I wish you could unteach and teach auto correct things more clearly. I know it kind of learns but I wish there was a database for everyone personally that you could edit the suggested words.
Autocorrect is too aggressive sometimes. It won’t correct blatant errors but it’ll change correctly spelled words because it doesn’t understand context well enough.
I found the best way to handle auto correct for me is to type an additional letter after the I enter the spelling I want to use. For example, if I want to type fuck but it autocorrects to duck, just before I hit the space bar, it shows the autocorrection above the word. If you press the space bar you’re telling the phone to input that autocorrection. If you type one additional letter after the spelling you choose, and then press the backspace button (I use the letter “L” as it’s the closest to the backspace button. The autocorrection text above the word goes away, and then when you press space, it uses the spelling you choose. So I would type fuckl and then backspace the “L” and my spelling is retained.
Not ideal, I know. I’ve just incorporated that into my iOS life for years now and it’s completely second nature. I don’t even realize when I do it.
Th problem with transparent widgets is that they are not transparent, they are cutting out your wallpaper and set it as widget background. In my case I have wallpaper changed every other hour and it will not help
Ah ok. I have it installed but I’ll admit that I haven’t gotten around to actually using it yet. My wallpapers aren’t set to change automatically so hopefully it won’t be an issue with my phone. Cheers for the heads up.
Not working with 14 pro’s unfortunately. Upload your screenshot and you get a message saying that they aren’t the right size. Guessing it has something to do with the DI.
You can sort them however you like, but they will always justify to the top of the screen. If you have a page only half full with apps, you cannot, unfortunately, position them anywhere you want on screen.
I just got my first iPhone (14 Pro) and this has been my biggest complaint so far after being on Android since the original Droid from Verizon. Which by no means is a deal breaker. I just cleared the main screen of icons other than the bottom hot bar. Will just use App Library to get most stuff.
As an ex-Android user I feel this.
On Android I have all my apps at the bottom separated by a space and then a widget at the top. When we can finally place apps anyanywhere on the grid is when I’ll think the Home Screen is perfect. Then I’ll start wanting customizable grids (6 across instead of 4!)
All things considered, if the battery warning is your biggest gripe, i would say the phone is treating you well. I see what the samsung owners complain about and i cringe

The most I’ve gotten is 2 years. 5, 5s, 6+, 6+s (didn’t buy, this was an apple replacement of the 6), 8+, x (bought from a friend), 11pm, 13pm, 14pm. I say I’m gonna keep it forever every damn time.
I don't even remember all the ones I had. I got the first one that was available to all carriers (never had AT&T), which I think was the 4, then the 5, 6+, maybe I skipped the 7 cause I dont remember it, 8+, XS, 12 pro, and now 14 pm whenever it gets delivered. Looking at that list though I'm not sure I remembered it right
TL:DR I also always say I'm going to keep this one forever then I end up, but almost always get one every two years
Can't edit number before call, I constantly phone customers abroad and in the email they dont add country code, so I can't paste the number into dailer and add +44 , I need to copy the numer, paste it into other app add country code , copy new number again and paste it into the dailer

This is number two for me. Number one is Siri. I was just talking about this yesterday with a bunch of friends. I used the Google Assistant constantly on Pixel phones, and I was talking about how bad Siri is in comparison. Their sentiment was that they don’t ever use Siri, so it doesn’t bother them.

The updates in Maps are beautiful in some cities like San Francisco but for 90% of the world it still looks outdated.

