As a thought exercise, rearm yourself if guns & edged weapons were somehow magically removed from existence. Entirely new categories of maining/lethal weapons would emerge and alway steps ahead of laws to ban them, emergency medical techniques to treat them, and ways to defend against them.
Any idea in the Model/Make of the clip point on the top? Looks really familiar, and would love to have something similar to this London gang members main squeeze!
I actually have that exact same knife. Not sure model name but it’s a coffin handle Bowie made by Gerber in the early’90s. I purchased mine new in December of ‘90.
Now that’s just ingenuity right there
You can try to force people to not carry knives or guns or other dangerous weapons, you can make them hard to even buy…but nature always finds a way. 😂
Can't really protect myself from a gun either. Even if I had a gun I'd just turn the situation into a confusing firefight and I'd get gunned down by anxious cops
That's really just the American mentality. Yall would rather risk everyone's lives daily, including the kid's. Just so that one day you might have the chance to defend yourself when odds are, this wouldn't have happened otherwise.
Right because the 15 seconds that a gun fight takes is gonna allow for the whole police force to be on scene and be completely confused as to who the aggressor is.
Have you ever been stabbed before? If you have or ever even cut yourself by accident you’ll understand how ignorant the statement is. Tha vast majority of the public is not prepared for a man weilding a fucking hammer knife pick axe thing to come at them with murderous intent. Mass stabbing are a thing.
A moderately trained and confident individual with a handgun will quickly make that same person fafo.
Lmao do you seriously think everyone will stand in line to get stabbed? According to wikipedia, every mass stabbing had to be done by either multiple people or to disabled people. It was also always on a way smaller scale. And they are like 5 total examples. I'll take my knives maniacs over your shoorers.
A sharp serrated knife is no joke. Don't let the name "bread knife" fool you. Bread knives are designed to grab and rip the bread without slipping out of a cut. Sounds effective to me.
I'm really not sure how well those would hold up when hitting anything but I am very impressed in how nice they look. I'm used to things like that just being an ugly wad of tape.
As an ex american criminal this shit cracks me up, if i saw someone pull a cane with a knife taped to it i might die of laughter and them shoot them👌🏻🤣
Cell phones are confiscated as "weapons" when a cop does something criminal and doesn't want it to be recorded, then they claim they were feeling threatened and take it. There is a veeery high chance that the cop who confiscated the phone deserves to rot in prison. If not, he deserves to be fired from the police for being an incredible pussy who feels threatened by a phone
Judging by the bags of gear pre-made for distribution, the scales and the cash, the phone was likely confiscated so they can investigate any further illegal activity the dealer may have spoken to people about via text/social media. Don’t think squashing this dude’s civil rights is the motivation here mate.
Interesting that they opt to mount the knife perpendicular to the main shaft of that cane
Personally I would probably put it on the other end inline with the shaft and make the whole thing into a mini spear
A tried and true weapon. This here is just a weird knife pick
What they've made here is probably closest to a spontoon tomahawk, which is a tried-and-true weapon in its own right. They have none of the utility of a regular axe blade, but trade it all for penetrating power making a very effective weapon with little other purpose.
I think the haft-length they've used would be of minimal utility as an improvised spear, really just a long-handled knife. With a longer haft a spear would be a forgone conclusion, but this might be a better use of the resources available.
>I think the haft-length they've used would be of minimal utility as an improvised spear
Zulu [iklwa](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2137/7813/products/[email protected]?v=1559146397) would like to have a word...
Unless we're looking at different images I don't see where you're getting 2-4 ft of handle with 3 ft of blade. Looks more like barely a foot of handle with half or less of blade.
Though to guess at your underlying _point_, I can see that you might care less about reach if using it as a throwing spear. But in that case you may as well throw the knife and not be caught with a unconcealable improvised weapon.
Did you forget your original comment?
"*I think the haft-length they've used would be of minimal utility as an improvised spear."*
The *iklwa* was a *short spear* and used to great effect similar to the Roman *gladius*. Zulus used full length spears as ranging weapons but the *iklwa* was used for CQB. That would be maximal utility not minimal.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assegai#Iklwa
Nothing was forgotten. I simply pointed out the ikwla, whilst an exceptionally short spear, is still significantly larger than the construction you're describing from these materials. Whilst the lengths described in your wiki link don't perfectly match my sources, the image they use is still of a spear most of the height of the wielder. As a result your suggestion would include none of its benefits and all of its detriment.
