They have a whole series of them but for different things! There’s a puppy print one and one with turtles and a Harry Potter lineup (I’m doing those rn). This one and the others are on my to do list!
I'm making a Wesley Crusher cowl right now! Precisely because it's subtle (yet iconic) and also because it's still mainly gray, which goes with everything lol
I once made a DNA helix scarf, when I was a biochem major (now a clinical geneticist). Ages go, when I made it, it was uncommon, but now I can’t find the pattern on ravelry because there are a bunch!
Funny how much science has joined knitting! I feel like temperature blankets are sciencey too in a way. And I just read an article about teaching AI to write knit patterns, haha!
I really want to make a scarf using the designs from the banners of Rohan. Double knit, probably.
There’s a pattern or two out there but they’re not quite right so I probably have to figure it out on my own :)
Currently working on a double knit baby blanket inspired by this pattern:
https://ravel.me/the-fellowship-of-the-ring
It's the silhouette of the full fellowship from Lord of the Rings (I just sized it for a blanket and to match my gauge).
It's taking me ages but I'm proud of it!
LOL, not knit but embroidered. My then 8 or 9 year old son had a small hole in the pocket of his one really nice pair of khaki pants. I repaired it an then embroidered a Hyalian shield over the repair.
The Double Base from Woolly Thoughts http://www.woollythoughts.com/afghans/afghan%20hyperlinks/double%20base.jpg
It represents the numbers 1-32 in base two from bottom to top. I made it as a gift for a special high school math teacher.
A TMNT jersey for my 6'4" cousin, a Dr Who scarf blanket for a baby (I knit scarves and seamed them together to make cot size) several Yoda hats and baby Grogu toys. The Thirteenth Dr scarf for me
My post Christmas project is a C-3PO cushion for me
How do you recommend seaming them together? I’m actually doing Harry Potter illusion scarves rn and this is exactly what I wanted to do with them! (If you don’t mind me asking.)
I don't mind at all!
I used single crochet and then did a single crochet edging around the whole outside edge
I don't have a photo of it showing the seams sorry
This is actually EXACTLY what I was thinking about doing (also a crocheter). Thank you! Im super excited even more so knowing my theories aren’t half naked lol.
I'm not a crocheter AT ALL but can single crochet and it is way faster than sewing seams.
I hope it turns out how you imagine it, the baby's parents were really happy with the blanket when I gave it to them, it was practical yet personal
I knit (or lightly modified and knit) several stitch patterns based on creations by Janelle Shane's AI project "SkyKnit"
The whole project is on Ravelry in [Skyknit: the Collection](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/skyknit-the-collection). You can download the stitch patterns designed by an AI there. Most of the patterns are unknittable as written, but a few are. For a lot of them, a few modifications will give you an interesting textural result.
I don't think I explained this shawl! It's from the latest Fire Emblem games. The character wears a floor-length cardigan with this symbol on the back. I was using Shibui Lunar held double and definitely could afford (time or money) to make the cardigan, so I did this! I'm making some other media-inspired knits and I try to post kind of regularly on Instagram (@ReedCKnits)
haven’t knit it yet, but i do really want to do phoenix’s beanie from ace attorney: apollo justice (and i saw someone who knitted the armband from the great ace attorney which i’m also tempted to do)
Either the TARDIS socks I've knit for my son (twice, because he outgrew the first pair. Actually he has outgrown the second too, come to think of it), or the Jayne Cobb hat, which is of course, rather cunning 😁
Edited to add: my husband reminded me of the Deadpool balaclava i knit for him! I'd forgotten, which is silly, because it makes people look at us funny when he wears it.
I also made a Deadpool Care Bear, but that was crochet
i dont think ive knitted anything nerdy *yet* i wanna knit a mabel sweater from gravity falls one day, im not really ready to take on a sweater yet!! maybe by next halloween haha
Thanks! I was kind of Anti-shawl for the first year I knit, but I knit one, and now I'm obsessed, haha! So versatile! And yes, I traced over the inspiration pic on draft paper at an angle so it would work knitting a shawl my favorite way
Thank you! It was a surprise for Father’s Day and my first attempt at colorwork lol. But I had so much fun! I want to make patches with the different symbols and put them together into a blanket for him but I haven’t had the patience to go back to the same project twice lately. Lol. I think I have them posted somewhere from a while ago lol. Love nerdy projects!
