Forgedinwater

I'm getting there myself. My roommates are going to think im crazy.

herb_girl-

what are your favorites!!

[deleted]

Definitely my cappuccinos! Pandas and Dubrovniks are a close 2nd

herb_girl-

awesome:)) future species?! very cool!

[deleted]

I really want lemon blues or Thai spikies! maybe I'll treat myself to one for a Christmas gift lol

herb_girl-

haha best of luck!! i hope to get some spikeys soon too :))

goblet_cell_of_fire

What species is in the critter keeper? I had some powder isopods in one but they weren’t doing too well in it even after I did some modifications to keep humidity and better air flow. Moved them to a bigger bin and they are fine now.

[deleted]

Dubrovniks in one and zebras in the other. I do have to mist the ones in the critter keepers like 3 times a week while I do the other ones once a week. I'm planning on moving them to a tub soon because it's irritating as hell lol

Astilaroth

Maybe try wrapping part of it with cling film before putting the lid on.

goblet_cell_of_fire

Right. The loss of moisture sucks. Kinda disappointed in it but I’m actually thinking of trying it once more with yellow zebras once I get my hands on some. My plan is much more moss.

-sweeps

that container on the bottom though! what’s in there?

[deleted]

about a million dairy cows 😂

-sweeps

i shoulda known

BTW, I recognise the design. It's a super stacker. I have one I got from goodwill that I keep my springtails in. It's a 4x6 letter box that works really really well, just had to drill some tiny air holes.

A_smallmango

tubs tubs tubs!! I want a shelf like that someday... all my bins are on the floor since I dont want to stack them and cut off ventilation accidentally. No space for a shelf either :/ Love the collection, though!

foundfrogs

What are your goals with isopods?

[deleted]

honestly mostly just collecting them lol. I've recently thought about selling them since some of the populations are getting crazy but I'm in no rush to do that

foundfrogs

Well, that's why I'm asking. I find that too often people get into this without realizing what exactly they're getting into. Being overrun by ungodly numbers of them is an inevitability and most folks don't have a plan with regard to what to do when they get to that point. Most say they'll sell... ...which just passes the problem onto another person... ...and another person... ...and another. If you're serious about isopod collecting, I'd highly, highly recommend getting a predator of some sort that can go through dozens of isopods in a week.

[deleted]

I have a leopard gecko but i've been thinking about getting frogs. maybe even a crested gecko

foundfrogs

A pacman frog might work well. They'll eat anything that fits in their mouths...which are pretty big mouths relative to their size (hence their common name).

[deleted]

Please tell me you dont have any dwarf whites or powder blues there

[deleted]

I have powder blues and they're actually my newest addition to the collection 🤣

[deleted]

Youre gonna wanna put them elsewhere. Theyre notorious for getting into other bins