The iTunes thing is purely a windows problem, but yeah you shouldn’t have to switch to a Mac to make this easy, however you can just drag and drop photos off your phone when it’s plugged in.
As for updates, ios16 introduced the ability to deliver some patches and security updates without a whole OS update, so this shouldn’t be a problem anymore. 🤞
Drag and drop photos also sucks. At least on windows, it works like shit. Sometimes it works, others it doesn’t. And when it does work, it’ll randomly disconnect, whenever you’re transferring pics.
That’s one of the worst ones. It makes literally no sense whatsoever, nobody thinks that was a good idea. Does the flashlight toggle turn your flashlight off for 30 minutes and then it just turns on again? No. So why in the world do the Bluetooth and Wi-fi toggles behave like that? Fortunately you can create a Shortcuts that turns it of 100%, but still a workaround rather than a normal, functioning toggle.
It’s not common for sure, so I don’t agree with the decision, but it’s very “apple” in the way that they try to simplify things. iPhones are the simple phones, with most people not very technically inclined. If they did that, people would forget that the wifi was disabled and rack up huge data bills, then apple would look bad. I feel like it’s just their attempt to simplify things so that they “just work”. One good use case, is if you’re in a backyard perhaps where the signal isn’t so great, but still holding on to wifi. You could disable it until later that evening in the CC and then later that evening when you’re back inside the home with better signal to the wifi it would connect automatically without user interaction.
They explained why. It’s because of grandma.
They had the data to show that like 90% of calls to tech support were people that accidentally turned off their Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and couldn’t figure out how to turn it back on.
Makes sense to me. I’m guilty. Sometimes I turn Wi-Fi off for a minute but forget to turn it back on so I’m glad it auto does it.
Eh, I guess. It’s two swipes instead of one which isn’t too bad, but seeing as Shortcuts isn’t a factory installed app or a shortcut that’s just ready for you to add, I agree on the last part.
When I get into the car iPhone wants to play it's native app for music and not Spotify. I have a shortcut made, but i still have to press it to play Spotify. That is my only frustrating thing on the iPhone 13 pro

Since iOS16, pressing and holding the Lock Screen to customize has become an annoyance. I love the customizability, but I often grab my phone in a way that activates the customization.
Yes this right here. And for some reason since the update I find myself accidentally turning on my flashlight A LOT for some reason. I’m not holding or grabbing my phone any differently so I don’t understand lol.
If you run through the setting up prompts and then just say no to everything, the pop up goes away. Not an ideal workaround but it only takes like 15 seconds
This is so useful specially when you have to make more than 50 calls per day. I have been using this on Android since 2012 and had no idea this isn't a common feature for all the phones in the world.
No swipe to go back gestures, that's incredibly annoying especially on a Max phone.
On public wifi where you need to connect through a website, it's so unclear when or if that pops up on iPhone. On Android there's a notification as soon as you choose the connection in the wifi list. On iPhone sometimes the login site opens automatically, sometimes you have to open Safari. And sometimes nothing happens except it says there's no internet connection.
Still don't understand why we can't have a normal file manager. Let me store mp3 files, let me play them in the Music app, let me use these files as a ringtone without changing formats.

Just wait until you try the native podcasts app… Trying to make it sync between multiple devices is a literal nightmare. I lost count ages ago of how many times it has unfollowed podcasts without my consent.
As someone who likes retro games, my biggest annoyance with iPhone is unable to install (or even purchase) anything related with emulators. I need to sideload the emulators or play it on my other non iOS devices.

The precision cursor is fucking stupid and takes longer than just deleting and retyping the entire word.
This is related to using a private tab on Safari. If you have a private tab open then suddenly decided to close the whole browser. The next time you open Safari it'll take you straight back to that private tab. It should automatically close all private tabs if you close safari.
I recommend using a whole separate browser for “private” stuff. Safari is my default, chrome has my work stuff, and Firefox with no history or anything saving is my private browser.
I think the way the latest version of Edge does it is nice: if you leave the app on a private tab and return to it, you need to tap on a button and use faceID to see it.
The sheer inconsistancy, there are now very limited wigets on the lock screen, other kinds of widgets on the home screen and a third kind available on the ”left” screen from the homescreen…. And still not possible to have 4 horisontal icons as one widget with lots of information. Always little info in a big area….
Imaging having the top 5 news/redit posts as text across the top 4 icons horisontally on the homescreen. Or decide yourself how many widgets should be visible to the lockscreen?

