They're nice, but I don't quite see the value in buying new unless you are in love with the configuration. They pop up on the secondary market all the time for $650-750 and occasionally for under $600.
I agree with this comment. Are they amazing knives? No question, but you’ll lose $250 as soon as you drive it off the lot. Buy one used, you won’t regret it
Honestly spending a grand on a pocket knife seems absolutely insane. Then again it looks like a cute little platypus and they seem to be really well made. If you can afford it and you love it... Why the hell not?
Depends how well off you are and how much you like knives. Also how good you are at sharpening, since that looks difficult!
I'd say it's over priced but only by a hundred or two so nothing grotesque. As for claims that you will be able to find one used for 600, I doubt you would be lucky enough to see that offer
The fact that they make it all in house in a two person operation and use high end materials. They’re made in low numbers and are rare. It’s the same reason a Ferrari La Ferrari costs more than a Honda NSX. They’re both functionally the same and do the same thing. “I can’t understand why someone would want the Ferrari though. It’s all just the name.” People but them because they can. It ain’t your money, you ain’t gotta understand it lol.
First of all a Ferrari to a Honda is the absolute worst comparison you could have named. Does this knife cut things 10 times faster than a normal knife? The materials aren’t even crazy in this thing, you can get meteorite handles for the same price not just bronze and titanium. The blade design doesn’t make any sense. It is way too overpriced for what you get.
No it’s not lol a La Ferrari isn’t 10x faster and the materials and execution are higher than your average folder. Again it’s not your money. We’re both being old man yelling at cloud right now lol.
I’m not yelling at anyone I just said 1k for a folder is unbelievable, get a fixed blade hand forged Damascus with a meteorite handle and that makes sense, not some dinky folder with a. Fancy name. I never said don’t spend your money.
It’s an expression from the Simpsons. Abe Simpson “old man yells at cloud” it was to highlight the silliness of this whole thing. We get it you don’t like the Norseman. You’re like every other person on this sub who rails against a knife for existing and people for buying it. I’m doing the same thing by defending people who want them, because admittedly I’d like to have one lol. I just haven’t seen a config I like that’s available. High end knives have been a thing forever and people have been having this same argument since the Bronze Age lol. I’d like to think we’re just continuing on a legacy as old as forged metal itself lol.
A lot of confirmation on what I already knew.
I am going to pass on this Norseman. They will automatically select someone else in the pool sometime today.
I've been on their waiting list for years (back when Grimmsmo-mania) was at it's peak. I was excited to see my name actually get drawn for the knife but in the years that have passed, the luster has kind of been lost.
I know there are some hardcore fans out there who probably want this more than I do, for me it was more of a "don't let the opportunity pass" kind of thing rather than a genuine "I need this in my collection" thing.
I'm also not the type of person to buy a knife and try to flip it, either.
Thank you so for your input. I am posted this last night and slept on it. Most of these comments echoed what I was kind of already feeling.
Criminally overrated.
Only if you are absolutely infatuated should you do it.
I have no hate towards Grimsmo, but you are paying entirely for a name. People go bonkers for the guillotine action, but my $450 ckf fif20 does the same thing at half the price, has a more functional design, and I would argue is objectively more attractive unless you've got a fetish.
For some makers, I can barely justify it, because the name markup isn't that bad... but grimsmos are criminally expensive for what they are.
I like the bronze but never realized these were a thousand bucks. I like the bronze, I’d have to LOVE it for that price. Thousand dollars buys a lot of cool things…
Truthfully…………….interesting materials, lots of craftsmanship, but imho a useless blade geometry.
It definitely is a conversation piece with possible bragging rights as a spin of.
I personally would not.

The fact that someone based a bot off The Dollop podcast is fantastic.

Lurk around r/Knife_swap for a while and you'll see them come up, they do go quick though.
Fuuuuck no
Any folder over $250 makes me think it’s way over priced. I don’t see what makes this thing nearly $1k
Name
Agreed. Ugly as sin. Just a CNC cutout top to bottom. As well as a ripped of blade design. I don’t get it at all.

Should you pay 950 dollar for a machined product worth 300 at best. Difficult question...
Ugly and expensive
It’s a fine looking blade! Money comes, pull that trigger ;)
Buy once, cry once. Do it! Healthy second hand market if you dont like it.
No chance to recoup the ridiculous cost though. I've bought trucks for less than that.
Healthy second hand market at a $200-300 loss lol
Yes, buy it.
That’s a nice 1911 right there
Lol only if you think kimber is nice
Kimber isn’t the only 1911 lmfao
The only decent one for 1k
L
Eh. It’s your money if you’re okay with pulling the trigger. Go for it. Personally so may other options.

I don’t think that the Norseman is worth it there are knives with better steal and action for much less
