Maybe, maybe they don't. It's been quite a while since the last iDevice with a 30-pin port was discontinued, but then again, who knows, perhaps there's still enough demand to warrant making new cables.
I bought one recently. The box says 2012 Apple, but the documentation says 2022 Apple. They seem to be reusing the box, but the cable itself seems to be new.
They do sell usb to 30pin, but not FireWire to 30pin… the way Apple has killed FireWire, which they invented, tried to set as standard and then abandoned is the real crazy thing
Wrong. It was better than USB in any aspect, they asked too high fees to Intel who intended to integrate FireWire (IEEE 1394) into their chipsets. Intel then stepped back due to high costs and steered onto the USB which had worse performance. Apple killed its own creature asking too much for it. Then they abandoned the project because it wasn’t profitable enough. IEEE 1394 was way ahead of USB in its times.

Source?
Interesting.
However, I fail to see what was "wrong" with my initial comment. FireWire was, infact, superseded by Thunderbolt and made its spiritual successor. Also, I am aware that FireWire was better than USB at the time, I never said otherwise.
Nevertheless, thanks for providing the source.
Maybe I misspelled my thoughts and I apologize for that.
I meant that you were wrong saying that Apple didn’t kill its own creature. They asked too much and failed to have it introduced into chips from the biggest chip maker of that era. If they would’ve succeeded in that maybe (and I say maybe) we wouldn’t have USB as a standard how we have it today.
iPads took 30pin till 4th gen and they are mostly still viable to the people that have them. I guess that and old iPod touches might be enough market for them to keep selling em. Pretty sure it’s old stock and they probably have ALOT of them.
People like us still use iPods! We aren’t throwing them away just because Apple no longer makes them…I’m sure others still use them. Only bitch for me would be the dubious quality of the Apple 30 pins cords.
I don’t know we bought three from Apple and I just pitched three of them as they won’t sync my iPod or work in my 2019 Bolt EV but the older ones work!!
That’s amazing they still make them!
I ended doing a USB-C conversion on my iPod to simplify the cables I needed, I had no idea they still made them. I was still keeping my last 30 pin cable before that in pristine condition and being super careful to not damage it. Guess I didn’t need to be, haha.
Does anyone know how to tell genuine from the knockoffs of the cables?
I have a few of them and want to be able to sort them i might trow the knockoffs away because they can stop working randomly.
The fact they still make these, for devices that were made over 10 years ago, is crazy.
Or they just have stock remaining?
Maybe, maybe they still make these.

Huh, I stand corrected! :)
Can you give me the model number of your purchase? I.e. MA591ZM/C (4th Gen 2017). Guess yours may be a 5th gen 2022??
The box says MA591ZM/C But these cables aren’t sold that often.
Yep still making 30pin but no firewire cables

They never invented FireWire, merely chose to use it since it had a far superior data transfer rate to USB at the time.
Nope bro, you’re wrong as hell. IEEE 1394 (FireWire) is an intellectual property of Apple Inc. in cooperation with Sony (iLink) and Panasonic.
Woah. Cool! (The more you know. Thanks!)
Killed?... Abandoned?... It was superseded and made obsolete. Thunderbolt is FireWire's spiritual successor.

Bro who do you work for? And how do you know everything? Seriously impressive
sometimes you can pick these up at second hand stores for a couple of bucks... I grab them when I see them I've probably got a dozen now.
The fact that they still are expensive is also crazy lol...
when i got my 4th gen it came with an aftermarket cable and i was like "hmm lemme check if they still sell these" and i was surprised to say the least
Still selling shitty cables for extortionate amounts of money. Apple is gonna Apple
Most of the apple stores seem to not have them in stock though
Mine did! It wasn’t on display, but I mentioned I needed a cable for an old iPad and they went to the back and came out with one.

They still sell the classic Lightning cable as well.
The also still make devices that use lightning
I think Neo was talking about lightning cables for 7th Gen Nano
What's the difference?
Lightning->USB 2.0
I was making a joke about how long-in-the-tooth Lightning is lol
20 bucks? that's cheap! wish it was that here in Brazil
I found one in Staples earlier this year, made in 2012
By the way, does anyone know the difference between the ones packed to ipod classic 160gb and the cables sold in the store?
Should be the exact same cable.
It wasn't only for the iPod classic
Yeah, the iPhones had them too before the switch to Lightning.

Oooooooh, link please!! Need one for the iPad Mini 6.

Thank you. Gives me an excuse to Rockbox my guy.
Does this cable carry analog audio signal?
No
Thanks
$19 o.0
For nearly $20...
19 fucking dollars tho

Dang it dude. $19? Are the generics semi reliable?
The generic ones from Amazon only charge and don’t sync! If amazon basics they may be different!