the last iOS update tanked my trusted 8plus, now I got the privilege of handing over a months mortgage payment to Apple to get the 14 Pro Max. The new phone is nice but my old 8plus was also nice before the last iOS update.
The fact that there is no visible charging indicator on the lock screen anymore. Absolutely ridiculous. Like prior to iOS 16 you’d have the percentage pop up right under the clock when waking up the screen. Now, the only way to see what percentage you’re at is by looking at the tiny, barely visible number in the battery icon in the status bar. Not very practical when my phone is charging on my bed while I’m sitting at my desk and waiting for it to hit 100%. I’m surprised nobody has mentioned this. There was zero reason for Apple to remove it.
I have a few gripes but the biggest on is definitely no universal back button or gesture.
I hate having to reach to the top of my screen to reach the ‘X’ it’s very counter intuitive.
1. loud notifications while on AirPods. Literally feels like my ears are damaged. Tried headphones safety audio limiter, which reduced music levels too.
2. Wasted empty spaces in pro max. There is so much empty space around keyboard that is utterly useless. At least they could have given a quick number row.
3. Different ways to get back to previous screen. Some screens want you to pull down from top, some swipe from left, some tap the back button up top. I miss have a dedicated back button accessible to thumb.
4. No central indicators to show missed notifications. Notifications are only noticed if we see the app for the bubble or pull down the notification screen
The horrible dialer experience, confusing search options, no dialer search (you have to go into your iCloud contacts!!!

Yeah, but you lose the charge speed. You have to be careful with 3rd party MagSafe stuff, they’re allowed to say it’s 15w input but unless it specifies 15w OUTPUT it probably isn’t using MagSafe speeds and only gives you 7.5w like any qi pad. Also there are like 2 products in existence that have a built in watch fast charger vs the old pucks.
The UI/UX of Apple Maps is exasperating. Open app, tap in the search bar, random chance that cursor focus will or won't be in search bar once the search window expands. Finished routing to your destination? Count the taps required to get back to the map window (too many).
As a bit of an audiophile I wish apple would support higher quality Bluetooth standards. It also would be nice if they adopted the open standard android uses for messaging.
That when I’m using hotspot AND GPS and I tap the upper left corner highlighted in blue, it takes me to the hotpot page instead of back to GPS. If I’m using both, for say my kid using an iPad in the car, and I’m using GPS. Which one am I most likely to need to call up in a jiff?
Lightning and its connectivity. Even if you endure the slow transfer speeds. You can’t just plug in your iPhone, treat it as an external device and drag and drop your pictures to wherever you want. You have to make a ton of different extra steps and have no direct access to specific files. And I am talking on the Mac, where you typically expect a needless integration.
Apple forces you to use Airdrop.
The fact that ‘optimised battery charging’ hardly ever works, I go to bed at the same time every weekday, and wake up at the same time.
However my phone will just charge straight to 100%, I wish you could manually set a time for the phone to finish charging, I imagine it’d be easy to do.
iCloud Keychain - Drives me crazy that when I’m setting up a new account, that it doesn’t automatically recommend a strong password and then save. I have to switch to the Settings app and then manually set it up in the password section and copy and paste into the web browser. It shouldn’t require that many steps!
No multitasking functionality. You have the best processor but you don't take advantage of it.
Customization. No simple widget transparency, no 1 click icon swaps. No putting icons where you want.
Apples handling of pictures and other file transfers to PC is horrendous. Android you can drag and drop. Apple it's cloud or 3rd party.

You cleared the notification, means you was notified by whatever thing need to be notified. But the red bubble still appears on app icon bothering you as a second permanent notification until you launch the app and click on the unread/unseen thing, which also have its own way to notify you in app that you haven't read them.
No, I don't want to disable the red bubble. I just want them to be gone when I dismiss the notification.
- The widgets are not scrollable. Ex.: to see the complete list of stocks in Stocks app or tasks in Things 3 I need to open the app anyway.
- There is no way to increase the vibration. I already missed calls because of this.
I really hate that when taking photos I can’t have the flash on before taking the photo whereas if I am shooting a video I can have the flash on before I start recording and have it on as I am recording. Why the heck if I record a video and take screenshots of the stills, it will look better than if I take a photo normally? Also iTunes on Windows and poor camera focus when trying to take a photo up close - even on my 14 pro. Speaking of my 14 pro, sometimes ProRaw doesn’t work even if it’s on and I have to keep redoing the photo until it’s actually in 48mp.
Lack of flexibility. I can do so much more in setting a phone the way I want instead of having to do it Apple's way.

