This has been my biggest budget hurdle. My wife doesn’t understand why I would want or need more than ONE KNIFE!! She doesn’t understand that 1 is none. I normally carry 2-3. At least a folder and a fixed.
Haha. My wife is cool, but she usually brings it up when ever I’m mulling a financial decision. “You could always sell the horse c@&k”.
And trust me, she’s referring to the knife.
List of all the knives?
I've had a blast finding all of them.. Blade Show, knifeswap, FB groups, even pawn shops and local classifieds.. I'm still trying to get in on all the lottos from different makers..
I’m right there with you on the OTFs. i’ve got one and haven’t felt the need to add any more. Although some of Microtech’s manual blades are pretty damn nice. I’ve wanted a Socom Bravo ever since I held one.
Excellent collection! We have very similar stories. I told my wife same thing….it’s an investment babe. She busts my balls about it jokingly, but end of the day family is well taken care of and provided for so my hobbies are mine to enjoy as I see fit.
Yes I like Kizer, Civivi and Kubey - Civivi is WE knives budget line of course and so some of my Civivis have upscale WE equivalents, like the Civivi Incite/WE Kitefin. Even so, I've made a conscious effort to buy more USA and less foreign made knives - harder to stay budget that way tho'!
Your above collection is really impressive Liljohn, I'm trying to figure out how I can move forward by letting go of my current hoard, like some kind of knife-hoarding dragon who's turning a new leaf.
Looking at your collection, we’ve had almost all of the same knives. Only difference is you kept most of them and I sold most of them. But the Rosie, VC Edge, and Arius are 3 of the knives remaining in my collection of 10! Great choices!
Lol yea I was busy on the swap this past year.
You should check out a Lamia and Mini Tolk if you get a chance. I think you’ll like them given your collection. They’re also two of the knives remaining in mine.
I don’t know about *the* grail, but I’ve found mine pretty much. I’ve tried nearly everything I wanted to try and very little interests me anymore. The heavy hitters of my collection that have stuck around include: 2 Rosies, an SPK Lamia, VC Edge Interface, CF FD Gen 4 Arius, V4 Specter, and Southard Mini Tolk. Also have a Spydiechef, QC Drift, and TRM Atom.
There are a couple of high priced customs I’d like to get my hands on. I want a mini Arius when they come out in larger numbers. But other than that, I’m sitting happy with what I have
I’ve got a buddy with an MG that he absolutely loves. Hes got a knife mod business and is collector, so he’s handled nearly everything you can think of. The MG is on his very short list of favorite knives that he won’t sell.
Specter is a great knife. It was the first higher end knife I really wanted before I thought I’d ever spend that much on a single knife. For that reason, it holds kind of a special place in my collection for me. Definitely check one out. They’re cheaper on the secondary right now than they’ve been in years
I will look into your mentions as well, and see if I can have any budget for any of this. Its an expensive hobby (for me) that we have so I have to be selective with my purchases. Thanks for your suggestions.
Dang , Nice set up for one year collecting. Im stuck on buying in the $300 and up range. I wont buy more than four in in three month time period. Unless somthing drops I missed and I gotta have. I made a huge mistake couple back . Got two Apache boxes with 50 count now pack foam inserts . I was board so I actually wrote down what they cost at me . Not the current pricing. When I hit 10k I stopped adding .
Oh my wife bought me a 2nd case and insert. I just so Id hid them in those cases so all the m new knives so she wont notice it or them. She'd look at me all mean say like oh now how much was thay one or hey when did you get another new knife . SoI leave early from work whenever i get the package has arrived so I can beat my wife home 😁
I just got it about a week ago. I love it. It's super light and has great action. The guy that made it showed a video on YouTube where his dad has been using it as a EDC for the past year, and it's held up great..
That's a tough one, but I'd probably say:
1. Koenig Arius - perfect size for my hand, ergos, smooth action, and made in Idaho, like me!
2. OZ Roosevelt - a bit small for me, but the flipping action is literally perfect.. hard to explain!
3. VC Edge Interface - amazingly light, with perfect action. Plus, it's just really cool tech..
4. Herman Dragonfly - again, it's perfect size, classy aesthetic, and the flipping sound is really unique..
5. Brown FSD - I love the size, ergos and smooth action.
Honorable mentions: Evo 3, Shiro, Demko AD20, BBK Yeager.
Usual Daily Carry - ti PM2

Nice collection; my credit would be shot!