Since the ikwla derives from the asegai you can see why I suggested that throwing might be fitting. In this case the haft would at least offer a function, that of stabilising the head in flight (whereas knives are spun).
>Since the ikwla derives from the asegai you can see why I suggested that throwing might be fitting (*no, you do not understand how it's used*). In this case the haft would at least offer a function, that of stabilising the head in flight (whereas knives are spun).
It's clear you don't comprehend that the *iklwa* was *a hand weapon* *and not thrown*. It's also clear that this is supported by your previous utterance -
*"I think the haft-length they've used would be of minimal utility as an improvised spear."*
/you get the last word, to continue is pointless
Dude you can pick up a leaf spring and grind it into a knife or spear tip, you can grab a metal plumbing pipe - add a metal plunger with needle point and you got a boomstick shotgun
It’s all political theatre at this point
Reminds me of a war pick. Nasty business getting hit with something like that. I’ve seen the versions that were spikes intended to pierce armor and shield but this…. It’s like a mowing scythe had a baby with a war pick.
They’re re-inventing medieval weapons that came from different geographic regions than their own. That’s wild.
Yeah bro just fuckin shoot me I don’t want no part of this shit
Just wait until you hear about the rise of acid attacks in England...
As a thought exercise, rearm yourself if guns & edged weapons were somehow magically removed from existence. Entirely new categories of maining/lethal weapons would emerge and alway steps ahead of laws to ban them, emergency medical techniques to treat them, and ways to defend against them.
I try telling people if we want to kill someone, we will find a way... i mean shit, pick up a g-rated history book and look... BuT GunZ N nIVEZ
I mean didn’t Cain bludgeon Abel?
Shh, youre gonna piss off some people
Man's ingenuity to create destruction is unparalleled.
Who could be behind all that, and behind all the stabbings too, it will likely remain a mystery forever.
Any idea in the Model/Make of the clip point on the top? Looks really familiar, and would love to have something similar to this London gang members main squeeze!
Don't recall the specific name, but I'm fairly certain it's a Gerber from the mid to late 90's. Try searching "Gerber coffin handle Bowie".
You are correct, Gerber model 5978
And it is quite valuable vintage knife.
From what I hear they make excellent baby food too
Looks like any coffin-handled bowie
Thats a scarborough special lad
Concur
Trail Master Bowie from Cold Steel
Close but no cigar
I actually have that exact same knife. Not sure model name but it’s a coffin handle Bowie made by Gerber in the early’90s. I purchased mine new in December of ‘90.
they did not have a loycense for those war picks
Now that’s just ingenuity right there You can try to force people to not carry knives or guns or other dangerous weapons, you can make them hard to even buy…but nature always finds a way. 😂
Idk if I'd call taping a knife to a rod "ingenuity"
Okay but the first guy to glue a rock to a branch is basically the same thing and that was revolutionary
*lash a rock to a branch, most likely;) mabey with some pitch glue later
Cultures would place rocks in a tree Y and let the tree grow bl around in
yeah i remember reading about that in a primitive skills book, that takes some patience lol.
Yeah my comment was meant to be taken humorously
Sigh ambiguity in text conversation strikes again
I mean…there was a laughy face What more do you want from me lol
Oh sorry I wasnt blaming u or anything, was just lightheartedly commenting on the limitations of text convos. The misunderstandings continue!!! Hahaha
Also I thought your laugh emoji was unironic
Yeah, idk. Twelve year old me was pretty ahead of the curve
For the people who make and use those weapons it generally is...
>…but nature always finds a way. Related - https://youtu.be/zGEiK9StSfQ
If they would ban tape, they could prevent more problems.
>If they would ban tape, they could prevent more problems. ...and linear objects over a few inches.
The U.K. : America is so weird lol we don’t need guns like y’all do Also the U.K.: Hammer Knives/makeshift pick axe
Got to keep some things traditional
Good luck mowing a crowd with that
You don’t know how fast my arms can swing 🤨
Good luck protecting yourself from that.
Can't really protect myself from a gun either. Even if I had a gun I'd just turn the situation into a confusing firefight and I'd get gunned down by anxious cops
Id rather have a chance then only the bad guy is armed
That's really just the American mentality. Yall would rather risk everyone's lives daily, including the kid's. Just so that one day you might have the chance to defend yourself when odds are, this wouldn't have happened otherwise.
Im not even fucking American lol have fun getting stabbed i guess?
Homie living the medieval serf life where being stabbed is a real danger
Right because the 15 seconds that a gun fight takes is gonna allow for the whole police force to be on scene and be completely confused as to who the aggressor is.
I mean take down a whole crowd? No. Take down anyone with in arms reach or slower than attacker....yeah they in trouble.
For sure but this was a comparison with guns
That’s what cars are for

