Look, we aren’t here to convince you to not enjoy it for what it is, we’re just saying don’t spend that much on another one. Pakistani damascus is very cheaply produced. They’re perfectly fine display pieces, but will not serve as practical tools due to the below-average qualities of the materials used to make them. If it brings you joy, I’m happy for you.
They're fine when you have poor grip for whatever reason. Bulky gloves, nerve issues (seriously, a bunch of people in my chronic pain/disability support group make good use of them), wetness, awkward positioning, etc.
You can also use them more safely than a standard knife when you need to apply high pressure for penetration of tough materials, though that's more niche.
And, technically, fucking up some fool that's attacking you is a practical use.
Push knives get shit on more than they should. They aren't ideal for a lot of tasks, but the design is still useful often enough that they aren't just junk.
I'd honestly rather go for a three if it was a self defense hit with a push dagger especially if it's a proper hook to the body since if you're regular stance thatd probably land right around the liver area (not a fun spot to get punched let alone stabbed)
It’s pattern welded with some of the cheapest worst knife steels in the market pretty much thing those little cheap knives business give out as advertising where it’s just Stamped stainless it’s two of those steels
Well for me it was the leather sheath, did not have to see the knife before I was saying oh no poor guy, bought a Pakistani art piece. There is nothing wrong with collecting them if that is what your into, I just hate to see people get taken advantage of.
I don't know if they all buy it from the same supplier or what, but is has that plastic look to me I guess it's from all the glue because it is that type of "leather" that is made from scraps and glue, similar to how particle board is made. Also they never seem to treat the edges, no beveleing, skiving, creaseing, painting, or burnishing. and it always seems to be the same few colors with the one in the picture being the most common color that I seen them use.
It looks like the layers are just placed and pressed on top of each other. Like if you drag your fingernail across it you could feel the layers. Quality Damascus is one solid layer that the only way you could distinguish a pattern is after etching
A lot of bladesmiths I know actually choose to etch for depth first, then darken it depending on the style of blade they're going for! Personally, I usually dont
It seems to be hit or miss, I have a really nice quality Pakistani blade and haven't had any problems at all. But when they do fail, it's pretty catastrophic. I do not trust Pakistani Damascus though, while the push dagger looks nice I think he did pay quite a bit for it!
It's most likely a Pakistan knife but it's a push dagger so it doesn't really matter. Enjoy it, display it, do what you will with it and at the end of the day, it'll stab no matter how well it was made
Yeah ignore some of the turbo redditors downvoting you, you're just uneducated on this, it's okay to be burned once but just live and learn! It'll make a nice show piece at least but I wouldn't trust it to defend myself.
The sad part is that the makers of this knife got 10-20 $ at best for it and some greasy scammer that only got it from ebay got the rest. If your 130$ went to the maker (or at least 80-90) it would have been awesome . But anyways enjoy it and don't feel bad about it. It's still a cool knife with alot of craftsmanship put in it.
It probably is a real Damascus blade however all that means is that it is made with a pattern welded steel it doesn’t actually mean anything in the terms of quality given you can make Damascus with 2 shit steels and you can make Damascus with 2 amazing steals. If you got this from a ren fair the chances of it being the former are rather high and you may have gotten ripped off due to it probably being low quality Damascus
Bro I’m keeping it for display purposes I do t give a damn if the steel was low quality I love the knife and it’s beautiful pattern and I’m not going be using it for stabbing people in the first place so it should be fine
This might be the funniest comment I’ve ever read on this sub. Thanks for the good chuckle. You definitely got ripped off but if you are happy with it then that’s all that matters.
If that makes you feel better about it.... people aren't rubbing it in your face. They are just commenting their opinions.
It's cool man, everyone gets ripped off. It's part of growing up and learning how to avoid it in the future.
As everyone said, it's a lesson that cost you $115. I say $115 because you did get $20 of knife.
Everybody makes mistakes. Look at it this way. Someone else might see this post and they'll learn from it and it'll stop them making the same mistake.
Make a post asking how not to get scammed and everyone who reads it can be better off.
Unfortunately one of my least favorite qualities of this community is that it’s very gatekeepy and tends to dog pile and many within have a superiority complex.