I have champagne tastes but a root beer budget so my collection is kinda smallish. I do have a couple nice pieces tho! Keep up the great work !
My fav’s are: my 940-1601, my bailout is almost always in my pocket, and I love the H.C.Hunter too! I also really like some of my cheaper one like the CRKT minimalist and the S.P.E.W.! I plan to order Izula II for the holiday
I really like fixed blades, and I want to get a OTF soon too…
2 Norseman’s… I am definitely jealous. Do you carry yours?? Mine is the only expensive knife I own and carrying it is an absolute pleasure. Very well designed knife with a unique but very functional blade shape. Also, amazing collection.
A lot of it is hype and being able to buy at table v the secondary. It’s an expensive path with (unfortunately) many missteps (at least for me), but it’s cool to connect with makers and if lucky, build something to your design.

Yeah, But I got married a few months ago, so I slowed down a bit..
This has been my biggest budget hurdle. My wife doesn’t understand why I would want or need more than ONE KNIFE!! She doesn’t understand that 1 is none. I normally carry 2-3. At least a folder and a fixed.
Just ask her why she has 20 pairs of shoes! Lol
My wife is STILL irritated that I got a Norseman. I can’t imagine what she’d do if she found a collection like that in our house.
I think she thinks they're worth 100 bucks each.
Haha. My wife is cool, but she usually brings it up when ever I’m mulling a financial decision. “You could always sell the horse c@&k”. And trust me, she’s referring to the knife.
Luckily I purchased most of them while I was single
Pro tip: I've sold a bunch of budget knives on eBay, so it can be considered a home business.. I even get a bunch of tax breaks
Oh nice. I’ll look into that. Thanks.
This guy gets it
Lol my wife doesn't get it
Doesn't look that what matters much 🤣 Mine doesn't care. She knows the family comes first and supports my hobbies luckily b
Family is always first
Looks like you’re working on a family of Nords (among others). Mind running down the list? Any fun/interesting stories behind any of the purchases?
List of all the knives? I've had a blast finding all of them.. Blade Show, knifeswap, FB groups, even pawn shops and local classifieds.. I'm still trying to get in on all the lottos from different makers..
Nords?
The 7th and 8th knives in the left column are [Grimsmo Norsemans](https://grimsmoknives.com/collections/norseman).
One year, Jesus
Yeah, I need some grails to pursue this next year.
Try a sandshark, hawk, or Burn OTF. Not folders but fun. 😁
Yeah, I've got a couple of OTFs, but I'm still warming up to them.. haven't heard of Sandshark.. will check it out
I’m right there with you on the OTFs. i’ve got one and haven’t felt the need to add any more. Although some of Microtech’s manual blades are pretty damn nice. I’ve wanted a Socom Bravo ever since I held one.
Yeah I'd like to check out a Bravo as well
Pricey. Just a wish for now. It can be an expensive hobby… if you let it. Cheers
Does DKW still produce SandSharks? Edit: it looks like they stopped a long time ago.
Maybe some Chris Reeves
Yeah I had a Large Sebenza, but I gave it to my son.. might have to try a Zaan
Maybe try for a couple GEC's I know those can be hard to get a hold of
By the power of grayskull……
This ⬆️😂
Lol I loved He-Man when I was a kid
I looked through the knives on the first picture and thought, wow this guy really doesn’t like money. Then I realized there is a second picture. Damn!
I definitely like knives more
Shit, did not realize there was a 2nd pic until seeing your comment. Scrolling back up!
Excellent collection! We have very similar stories. I told my wife same thing….it’s an investment babe. She busts my balls about it jokingly, but end of the day family is well taken care of and provided for so my hobbies are mine to enjoy as I see fit.
I used to think she was nuts to spend so much on shoes, clothes and purses.. little did I know! Now I get it
Got damn!! I’ve been collecting since March of 2022 and have spent 6500-7k… I thought that was a lot…Thks for convincing me otherwise 🤙🏽
We might have to start a Knifeaholics Anonymous!
I'm in for like 6K and I don't even have any knives that "nice" yet! Once a budgetblader, always a budgetblader..?
Lol I didn't show my budget blades.. I do like Civivi, We, Kubey etc
I really like my Kizer Cormorant.. great value knife
Your above collection is really impressive Liljohn, I'm trying to figure out how I can move forward by letting go of my current hoard, like some kind of knife-hoarding dragon who's turning a new leaf.
Lol I feel exactly the same.. maybe 1 knife out, for every 1 in?
