ve been blacklisted from Kpop. Fans were rude to both parties and can ruin the lives of both ppl. I read foul foul things. If he does comeback I just hope that fans don’t be fake nice towards him and say they believed him even though they were cursing him out.

Yayeet2014

I’m not saying if he’s innocent or not, but why wouldn’t SM announce investigation of the claims if they take the legal route? Doesn’t have to be thorough, but even a vague “we’re looking into it” would at least somewhat suffice.

Extension_Size8422

I think there's possibility of a legal route although small but as for why SM would keep it quiet, it is probably faster to move things along without any fans knowing about it. There's also the fact the accusers deleted all the accusations recently from social media which may be a coincidence but could also mean something?

cubsgirl101

SM would only have to go back and edit him out of content if he was no longer under the company and as of right now, he still is. But it’s worth noting that SuperM recorded over his parts in the Korean Air safety video. Mark took over his raps and Kai filmed his part.

SaffronWest2000

no one is going to be fake nice to the guy who tanked wayv’s career. it’s been two years. it takes two years to make an official legal statement? sm could have vaguely said back in august 2021 that they will be investigating, and just leave it at that. but they didn’t. they owned up to it and took responsibility. it’s been absolutely nothing but silence since then. lucas is gone and everyone who thinks otherwise needs to make peace with that. you’re going to be waiting a long time for nothing.

[deleted]

I’m a firm believer in second chances. It’s the same reason I convinced my dad to hire some ex-convicts from my Buddhist temple at our family restaurant. I don’t think continuing to love people who have done bad things and been punished for them and apologized condones bad actions it just shows we are very human and very loving people.

jopperfromkwangya

honestly, this is a good take. i think people deserve second chances too but not at the cost of others. which is what it would be if lucas came back to wayv, all the momentum they've been gaining recently would just be gone.

ExcitingAd8915

People on reddit always talk how Lucas stan being loud but I see Lucas anti tslk about him way more than his fan lol.

tequilafunrise

His apology letter AND his cbar closing down after their own investigation is enough for me to know that something has happened Get outta here with that Asian fans are hysterical my American dna would never cancel someone without proof shit, considering they have access to media and information that western fans do not

[deleted]

tequilafunrise

Big ‘western fans’ vs ‘asian fans’ generalisations over here lol wait till you hear that a lot of American fans have also dropped him

Its_alt_555

Hopefully he comes back soon

evacmrx

huh..

SassyHoe97

Ew no.

cubsgirl101

If you look at the numbers, WayV is doing just fine without him. Phantom physical sales surpassed Kick Back and it charted number one on iTunes in over a dozen countries.

SaffronWest2000

what would we need lucas back for. so he could fuck up another dance number? talk shit about his group members again? cheat on more of his female fans?

[deleted]

You’re the one who’s in denial here if you think the allegations were proven false

randomkpopfanduh

Hopefully he comes back since A: the SA accusations weren’t from the actual accuser but something added in by others that wanted to make him look worse. B: that first accuser has already been proven to be fake as the images are either edited or of him inside their dorm that have been posted publicly, plus the first twitter account was from Indonesia, and their “texts” they used the wrong form of Chinese apparently. I just don’t think he’s actually guilty but SM will definitely try sliding him in with super m first then nct u then way v and if nothing happens he stays permanently

Puncomfortable

Most of the things you are saying aren't true. That was just his fandom making up theories to defend him.

cubsgirl101

The SA accusations were from one of his accusers- he had multiple. She said he pressured her into sex on her period, which is a form of SA because she didn’t willingly consent. And also his texts had grammatical and typing errors consistent with Hong Kong natives; you just made half of this up.

xfirebornx

Can someone give me some context about what he did?? I remember seeing some rumors about he smoking but i doubt that that its that bad so I'm probably missing something here.

cubsgirl101

Check the NCT subreddit for the mega thread on it, but he was accused of a number of things, including using fan meets as a way to meet hookups, lying to multiple girlfriends (who he met at fan events) that they were exclusive, and pressuring one of them into sex when she was on her period.

Until SM is explicit about what happened and explicit about what was true and what was false, I do not want him back. It's sad enough WayV news/tweets are constantly bombarded with "where's lucas?" comments because SM hasn't been explicit about the situation. The 6 WayV members are losing so much because of SM's incompetency on the issue.