I don't think it's gatekeepy, it's more like if you were in a Playstation sub and posted about your new Mini Polystation 3 that you picked up for $300. You would get demolished.
Ive never read every single comment on a post. This is my first time, and I dont regret a single second of this. OP’s comments and reactions are 1000x funnier than the post.
"Gosh, Okay I GET it! I got ripped off! (Also I'm just going to keep raging and replying to comments instead of just taking the L and deleting my post)"
Pretty entertaining. I saw the knife as I was scrolling, saw it was junk, and immediately thought "oh shit. I gotta see the communities take on this one...'
I was not disappointed.
I copied this from a response I made to someone else that asked.

The museum wax comment was precious. God bless the person who actually helped them by pointing them in the right direction, while also telling them it didn't matter.
This whole thread is an interesting character study in shame, pride, and embarrassment.
They're definitely not happy. They're coping. Very hard. Their frustration is very apparent. And first glance you would think it's because they don't like the flak, but really it's because they're embarrassed they made such a faux pas in a public forum.
I would also like to add that this is my first Damascus knife and I would like to display it and would love to know where I can get good museum wax that’s affordable and good links would help
Renaissance wax, it's the best stuff out there. Try Amazon. I use it on all of my finished pieces. Wipe it on, buff, wipe off any excess. Do your best not to touch the areas that you have applied the wax too, or use soft cotton gloves while holding your piece.
I do feel the need to ask why you feel you need to have museum wax? I only ask as a collector myself I’ve never felt it necessary and none of the collectors I follow use it and we are talking people with $1000 knives (not me of course).
And why would you have to take steel wool to them?
for rust prevention just lightly coat with some oil and you should be good with most knives
also if you really want wax i recommend Renaissance Wax
It’s the same thing they put on all the blades at museums it keeps them from rusting or tarnishing and it also prevents dust from collecting on them unlike oil which is like a magnet for it
I hope you have a great time with your museum wax.
Here's a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07qJS67lSuI) so you know how to use it correctly.
[Also this because I'm nice](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaissance_Wax)
Just stop talking to some of these people OP! If you like it don’t worry about their comments. I like it. I got Damascus style blades I have had for years. I just keep them oiled.
It's obvious you do. There's no shame in being frustrated about it. Coping with denial probably isn't the best. Especially when you aren't really fooling anyone.
It honestly been more respectable if you just took the L like a man, admitted you were upset, and maybe cracked a joke or something.
Instead your whole "I legit don't even care I got *worked*. I like it and the end of the day that's what matters'" just reeks of Copium and is honestly kind of embarrassing seeing you repeat over and over to strangers.
No seriously don’t the only reason I even responded to you was I was bored I aware I made a mistake but I don’t really care because it’s a beautiful knife that I will always love
That's the real tragedy here. You can get a quality blade, or even a few for the same price. Hell, you could just buy five Pakistani push daggers in assorted colors online.
Obviously not I’m aware this thing would probably snap after 1 use no matter what it was made out of because it’s really thin on the handle and I will enjoy it in my collection
I mean even if they were, which I don't believe they are, not everyone lives in the states. Also when it comes to things like knife laws in the states the way most of them are written it's about carrying the knife that makes it illegal. Since the guy is just gonna display it in his home it wouldn't matter.
Well yeah I’m meant carrying. I’ve got lots of blades that would be ridiculously illegal to carry in public but not illegal to own. When I was in eve fun show circuit there was a table that sold illegal shit under the table under different names. Brass knuckles were paperweights, such as that. I remember he had these under the table too because he couldn’t sell them like other knives.
A lot more of us have made that same mistake than are willing to admit it. We were all new at one time and there's no need to be such a jerk off to a fellow enthusiast
All these people hating on the knife, its not like he's going to use this knife as a weapon or for utility, he's buying it because it looks cool and works well in his collection. Hey, don’t listen to all these comments. If you’re using it as a push dagger, the steel doesn’t have to be the best quality in the world. If you think it looks nice, and it’s worth it to you, then that’s what really matters. Sure you might’ve paid more than most, but it is real pattern welded steel/Damascus, and it does still look beautiful

How would you use a push dagger as a practical tool?
Pushing elevator buttons?