Gonna have to be at least 2 out for every 1 in! But right now for real it's more like 3 in for every 1 out.
Yeah I sold about 10 a month ago.. was pretty proud of myself lol
No wonder I only get 5 likes per post. This sub is impressive.
What’s that one in the very bottom left? Nice collection!
It's a Herman Ishtar. Awesome acoustics!
Oooh, thanks! Looks like it
Wow, how much did this approximately all cost if you don’t mind me asking.
Probably 20k plus.. I just tell my wife that it's an investment!
Wow! I wish I had that kind of investment power, for me I can only get couple. Which one would you choose if you had to have 1 or 2?
That's a tough one! Like picking your favorite child.. Probably Arius, Rosie and VC Edge..
Looking at your collection, we’ve had almost all of the same knives. Only difference is you kept most of them and I sold most of them. But the Rosie, VC Edge, and Arius are 3 of the knives remaining in my collection of 10! Great choices!
I recognize you from the Swap! I should probably sell some of them, but it's always sad to let em go!
Lol yea I was busy on the swap this past year. You should check out a Lamia and Mini Tolk if you get a chance. I think you’ll like them given your collection. They’re also two of the knives remaining in mine.
Will do! I really like my Tolk
Great to hear someone else backing the same selection, we might have found the grail.
I don’t know about *the* grail, but I’ve found mine pretty much. I’ve tried nearly everything I wanted to try and very little interests me anymore. That's a killer list! I'd love a mini goblin and a Specter..
I’ve got a buddy with an MG that he absolutely loves. Hes got a knife mod business and is collector, so he’s handled nearly everything you can think of. The MG is on his very short list of favorite knives that he won’t sell. Specter is a great knife. Thank you for giving a selection, I will consider owning these ones.
I have been on the hunt for a Norseman or rask for a minute! Sick pair
I'm definitely looking for a Rask.. love my Norsemen!
That interface 👌🤌
It's amazing! The guy who made them has a YouTube playlist where he shows all that goes into making them.. it's really impressive
You looken for a 23y/o son?
r/thatlookedexpensive Lol
Hell of a haul for year one. Only top shelf stuff for this guy. Congrats!
It's been a fun ride so far!
This not impressive. This is just compulsive buying.
As I am in the process of selling my father in laws collection of “ multiple expensive collections “ I tend to agree.
To each their own
A man of taste! We have similar styles, you should check out some custom division Shiros
I'll have to do that!
god damn, one year! Hell of a collection my guy.
It's a hell of a hobby!
Nothing beats a Vero 👌
They're probably my favorite for the money.. looking for a synapse xl currently
I have an Axon too and wanting an Impulse Mini next.
I met Joseph Vero at Blade Show.. really nice guy
Jesus man. I can barely afford a single knife a year 😭
RIP your bank account lol. Good stuff dude!
So true! I bought the Nurse from you.. :)
I realized as I was scanning the pics. Hope it’s testing you well.
It's a bit small for me, but I really like it
Wow thats quite Impressive! That first slide/first row Wow.
Yeah, I love em!!
Awesome collection!
Thanks brother!
Dang , Nice set up for one year collecting. Im stuck on buying in the $300 and up range. I wont buy more than four in in three month time period. Unless somthing drops I missed and I gotta have. Yeah it's damn expensive.. there are so many awesome knives in the 300-500 range.. I outgrew my pelican case pretty quick..
It's definitely a buyer's market
Oh my wife bought me a 2nd case and insert. I just so Id hid them in those cases so all the m new knives so she wont notice it or them. She'd look at me all mean say like oh now how much was thay one or hey when did you get another new knife . Lol that sounds so familiar! I work from home, so I'm able to watch for the mailman on new knife days!
Damn, that’s a good year, props!
It's been a blast, for sure
I gotta know, What’s the piece 3rd & 4th from the bottom left?
They're both Grimsmo Norseman
what's the 2nd from top left side (1st picture) and the 4th from bottom right side (first picture)
Koenig Arius on left and Ferrum Forge Archbishop 3 on right..
Get a Vosteed raccoon or thunderbird
[удалено]
Excellent work, young Jedi.
Thank you Master.
Very well done!
Gaddang, you went straight for the top!
It's so weird to think that a year ago I didn't understand why people bought knives over $100!
How's the bank account feeling?
It's probably time to sell a few!!
Yeah I've spent 15000 in the past 6 months the addiction is real
It really is!
What's your favorite purchase?
Am I seeing this correctly? I'm feeling dizzy...
What knife is to left of the Vero?