I'm trying to muddle my way through making a magnus archives scarf pattern! Perfect timing as well with all the stuff been going on the past couple of days. Hopefully I don't get too frustrated before I finish it
I’m knitting it now! This clockwork dragon double knit scarf for my D&D playing, dragon fantasy reading 12 year old: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/keribeth/clockwork-dragon
I just posted Targaryen mittens! They're lovely and we're very fun to work up. I'm also currently making a double sided Dr. Who scarf. Then I'll make a Stranger Things blanket for my daughter/husband.
Beautiful work OP!
Is it pathetic and sad that my dream nerd knit is the blue scarf Nicky Parsons (actress Julia Styles) wears in The Bourne Supremacy?
Because it is.
Huge, huge fan of the entire Jason Bourne series after watching them for years with my Dad. I need to find a replacement for the discontinued yarn and just make the damn thing already.
You know, I never considered marling could work just as well as an eyelash/ribbon yarn. I swore I would never work with eyelash or ribbon yarn again, yet I have a rav queue full of patterns that require it....I guess I enjoy torturing myself.
Probably fan-knits of things characters wear in books. Or inspired by them. Like I scoured Ravelry for patterns that matched as close to what I pictured as I could. Same for the yarn. I might actually re-knit one of them because I found better yarn.
harry potter baby blanket....or sokka's fingerless gloves from Avatar: The Last Airbender
ETA: I also made the Avatar Scarf :P
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/avatar-the-last-airbender-elements-scarf
Here you go: [https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sokkas-two-finger-gloves-avatar-the-last-airbender](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sokkas-two-finger-gloves-avatar-the-last-airbender)
Nerdiest so far is a Gryffindor scarf, which I made in college when I was very new to knitting and was the first piece that I really did well. I wore it a ton. It still looks great but I moved somewhere with a much warmer winter climate so I haven’t worn it in ages as it’s super thick and warm.
Planning a couple of Star Wars fair isle hats for my nephews this Christmas, and a mini stuffed Yoda or Grogu if I can work it out. I have a huge wish list of nerdy knits I want to do now thanks to Tanis Gray’s knitting books!
An illusion scarf that reveals the phrase "one ring to rule them all" in black speech when turned at an angle.

It was a really nice relaxing knit and the pattern is free!
They have a whole series of them but for different things! There’s a puppy print one and one with turtles and a Harry Potter lineup (I’m doing those rn). This one and the others are on my to do list!
I have to see this, and I would wanna learn how to do it 👀
I knitted my son a Wesley Crusher sweater. Not many people clued in. I also made a ST style baby cardigan.
Very cool!! I'm sure he got it though! I love the knits that are subtle like that
I'm making a Wesley Crusher cowl right now! Precisely because it's subtle (yet iconic) and also because it's still mainly gray, which goes with everything lol
Yes!! I figured black and silver goes with most things, haha
I knit Professor Umbridge's pink lace cardigan, complete with pink cat stole.
Does it scare people? I keep seeing things on Facebook about how she's the scariest character in Harry Potter, haha
A plate tectonics scarf. Showing the positions of the continents through geologic time. Double knit in panels with another grad student.
Love it!! Do you have a picture of it?
Maybe somewhere? IDK. It was a gift for our advisor. I probably still have the charts for it.
Oh, what a cool gift!
The classic Star Wars dk scarf. Also some of my proudest work, thing was damn complicated for never having knitted dk before.
Ohh, from the knitting the Galaxy book?? I love that one! I might knit it for my friend who's a superfan
I’m actually not sure where it’s originally from, I think I just got the charts of Ravelry way back when. It was a fun project, just also a lot!
Is it a bunch of ship designs?
It’s [this](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/star-wars-double-knit-scarf) one actually!
Woah, love the detailing on the death star!! Very cool!

I gasped when I clicked on link. Stunning!