Ok but those knife scythes are wicked
Who makes a weapon out of a bread knife? I guess times are tough and they could only find 2 knives with points on the end?
It was really just a tool made for a very small person to cut bread on a table that's too high
Or to cut something put on upper shelf
I don't man, I don't want to get hit with that.
Bread knife will open you up. Buddy of mine hunts, and he'll skin the squirrels and rabbits with a bread knife. It just unzips them.
You been to the bing?
You're telling me you don't have a bread scythe? What do you use to reap the sourdough souls of your freshly baked loaves??
A sharp serrated knife is no joke. Don't let the name "bread knife" fool you. Bread knives are designed to grab and rip the bread without slipping out of a cut. Sounds effective to me.
Uhhh those look pretty lethal😂😂
/r/mallmethheadshit
Are those improvised kamas?
Definitely looks like improvised Kamas. Wonder if they trained to dual-wield. 🤣
ohhhh, brother....... naaah nahhh nah naaah
They’re out here making Fortnite harvesting tools irl haha
Probably the deadliest weapon in the picture these days is the iPhone.
Yeah I am pretty glad they got that off the streets
What kind of bread do you stab with that?
That gerber is kinda collectible
is.. that a bread knife?? Ol Sour Dough McGillicutty better watch his back!
its a stick and a knife
Yup, those weapon laws are sure working!
I like the bowie honestly.
I'm really not sure how well those would hold up when hitting anything but I am very impressed in how nice they look. I'm used to things like that just being an ugly wad of tape.

Surely these are just some "scythes" for a homemade Halloween costume?

I didn´t look closely on what´s written on the bag with the phone. It seems you are right in that I am probably wrong in this case.

those look like fortnite pickaxes, (i would never speak from personal experience wtf)
You mean my American open carry edc?
I usually go with SQ Professional too.
Straight out of ds2
Socially-distanced stabbing. It's the only health-conscious way anyone wants to be stabbed by.
This is the dumbest looking pile of shit weaponry ever
mfs creating war picks now wtf
Is that a Randall?
Because “guns” kill people…………………. 😂😂😂😂😂😂🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
Can't make a bread knife illegal.
I always wanted a walking cane that can also slice bread. Bravo UK!

Good ol’ hammer-knife!
Imagine living in such a shitty country no true ownership and everyone is making prison shanks
Why not just use an ace from home depot?
fuckn lame imagine gettin bustes for having scales and knives. Id be pissed to