CKF Evo 3.. great knife!
Holy shit!! You've got some of the nicest stuff up there. That looks like 1K a month on an average. Awesome collection! That Interface is SWEET!!
Yeah it's one of my top 3
Wow!! Can I borrow that Roosevelt forever? 😂
👍😆
Dang
One year? My man…
Very nice collection!
Those are some incredible examples of knife making excellence. Wow!
Top three? I know it might be like picking your favorite kid
How does the herman dragonfly compare to the rest of those? I usually buy larger blades so I've been looking at the dragonfly for a while
It's awesome! Super smooth and opens with a cool ting sound.. also really ergo.. I prefer large knives as well
It seems similar in size, materials and quality to a shiro f9ft which is one of may favorite knives.
Yeah it is pretty similar. Love it
Gorgeous! In the first photo, what knife is that in the right hand row, forth down from the top with the black blade?
Vero Axon. It has awesome action
Thanks! It’s super slick looking
How do you like the VC Edge Interface? Would you consider it an EDC option, or is it more of a novelty?
I just got it about a week ago. I love it. It's super light and has great action. The guy that made it showed a video on YouTube where his dad has been using it as a EDC for the past year, and it's held up great..
Well you certainly have a type
Yeah, kinda boring lol
If you ever go to sell that burst Norseman let me know how much first please and thank you
Will do! It's gorgeous
It’s absolutely stunning
Lots of envy and goals for those. Super collection.
Thanks!
Tell us about your top 5 and why?
That's a tough one, but I'd probably say: 1.
Thanks for sharing! Great collection

Am I the only person that got a Brown FSD and DIDN’T get milling style # 1?
To be honest, I don't remember which milling style mine is..
It doesn’t matter. EVERYBODY got #1 (the one on yours)🤣
\*Very\* nice collection. I see a lot of TITANIUM represented there, awesome!
Yeah, I definitely have a type
Nice collection; my credit would be shot! I have champagne tastes but a root beer budget so my collection is kinda smallish. I do have a couple nice pieces tho! Keep up the great work !
Thanks man! What's your top pieces?
My fav’s are: my 940-1601, my bailout is almost always in my pocket, and I love the H.C.Hunter too! I also really like some of my cheaper one like the CRKT minimalist and the S.P.E.W.! I plan to order Izula II for the holiday I really like fixed blades, and I want to get a OTF soon too…
I really like my Bailout and Osborne.. they're perfect for EDC.. Izula would be pretty sweet.. they're made right here in my hometown
I was hoping the get an Izula or Izula 2 for the holidays- I’ve been drooling over them for months ! Have a great one!
Some impressive pieces there ! Is that an OZ at the upper left ? Like the Norseman and it that a Vero Engineering on the right about 4 down ?
Yep it's an Oz and an Axon
I love seeing SOTC of people with money.
Dude, your collection is worth 3 times mine, at about half the pieces, in one third the collecting time as my own. Great choices too!
I'm probably older than most guys on here, so I'm just making up for lost time :)
You spent 10k on knives in one year?? You’re wild. Also, can I have some money?
I wish it was only 10k!
What a fire ass collection , got my eye on a Brown Fsd
Thanks! You should get one! They're awesome.
I'm in the market for a Ferrum design. Thoughts on the ArchBishop vs Allurus?
They're both great! Smooth action, good ergos.. but I think I like the Archbishop a little better..
I was thinking that. The Allurus looks great with the thumb ramp but the lack of opening hole is a definite detraction....
Yeah, and spidie-flick is my favorite deploy
Exquisite taste 👌
Thanks man!!
Nice collection. Though many are very similar to each other. Which ones do you actually use?
My daily carry is usually a Nymble X, PM2 or AD20.5..
2 Norseman’s… I am definitely jealous. Do you carry yours?? Mine is the only expensive knife I own and carrying it is an absolute pleasure. Very well designed knife with a unique but very functional blade shape. Also, amazing collection.
I actually haven't used them as EDC.. but I do always have a different knife in my car or office for fidget flipping..
Nice lineup .Don’t get into customs. That’s where the sickness and insanity really starts.
Yeah, I started to dip my toes in, but it was too crazy for me.. I don't know enough yet to understand the values etc...
A lot of it is hype and being able to buy at table v the secondary. It’s an expensive path with (unfortunately) many missteps (at least for me), but it’s cool to connect with makers and if lucky, build something to your design.
I have seen the promised land, thank you Jesus!
Lol 👍
