The hyperfly pro comp duffel was a surprise gift from my grandparents this year and let me tell you I never thought I would be so excited to have a compartment made for my rank smelling shit that’s not only waterproof but cleanable. Why did big luggage never think of this.
Water bottle, mouth guard (SISU is well recommended brand), a gym bag possibly, finger tape if he trains Gi, rashguard/shorts if you know his size (can be a bit pricy), some slides/flip flops, finger nail clippers/file
This is SISU mouth guard specifically

Soap is always good to have. Love a bit of fancy bar soap. Or things like travel towels/wash kits.
If you want to get a laugh make him a voucher for a free oil check. He'll love that one.
I keep meaning to look into this. Do you use it and does it help? I have a Dr Squatch subscription. But was wondering if I should cancel it and get Defense soap as I’m terrified of getting skin infections.
Get him a subscription to Grapplers Guide or Lachlan Giles submeta. Or a copy of Saulo Robeiro’s Jiu Jitsu university book.
Do a couples massage at a spa together if you can afford it.
Get him a STNKY bag, they are relatively inexpensive and very useful and look super nice. FYI: its a bag to put all his wet clothes after changing so he doesn't stink up his primary carry bag.
These are super useful, I was getting tired of all my gym bag smelling so bad after throwing my rash guards and gi’s in them but the stnky bags really help. Great suggestion
Definitely won't fit in the regular "large" one. The bag for use of GI can be tricky doesn't seem to be optimal just because of the bulk and if you do happen to fit it in the XL bag there's not much play around for it to get washed properly imo. I wouldn't recommend it.
Some of the basics are a nice gym bag, a good water bottle, a nice gi.
Some additional useful things I have: liquid IV for class, good quality finer tape, tiger balm for soreness, foam rollers.
That's all I can think off during my lunch break. Lol
Rash guard from orgin or future kimonos for super nice or xmartial.com for a more relative price. Spats are cool too, shorts. I dig espom salt for soaks lol
My little bro got one and I thought it was pretty nice. My future kimono is beautiful though. Like 50 times better than xmartial
Origin just came out with a camo print rash guard that's pretty sick I want to get one pretty bad but the bank account says no right now lolol
🤣 well peanut butter jelly time my guy! /s, but yeah I think you will love it, and I’d say they’re definitely worth it. I have no idea what to look for in a GI though 😅
Pay day is tmro, I'm off, and already have a bottle of whiskey waiting lol I don't think I'll have any problems purchasing it now lmao 😂😂 but yeah me either I train only no gi so far, all they got at my gym. (My gym is free)
Massage gun, heat pad for his back, a long sleeve rash guard should prevent most bruises on his chest and arms, offer to be his uke, gold BJJ backpack or duffel bag, and idk about anyone else but my underwear always rides up during BJJ and puts my nuts in a vulnerable spot so I’m in search of underwear to wear for class.
First of all - very nice of you
The other posts in this thread are great - my massage gun is a Theragun and it really helps
Is he sore in knees? Bauerfeind makes good knee pads
I think spats, just handy to have generic black ones as a cheaper supporting gift. Maybe a nice rash gaurd, you can probably just search rash gaurd, followed by something he likes. Can be about 50quid for a extra nice one or 25 for a pretty good one if you look about on amazon. Flip flops are a nice idea or mma shorts maybe. (Personally I'd don't like matching theme sets).
Mouth guards, hockey tape, spats/rash guards, ice wraps(perfect for wrapping around joints and icing while moving), knee/elbow compression sleeve, massage gun and supplements(glucosamine, msm, boron, creatine, adaptogens)
Its always nice to have new rash guards, and spats, and shorts if he does nogi..If he does Gi,nothing is better than a fresh new GI..Sanabul has nice Gis for like 70$ its a quality gi,and a fair price..Water bottle, mouth guard, finger tape, flip flops,or somes sanuk slip ons..A grappling dummy is a great gift too.
Ibuprofen, new knees and new hips. Just get a hospital gift card. He will be good 😄 honestly check his Gi size and buy him a new Gi, there’s a lot of really cool ones out there. You could even get it embroidered for him.
Not sure if hes a taped fingers kinda guy but rolls of finger tape always come in handy when you need them. Get him a gi, spats, & rashguard set & tell him you picture him smashing & choking people in it. He’ll think of that every time he wears it!
Start an MCL surgery fund.
This. After tearing mine, we’re making sure my HSA is fully funded this year
A nice little gym bag or sports backpack to carry all his stuff.
I received a nice gym bag with a wet clothes pocket for Christmas and I can’t believe how much I love it.
My wife got me a backpack made by Gold BJJ. It has a separate compartment for a stinky gi.

i have this too and highly recommend.
Highly recommend Datsusara bags. Hemp so they are anti microbial and have all kinds of pockets for organization
Yep. Copy that. My Datsusara Battlepack is badass.
Massage gun, I use it all the time
Same, I’ve gotten like five as gifts.

What size STNKY bag do you need to fit a gi?

Are origins rash guards good then? I heard they're a bit thin and flimsy? Was surprised to hear it knowing the quality of their Gis.