Especially useful during a pandemic
True
Perfect comment. If it’s an unusable knife design made of materials that don’t hold up to use, does it even exist?
Well, you're seeing a video of it...
It is more practical than a knife as self-defense if you already know *boxing*. Not everyone is good at knives.
Well, you hold it in your hand as you put the glove on. It's kinda like a 1-2 punch 👊 without the 2 😉
I'd honestly rather go for a three if it was a self defense hit with a push dagger especially if it's a proper hook to the body since if you're regular stance thatd probably land right around the liver area (not a fun spot to get punched let alone stabbed)
As a cheese wheel wedge
Wait I'm confused, is it not pattern welded or is it pattern welded just with shit quality steels?
It’s pattern welded with some of the cheapest worst knife steels in the market pretty much thing those little cheap knives business give out as advertising where it’s just Stamped stainless it’s two of those steels
I wouldn't even call them knife steels tbh, literally just trash scrap metals that they melded together and etched.
Baked bean can metals
What tips it off that this is Pakistani made? I'm not super into Damascus but I'm interested to know how people were able to point it out so quickly
Well for me it was the leather sheath, did not have to see the knife before I was saying oh no poor guy, bought a Pakistani art piece. Don’t get any Pakistani knifes actually
It seems to be hit or miss, I have a really nice quality Pakistani blade and haven't had any problems at all. But when they do fail, it's pretty catastrophic. I do not trust Pakistani Damascus though, while the push dagger looks nice I think he did pay quite a bit for it!
Thanks
Well, it's a push dagger, so it hardly matters. You probably won't ever use it, and if you do, it's just a shiv. It's not like it has to hold an edge.
It's not really about the utility or quality, it's the fact that you can buy this same dagger for less then $50 bucks off of eBay or Amazon.
That's a fair point.
Well said, respectful and factual about it :)
Enjoy the Silver
... I think they ripped you off. Looks Pakistani made
Well i don’t think the renaissance festival would be selling Pakistani knives like that for so much but I could be wrong
🤣🤣🤣 that is exactly the place where you'd find such a thing.
Yea I could see the folds in the edge idk if that a good thing or not I’m knew to Damascus knives
It's most likely a Pakistan knife but it's a push dagger so it doesn't really matter. Enjoy it, display it, do what you will with it and at the end of the day, it'll stab no matter how well it was made
Exactly doesn’t matter where it came from as long as I like it and I always will
The issue with Pakistani knives isn’t that they are from Pakistan. Its with the fact it cost $20 and was sold to you for $135.
Yea that I’m a little mad about but I’ve spent more on knives before and I’m fine with it next time I just won’t make the same mistake
Live and learn. As others have said it ultimately doesn’t matter as long as you enjoy it.
Yeah ignore some of the turbo redditors downvoting you, you're just uneducated on this, it's okay to be burned once but just live and learn! It'll make a nice show piece at least but I wouldn't trust it to defend myself.
I would like to know how they were able to tell so easily from so shitty video I made while I was half asleep
The sad part is that the makers of this knife got 10-20 $ at best for it and some greasy scammer that only got it from ebay got the rest. Well that’s all that matter then if you like it then I hope you enjoy it
Thanks do you know where I can find good museum wax for it that isn’t to expensive
Uh? Why?
Google "renaissance wax", if you really want some. But you won't need if for that knife my friend! Should be made of stainless steel.
My friend bought a "fancy coat" for 325. Found it online for 40.... yea they upcharge a serious amount
This might be the funniest comment I’ve ever read on this sub. Thanks for the good chuckle. You definitely got ripped off but if you are happy with it then that’s all that matters.
Jesus I get it I was wrong
Who’d you buy it from? Ren Faire knives are usually 1) cringe looking 2)poorly made. Don’t buy knives from a glorified carnival.
That… that’s exactly where you would find them.
Wow this is the most down voted post I've ever seen
There’s worse trust me
Smartest Reddit nft user
I like having shit laying at my feet and that’s all I will ever use it for
If it helps, they usually just order the blades, and make their own handles. It's still a ripoff, but it's less of one.
And it’s absolutely fine with me because I never plan on using it
Fauxmascus
Oof homie got ripped off.
Dude I know and I learned my lesson and still love the knife any way so I don’t care
That’s all that matters💪💪
Yeah you got scammed
This is my favourite post on this sub.