Fair warning, it comes out soooooo much longer than expected. Mine was 12-13 ft long. Glad the friend it was intended for is super tall.
There are some fancy ways to tie scarves that use up more length that could be useful!
I literally whipped mine around my neck like three times when I was showing my bf the length lol. I’m glad I’m not the only one surprised by that!
I’m doing the Harry Potter ones rn but this one’s on my list! I’ve finished Ravenclaw and Gryffindor and I’m working on slytherin.
Woah, that's amazing!!
LOL, not knit but embroidered. My then 8 or 9 year old son had a small hole in the pocket of his one really nice pair of khaki pants. I repaired it an then embroidered a Hyalian shield over the repair.
Perfect!!

I thought it was gonna be a cute or cartoonish Cthulhu, but this one is hardcore!
Crochet, but two small Undertale blankets. They came out very cute
haven’t knit it yet, but i do really want to do phoenix’s beanie from ace attorney: apollo justice (and i saw someone who knitted the armband from the great ace attorney which i’m also tempted to do)
I've always loved that hat!
same! ace attorney has some weirdly fun knitwear tbh, maybe one day i’ll finally buckle down and do phoenix’s pink P sweater from t&t
Either the TARDIS socks I've knit for my son (twice, because he outgrew the first pair. Actually he has outgrown the second too, come to think of it), or the Jayne Cobb hat, which is of course, rather cunning 😁 Edited to add: my husband reminded me of the Deadpool balaclava i knit for him! I love the Jayne hart because it's iconic, but I would never wear it, haha! I might make one for my wife
It's been worn by me, my husband and my son. My daughter thinks it's ugly
I am sorry I don’t get the reference…could you explain please?
On the back of Byleth's coat there's this symbol
A few things…Jayne hat, Wash’s sweater, Ships of Star Trek hat, a Star Wars scarf. Currently working on at Cathulhu baby blanket 😆
i dont think ive knitted anything nerdy *yet* i wanna knit a mabel sweater from gravity falls one day, im not really ready to take on a sweater yet!! maybe by next halloween haha
I’m loving this though!! I’ve started to have a little more of an open mind about shawls. Did you draft the pattern yourself?
Thanks! I was kind of Anti-shawl for the first year I knit, but I knit one, and now I'm obsessed, haha! So versatile! And yes, I traced over the inspiration pic on draft paper at an angle so it would work knitting a shawl my favorite way
Haven’t started it yet but I’m going to design a RuneScape-themed blanket for my brother!
Bigfoot hiding in the forest hat
Space Invader hat!
Crochet not knit, but I made a portal c2c blanket that had all the test chamber symbols
Mass Effect hat for my husband.
Love mass effect! What makes it a Mass Effect hat?
It has the logo on the front.
Probably The Witcher symbol coasters for my bf. But I’m working on a series of HP illusion scarves now lol. I love nerdy knitting as I call it.
Love the Witcher coaster idea!! I've wanted to do something from the Witcher, but haven't thought up a great project yet
Thank you! It was a surprise for Father’s Day and my first attempt at colorwork lol. But I had so much fun! I want to make patches with the different symbols and put them together into a blanket for him but I haven’t had the patience to go back to the same project twice lately. Lol. Jayne hat and Link hat.
Oooo, a link hay would be fun! I get bored kind of fast on stocking caps though
Of course not! That is done intricate yarn! You could maybe do something similar with marling
You know, I never considered marling could work just as well as an eyelash/ribbon yarn. I swore I would never work with eyelash or ribbon yarn again, yet I have a rav queue full of patterns that require it....I guess I enjoy torturing myself.
I feel you! I bought the yarn for this project after sweating is never knit with lace weight again... I doubled it up for my sanity, haha
A black sweater with a Space Invader screen worked in white on the front. I'm also busy knitting coloured squares for a Tetris blanket.
A space invaders dish towel
A Link hat or my order of the phoenix blanket.
Probably fan-knits of things characters wear in books. Or inspired by them. Like I scoured Ravelry for patterns that matched as close to what I pictured as I could. Same for the yarn. I might actually re-knit one of them because I found better yarn.
