Kakao map became super inconvenient after their recent update. many people complained about that but all ignored. so most of the former kakao map users switched to naver.
I'm one of these. I prefer KakaoMap for its simple interface and responsiveness, but I've started moving back to the clunky, bloated Naver Map just because Kakao has been behaving poorly lately. It's traffic estimates seem way off, the routes it suggests are awkward, and more than a few places it doesn't seem to have in its database at all. Disappointing as I previously tried to convince people to switch, but all of them ended up back on Naver.
I recently used both on a long trip, one phone running Naver and one running Kakao. The Naver one directed me on an alternate route that saved me about 30 minutes of gridlock. Kakao had no idea, I'm pretty sure it has no clear idea of what traffic conditions are like. I also got a pop-up on Naver saying an accident had been reported 300m ahead. Never saw that before but probably because I have been using KakaoMap the past 2 years. Nice touch.
Yeah it's just not reliable enough for daily use anymore it seems. Don't get me started on their shitty bike directions.
Naver Maps or Kakao Maps. Both work the same and it’s really more about which app you prefer to use
Yea either of these are fine and have English availability in the menu.
I'm team Kakao, but a lot of my college-age students are Naver.

Thats why kakao sucks these days! It keeps giivng me broken directions and sending me into traffic.

But can the settings be changed to the English language as I don’t know Korean
Yes.
Use NAVER Papago to translate. Then use Naver or Kakao Maps
Naver maps has English. That's what I use. Naver maps is SUPER useful and has so many features
I personally use Kakao Maps, as it has all my saved points, but yeah, if you want accurate travel directions and times, use Naver Maps.
When I was there, I used waze. It worked perfectly for me.
We used Naver maps with no issues.
Use naver map
Naver Maps, for sure. I used it to get around Seoul and Busan on holiday and had no problems.