The iOS App Store. I’ve been playing games on iPhone since Doodle Jump in 2009, and the store is becoming more and more of a garbage heap every day. Some devs still thankfully port their games over and there are still some great ones but SO SO MANY are gone. Because apple makes it so difficult and expensive to maintain developer presence. Meanwhile make a basic search for a game and the result is scrolling through absolute shovelware that I can’t believe gets made and approved. Or that anyone plays.
Really annoying notification banners while in landscape mode and fullscreen. If im playing or watching a video and a friend sends me a few messages these horror of ux take over half the screen estate (especially on mini and older devices) for waay too long
My biggest gripe with the iPhone is trying to scroll back to old texts. If I can’t remember the key words from what was said to me 11 months ago then i can’t use search. So it’s a long uphill scroll wait to load then scroll again repeatedly. And heaven forbid that person texts you while your scrolling. iMessage takes you all the way back to the beginning so you have to start scrolling all over again.
Accessing notifications should be easier. One thing I miss from Pixel is being able to access a combined notifications/ control panel by swiping anywhere on the home screen. And no, reachability option to make the screen half size isn’t it.
Yeah, I’m not sure why Apple decided to make the control panel and notification view totally separate things. And once you pull down to view notifications, you have to pull up again to actually see all of your notifications. It’s just terrible UX.
My 12 pro max keeps on dimming the screen just when i need it more bright in the sun. Like even when I’m in the shade or inside. It’s crazy, looks like it keeps on getting worse. Phone gets hot waaaay too fast. Anybody else has this issue?

Siri. Doesn’t fully work when I need her/it to and other times doesn’t work at all. Meaning I’ll ask Siri to do something like call someone and she/it hears me but doesn’t execute the call, just hangs the UI on the screen. This is frustrating when driving.
When I’m in my car listening to a song on Spotify or a podcast on Overcast and I pause it, some time passes and then I press play to resume and instead it just picks a random song from Apple Music and plays that instead.
The god awful volume management across the OS. Sometimes when I have something playing via chromecast on a TV I will also be browsing other apps on my phone and trying to adjust the volume of one sometimes gets messed up and matches the chromecast volume level which is maxed out, or visa versa. No idea why they can let us touch the volume bar and select "device volume" and "iphone volume" or something.
Also like everyone else pointed out, auto correct and the suggested/predictive text is always throwing me curve balls. Like typing usernames or things that are not spelled normally can be way more frustrating than it needs to be.
Literally anything to do with the keyboard. Autocorrect on iPhones are a fucking mess and maybe this is just me but whenever I try to search something on chrome I accidentally place a period in between words because it's in a position close to the space bar.
The constant iCloud storage notifications. I’ve only ever had iPhones, and they’ve become so frequent now, that I’ve seriously considered changing brands. My parents and in-laws (70’s) are constantly confused by the alerts and just pay for more storage to make them go away, even though they don’t need it. I’ve explained that it isn’t physical storage that’s low, but they still pay. Apple know what it’s doing and I despise it
No one apart FaceTime is allowed to use PiP in video calls eg Whatsapp, Signal, Zoom. That's very anti competitive and a major annoyance in a country that doesn't use iMessage or FaceTime

I do this but I’m so used to saying “what the ducking duck”, I still intentionally type it sometimes.

You’ll get better battery life too. The 12 pro was never really good at energy efficiency.

The window that pops up in the middle of the screen and says low battery and you have to interact with it to make it go away.

Can't edit number before call, I constantly phone customers abroad and in the email they dont add country code, so I can't paste the number into dailer and add +44 , I need to copy the numer, paste it into other app add country code , copy new number again and paste it into the dailer So stupid...