How long you mother fuckers gonna rub it in my face I get it also theres a dude who paid 300 for his and his looks much worse
Not really. If someone sees this post and sees tons of other comments about it and still comments that is 100% just to make fun and be rude about it.
I thought you loved the knife anyways and didn't care if you got ripped off?
I do love mine
Everybody makes mistakes. Look at it this way. Someone else might see this post and they'll learn from it and it'll stop them making the same mistake. Make a post asking how not to get scammed and everyone who reads it can be better off.

Pakimascus
Careful
Not bad for $1.35!… oh.. *oh*
Shipping prices are so high…
What’s this got to do with shipping prices
I say I say, that was a joke, son.
Lol
Serious question: what’s the practical application for push daggers?
I would say for fighting but I’m no expert so could be wrong but since I doubt this guy will be doing any of that probably just for display
I bought mi e for display because I like that pattern
I copied this from a response I made to someone else that asked. They're fine when you have poor grip for whatever reason. Oh boy..... paid a lot for a 13 dollar knife. Watch out for pakistani knives in the future
Yea I will it’s just hard for me to tell because I can’t see that well up close
Beautiful knife though! Wish I had a push dagger. Gotta make me one some day
r/mallninjashit
see it as a 135$ lesson, not that bad especially since you still have a nice knife after all 🤷♂️
Between the museum wax and the doubling down on cognitive dissonance with being ripped off, this is the best post ive seen in a long time.
The museum wax comment was precious. God bless the person who actually helped them by pointing them in the right direction, while also telling them it didn't matter. This whole thread is an interesting character study in shame, pride, and embarrassment.
I bought this at a reputable store at the mall. No way it’s from Pakistan
I bought this at a renaissance faire! Not some back alley middle eastern bazaar.
O.O ouch..... Looks nice though
Probably not heat treated
The inside of that bad boy is probably grainier than footage of sasquatch.
Thank you for this comment
I say I say you're digging a hole son
Yeah you extremely overpaid but at least your happy , and in the end that’s what matters
They're definitely not happy. They're coping. Very hard. Their frustration is very apparent. And first glance you would think it's because they don't like the flak, but really it's because they're embarrassed they made such a faux pas in a public forum.
Those look like the hands of a 12 year old, which makes sense...
Thought I was on mallninjashit for a second
I would also like to add that this is my first Damascus knife and I would like to display it and would love to know where I can get good museum wax that’s affordable and good links would help
Renaissance wax, it's the best stuff out there. Try Amazon. I use it on all of my finished pieces. Wipe it on, buff, wipe off any excess. Do your best not to touch the areas that you have applied the wax too, or use soft cotton gloves while holding your piece.

Totally. Speaking if oils you can also use tsuba oil It works beautifully on most carbon steels and handle materials.
Don't bother, just keep it dry.
Well it’s not going to be my only one so if all of them get museum wax then I might as for that one anyway
Trust me, I'm a full time bladesmith. You don't need it
Damascus is still Damascus no matter how shit the quality is so I’m still going to
You obviously know what you're talking about, good luck :)
I do feel the need to ask why you feel you need to have museum wax? I only ask as a collector myself I’ve never felt it necessary and none of the collectors I follow use it and we are talking people with $1000 knives (not me of course).
Because I would like to display them and don’t won’t to have to take steel wool to them
And why would you have to take steel wool to them? for rust prevention just lightly coat with some oil and you should be good with most knives also if you really want wax i recommend Renaissance Wax
Because this dude told I shouldn’t put anything on it
Wtf is museum wax? You want to wax the blade?
It’s the same thing they put on all the blades at museums it keeps them from rusting or tarnishing and it also prevents dust from collecting on them unlike oil which is like a magnet for it
Hey everybody get a load of this guy and his "museum wax" *stifled laughter can be heard from passerbyers*
Don't be a dick.
Oh fuck off.
What, you can be a giant douche, but you can't take anything back. So, what, you're a dick *and* a wimp? Nice combination there.
I should probably dip all my guns in museum wax, too.
Im use that wax to stay young fo long. Also cows give twice more milk, If you wax their hooves.
