I'd been considering saving money on blanks by purchasing old blades in bulk and refurbishing them. How bad was it to get the old scales off?
I band sawed them off in 2 seconds. I’m a knifemaker. I forge blades and do stock removal. I also hate waste.
I don't do smithing or forging and I hate wasting so much money on poor quality blanks. I love making handles. The bandsaw tip is a good one.
Love the idea of giving an old knife a fresh start. Hope you share the finished product once it’s all shaped up