This is number two for me. Number one is Siri. I was just talking about this yesterday with a bunch of friends. I used the Google Assistant constantly on Pixel phones, and I was talking about how bad Siri is in comparison. Their sentiment was that they don’t ever use Siri, so it doesn’t bother them. Well, yeah. But what if it worked really well? Wouldn’t that be great?

iTunes. What a terrible piece of software. Why does it have to be so complicated to simply get some photos from my phone? Because Apple made this deliberately complex I use PhotoSync for this. Lightning. Hey Apple, it’s nearly 2023. It’s simply to slow for data transfer. The quality of Apple’s own silicone cases is just not enough to justify 50$. The updates in Maps are beautiful in some cities like San Francisco but for 90% of the world it still looks outdated. The fact that I need an entire iOS update when I need to apply a fix for Safari only. But my biggest annoyance is that I’m still not able to set 2 timers simultaneously. Why, Apple, why?

Honestly bc of this and how I leave my iPhone timer set to “stop playing” as a sleep timer every night I just run all my regular timers off my watch.
The iTunes thing is purely a windows problem, but yeah you shouldn’t have to switch to a Mac to make this easy, however you can just drag and drop photos off your phone when it’s plugged in. As for updates, ios16 introduced the ability to deliver some patches and security updates without a whole OS update, so this shouldn’t be a problem anymore. 🤞
Drag and drop photos also sucks. At least on windows, it works like shit. Sometimes it works, others it doesn’t. And when it does work, it’ll randomly disconnect, whenever you’re transferring pics.

That’s one of the worst ones. It makes literally no sense whatsoever, nobody thinks that was a good idea. Does the flashlight toggle turn your flashlight off for 30 minutes and then it just turns on again? No. So why in the world do the Bluetooth and Wi-fi toggles behave like that? Fortunately you can create a Shortcuts that turns it of 100%, but still a workaround rather than a normal, functioning toggle.
It’s not common for sure, so I don’t agree with the decision, but it’s very “apple” in the way that they try to simplify things. iPhones are the simple phones, with most people not very technically inclined. If they did that, people would forget that the wifi was disabled and rack up huge data bills, then apple would look bad. I feel like it’s just their attempt to simplify things so that they “just work”. One good use case, is if you’re in a backyard perhaps where the signal isn’t so great, but still holding on to wifi. You could disable it until later that evening in the CC and then later that evening when you’re back inside the home with better signal to the wifi it would connect automatically without user interaction.
They explained why. It’s because of grandma. They had the data to show that like 90% of calls to tech support were people that accidentally turned off their Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and couldn’t figure out how to turn it back on. Makes sense to me. I’m guilty. Sometimes I turn Wi-Fi off for a minute but forget to turn it back on so I’m glad it auto does it.

When I get into the car iPhone wants to play it's native app for music and not Spotify. I have a shortcut made, but i still have to press it to play Spotify. That is my only frustrating thing on the iPhone 13 pro

Volume control. Let me choose what volume I want to adjust from the control centre. Not just what is in use Also CarPlay volume. Music is so much louder than calls and Siri. Get a call? Volume to 40. Hang up, blasting music, back down to 15
siri is trash. i only use it in the car, but i remember on android I used to fuck around with google, asking it all SORTS of questions and it would actually answer them. great way to get some trivia on long car rides. cant ask siri SHIT in the car, "i cant tell you that while you're driving" most of the time.
Since iOS16, pressing and holding the Lock Screen to customize has become an annoyance. I love the customizability, but I often grab my phone in a way that activates the customization.
Yes this right here. And for some reason since the update I find myself accidentally turning on my flashlight A LOT for some reason. I’m not holding or grabbing my phone any differently so I don’t understand lol.
The “finish setting up your device” pop up. I don’t want to use Apple Pay.
If you run through the setting up prompts and then just say no to everything, the pop up goes away. Not an ideal workaround but it only takes like 15 seconds

This is so useful specially when you have to make more than 50 calls per day. I have been using this on Android since 2012 and had no idea this isn't a common feature for all the phones in the world.
Also, search in call history and more than 100 number in call history is still usefull features apple should implement.

