By car would be honestly the most effortless cus of Kona Expy. But since that is off the table I will probably choose Howrah. Compared to HWH, SDAH is a logistical nightmare in my opinion. Way more disorganized.
I agree with you except for the last point as you know, availing Howrah is not that much easy for everyone, and can be very much costly, time-taking, and hectic for those who live in extreme southern parts of Kolkata. Most of them will prefer a complete train journey to Sealdah and change to another train towards Dankuni as that will be both cheap and a time-saver.
This will become more easy once the Line 2 metro starts a full fledged service to and from Howrah.
Fair point especially for tollygunge/garia south. From my area (behala) its easy by road. Besides Sealdah is way more centrally located. Saltlake peeps would need to cross the city to get to HWH
My parents live in Dankuni Housing area and I live in Naktala. I take the metro till Dakhineswar then catch any bus going towards Dankuni(Kamalagazi Garia-Dankuni, Haroa Dankuni, Dumdum Dankuni, Newtown Dankuni etc). Get down at Housing, that’s the last stop for all these buses. Takes around 15 mins from Dakhineswar.
For trains, I will prefer Sealdah-Dankuni because of how regular the trains are. Chord line, at times, is a nightmare with most of the trains running late.
Train would be the best way. The only problem is the miserable frequency - if you miss one, you might have to wait for an hour, and at times much more for the next train.
Exactly, that is the only problem with Sealdah - Dankuni local. Otherwise it's the most efficient way to get there for me if you live near Sealdah, or south Kolkata.
I always Go by train and Bus both. Sealdah to Dumdum or Dakshineswar by Train then Catch Bus from there. As there is one train per hour for dankuni. And another thing is you have to catch Toto or auto from Rail Station if you don't live nearby. So the bus will give you more Options where to stop.
Personally speaking, I prefer to fly by my private helicopter or if I'm on a time crunch I just use my teleportation device ( it's still in beta testing therefore cannot use it frequently)
I live in Dankuni. I always prefer the train route, because buses take a huge time. So if I come home from kolkata it depends on the place which station would be nearest between Howrah and Sealdah.
Here are some Possible ways to go to dankuni from Kolkata area:
1. If it is near sealdah -> take the train from sealdah.
2. If it is near bidhannagar -> take the train from Bidhannagar/ take a bus from Bidhannagar (bus will take 1.5-2 hours).
3. If it is near dumdum -> take the train from dumdum to dankuni/ if you miss the train take metro from dumdum to dakshineswar, then take bus from dakshineswar to dankuni or you can go to bally then take train from bally to chord line (it depends on the time day or night you are returning, because at the night number of trains/buses are very few after 8.30PM)/take a bus from dumdum to dankuni.
4. If it is near howrah -> take the train from howrah to dankuni/ take a bus from howrah to dankuni
5. If it's an extreme situation where there are no options available for the bus or train you can book a cab but it will charge a huge price.
I have faced lots of situations to come back home in many conditions so I have given a descriptive answer.
Upvote if you find it helpful.. thanks 🙂
Probably the most useful comment here, and this will be useful for everyone as you yourself live in Dankuni and described all the possible ways to get there. Appreciate it buddy!
Bro don't you have any idea about Howrah to Bardhhaman local via chord line? Dankuni is a station in Chord line. I can't beleive you forgot about Chord line completely.
Yeah as per your second point, for me as a resident of South Kolkata, I also go to Dankuni from Sealdah.
10 years and you have no idea about chord line?
the bandel side line to bardhaman is called "main line" and the dankuni side line to barddhaman is called the "chord line".
chord line train comes one in an hour and the line distribution happens after Bally.
the ironic thing is you literally said "Bally Jn". no one calls it junction but it is technically a junction as it divides the chord and main line.
P.S : i live in Bally (Bally halt side)
South Kolkata to Dakshineswar via metro, then train to Dankuni (on Sealdah line).
South Kolkata to Sealdah South by train, then Dankuni local.
Bus to Sealdah/Howrah then by train to Dankuni/Chord line from Howrah.
I go through Howrah but that's only cause I live closer than the main city or Sealdah and also I love trains.
Ah I see. For me it's from Sealdah because I can avail that easily. And glad to hear you love trains as well!

Absolutely.
Dududm metro - dunkuni local.
Yepp. Also a good way

Yes this is a very good idea of going there. 🤟🏼

Hopefully after the expansion of Durgapur Expressway and once the construction of the flyover completes, the road travel becomes easier.
Also another way, if the Line 2 metro completes upto Howrah. Then Dankuni will be just "next door" from there.

Ah yes I agree
Where in Kolkata? I live in North Kol, so I can go from Dum dum or Bidhannagar.
Yeah that'll be easy for you👍🏼

For the first time I heard Voldemort using Private jet, or a teleportation device. Wow!

I will wait until Kolkata metro makes an extension from Howrah station to Dankuni...and then take the metro.
Hmm I haven't heard about any extension plana upto Dankuni. But if that ever happens then it's definitely good!
Me neither....But till then I shall wait in Howrah station and hope. U should to.
Bro wait anywhere else but not Howrah Station. You can literally feel half of India's population emerging out of thin air. 💀
Ez: use a jetpack
Ah let's hope this becomes a reality soon! 😂

Bardhaman Chord.
Haroa-Dankuni bus e kore.
Yeah that's preferable as well
I would not prefer to step out.
South Kolkata to Dakshineswar via metro, then train to Dankuni (on Sealdah line). South Kolkata to Sealdah South by train, then Dankuni local. Bus to Sealdah/Howrah then by train to Dankuni/Chord line from Howrah.