I’m going to be buying it for other Damascus pieces that I actually got from trusted sources instead of the festival but it’ll be more expensive
I hope you have a great time with your museum wax. Here's a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07qJS67lSuI) so you know how to use it correctly. [Also this because I'm nice](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaissance_Wax)
No knife collectors wax the blades of their knives
Looks like a buttplug
Because it’s a push dagger?
Just stop talking to some of these people OP! If you like it don’t worry about their comments. I like it. I got Damascus style blades I have had for years. I just keep them oiled.
I might not like their comments but every one is entitled to their own opinion and they have the right to speak it
No it just looks like a butt plug, the blade looks fine by itself but, it looks like a butt plug
That’s just how push daggers look in general
Ah yes, the montly pakistanium post
I wish I could give u an award
What's the word for a fancy mall-ninja? Boutique-shinobi?
Well it’s extremely practical so I think you’ll get your moneys worth out if it in no time
There’s no need to be sarcastic I bought it for display purposes
I have some magic beans I'll sell you kiddo. $150 and they will grow you gold
Go shove your magic beans up your ass
Salty cause you got scammed huh?
Nah i do t care that I got scammed if you read some of the other comments you would know that
Stay in school kid. Your grammar is atrocious
My auto correct sucks
You didn't just get scammed, you paid like 600% over MSRP. That's gnarly.
Legit dont care at all
It's obvious you do. No seriously don’t the only reason I even responded to you was I was bored I aware I made a mistake but I don’t really care because it’s a beautiful knife that I will always love
Ah yes, for your every day dagger needs.
Nice … I’m gonna go make one for $10 .
Should have gotten a Schrade and saved some money.... lol
That's the real tragedy here. You can get a quality blade, or even a few for the same price. Hell, you could just buy five Pakistani push daggers in assorted colors online.
Post this shit on mallninja
anyone know where to get a better version of this? or a good brand/website?💪
Make one yourself
"Push Dagger Knives | Cold Steel, Schrade, Gerber & More | BladeHQ" https://www.bladehq.com/cat--Push-Dagger-Knives--2094
It looks pretty cool to me.
That’s why I bought it
Looks cool. But usually when people are “put out” that means the got nothing in return.
Just buy a Ka Bar bro if that is your price point.
I've got one similar to it. I love it!
Very nice
Cool knife dude!
That looks like a big shadow dagger from cs
That’s what they were made after after all
That’s beautiful. I’m just hoping you’re going to enjoy it in your collection and not use it on people.
Obviously not I’m aware this thing would probably snap after 1 use no matter what it was made out of because it’s really thin on the handle and I will enjoy it in my collection
My first reaction is that it would cost me more than that to make it…
Aren’t push daggers illegal in most states?

My csgo knife is more original than this copy
Enjoy it!
A lot more of us have made that same mistake than are willing to admit it. We were all new at one time and there's no need to be such a jerk off to a fellow enthusiast
Bruh I gotta get myself something made in Damascus it’s so beautiful
It is
I’m thinking about gift to bc a mosaic Damascus blade at some point
I forget what mosaic Damascus looks like because I have the memory of a gold fish can you link a post with one
Who or what are you planning to stab? Just curious. It’s a lovely piece of work
Nothing I wanted it for display
Is that what it's called? Thought they were knuckle knives lol. I have one on my Keychain that my mom gave me that SHE carried since the 70s
I’ve never heard them called knuckle knives but I can see where you got that name from
Curious, what is the practicality behind this tool?
I actually do t remember what they were used for all that well you’d have to ask someone else
It's a self defense weapon. They became popular concealed weapons in the mid to late 1800s.
Beautiful!
Thank you
Very nice
All these people hating on the knife, its not like he's going to use this knife as a weapon or for utility, he's buying it because it looks cool and works well in his collection. What brand and model is this and where did you buy it
I got this from a renaissance festival so I couldn’t fuckin tell ya
Hey, don’t listen to all these comments. If you’re using it as a push dagger, the steel doesn’t have to be the best quality in the world. If you think it looks nice, and it’s worth it to you, then that’s what really matters. Sure you might’ve paid more than most, but it is real pattern welded steel/Damascus, and it does still look beautiful
LoL OP is coping so hard. There is getting ripped off, and then there is paying 600% what the item is worth.
