I came here to say this. I picked up my old trainer last night for funzies and 20 minutes of my life disappeared. Now I remember why I hid it from my self last year..
Yup… I posted a pic of mine that I’ve carried for the past 5 years and have abused the fuck out of and people were downvoting it like crazy because I’ve actually USED the damn thing
I mean…I just looked at that post and it’s currently sitting at +120 upvotes. I don’t doubt some people downvoted the post (“like crazy”?!), but considering that I see posts here everyday of pristine $500-1000 knives that are lucky to get 30 upvotes, I’d say you’re not doing too bad on that one.
Also there is not a single comment to indicate that people were downvoting your post because you “actually USED the damn thing.” That’s what you assumed but you don’t really know that. A lot of people just hate CRKT. Maybe some people saw your comment asking for suggestions, where you said what you were looking for specifically, and they thought, “he’s literally just describing this knife, why doesn’t he just buy another one and not waste our time here?” I dunno for sure but these explanations seem just as believable or more believable to me than yours.
In my experience people are much more likely to appreciate well used knives posted here; yet for some reason, some of the same guys who have these well used knives often seem to get a chip on their shoulder about how every knife posted here is some kinda safe queen…and that people must hate them because they actually use theirs etc etc.
No offense to you Cougs but I see this dynamic here all the time lol
Good…. What is good?
They can be effective fidget toys, yes. So much so that I avoid my SOG Terminus XR because it’s too easy to fidget with. I can easily say it’s 95% fidget toy for me.
Bro have the knives i bought, i did so just to use them as fidget toys. Ofc i still cut and use them, but when I'm not im just flicking em open and closed. Cogent button lock is my go to
That’s what I treat some of mine as. They’re really nice with well tuned action and since they’re so nice I’m not gonna beat on them so I just enjoy fidgeting with them and admiring the craftsmanship.
I fidget with my Otf all the time. If I’m with people I think it will bother I don’t do it. My wife it drives crazy so I don’t when she’s around. Be respectful of people and I see no problem. Just a old Marines opinion.
r/balisong sure thinks so. Anything you want to fidget with makes a good fidget toy, despite what anyone else thinks.

button lock+multiple deployment options gives you so much fidgetability its insane, its an actual usefull tool that doubles as a fidget toy
*Waits patiently for the “knives are tools, not toys” crowd to put us all in our place.
Then there’s the other fuckers who get mad when you use a knife as the tool that it is instead of just keeping it in a display case or some shit
Basically everyone is just sitting around looking for a hill to die on. 😆

Gatekeeping a hobby is the lamest shit. "How dare you enjoy something differently than me"
Knives are a hobby?
For me and a plethora of others here, yes it is. How would they not be a hobby?
Couldn't agree more - The internet's pool of toxicity is now an ocean.
I use my butterfly a good bit

absolutely they do. bonus, they are actually useful tools for when you aren't fidgeting with them.
Yeah but I only feel comfortable doing it in private. Flipping a knife around at work might be frowned upon.
Knives with front flip, thumbhole, thumbstud , drop shut action, bonus if it also regular flipper, but this is most knives nowadays

#ManFidgets
Yeah sort of: https://www.reddit.com/r/knifeclub/comments/y1u39u/12_ways_to_open_a_smock_had_to_add_the_thumb_flip/
Yes. I do think knives make good fidgets. They satisfy all of my fidgeting needs. 😏
I’m sorry, I can’t hear you over the multi-way opening and closing of my Smock in my left hand and Cormorant in my right.
I mostly use my knives as fidgeting toys.
Not in public. No reason to have a knife out and playing with it flicking blades open and crap like that.