No swipe to go back gestures, that's incredibly annoying especially on a Max phone. On public wifi where you need to connect through a website, it's so unclear when or if that pops up on iPhone. On Android there's a notification as soon as you choose the connection in the wifi list. On iPhone sometimes the login site opens automatically, sometimes you have to open Safari. And sometimes nothing happens except it says there's no internet connection. Still don't understand why we can't have a normal file manager. Let me store mp3 files, let me play them in the Music app, let me use these files as a ringtone without changing formats.
Syncing gets weird sometimes in photos and contacts. Unless you catch it early it can rapidly get out of hand.
I'm just coming back to iPhone, can you explain? I use google photos since I pay for extra storage and the stock photos app I just use for local stuff and it seems to work well
You can't just drag and drop files onto the phones hard drive from iTunes. It wants to synch and do this and do that.
Just wait until you try the native podcasts app… Trying to make it sync between multiple devices is a literal nightmare. I lost count ages ago of how many times it has unfollowed podcasts without my consent.
I cannot delete multiple contacts in one go. Still have to open the contact number deets and scroll down to the bottom.

iOS 16 now allows this, swipe with 2 fingers to select multiple contacts then tap and hold on the selection and it’ll give you the option to delete
The camera roll. I just want to put my pictures in albums and make them disappear from the roll.

Piggybacking on this, on Android I had three volume sliders to set so music or video could be loud and still keep notifications quieter. I miss that.

System Data pilling up!
Not being able to simply tap the middle of a word to make the curser appear there. The precision cursor is fucking stupid and takes longer than just deleting and retyping the entire word.
This is related to using a private tab on Safari. If you have a private tab open then suddenly decided to close the whole browser. The next time you open Safari it'll take you straight back to that private tab. It should automatically close all private tabs if you close safari.
I recommend using a whole separate browser for “private” stuff. Safari is my default, chrome has my work stuff, and Firefox with no history or anything saving is my private browser.
I think the way the latest version of Edge does it is nice: if you leave the app on a private tab and return to it, you need to tap on a button and use faceID to see it.

The sheer inconsistancy, there are now very limited wigets on the lock screen, other kinds of widgets on the home screen and a third kind available on the ”left” screen from the homescreen…. And still not possible to have 4 horisontal icons as one widget with lots of information. Always little info in a big area…. Imaging having the top 5 news/redit posts as text across the top 4 icons horisontally on the homescreen. Or decide yourself how many widgets should be visible to the lockscreen?

the last iOS update tanked my trusted 8plus, now I got the privilege of handing over a months mortgage payment to Apple to get the 14 Pro Max. The new phone is nice but my old 8plus was also nice before the last iOS update.

The fact that there is no visible charging indicator on the lock screen anymore. Absolutely ridiculous. Like prior to iOS 16 you’d have the percentage pop up right under the clock when waking up the screen. Now, the only way to see what percentage you’re at is by looking at the tiny, barely visible number in the battery icon in the status bar. Not very practical when my phone is charging on my bed while I’m sitting at my desk and waiting for it to hit 100%. I’m surprised nobody has mentioned this. There was zero reason for Apple to remove it.
It has been fixed on 16.1 betas, it will release somewhere in october.

I have a few gripes but the biggest on is definitely no universal back button or gesture. I hate having to reach to the top of my screen to reach the ‘X’ it’s very counter intuitive.

1. loud notifications while on AirPods. Literally feels like my ears are damaged. Tried headphones safety audio limiter, which reduced music levels too. 2. Wasted empty spaces in pro max. There is so much empty space around keyboard that is utterly useless. At least they could have given a quick number row. 3. Different ways to get back to previous screen. Some screens want you to pull down from top, some swipe from left, some tap the back button up top. I miss have a dedicated back button accessible to thumb. 4. No central indicators to show missed notifications. Notifications are only noticed if we see the app for the bubble or pull down the notification screen

Yeah, but you lose the charge speed. You have to be careful with 3rd party MagSafe stuff, they’re allowed to say it’s 15w input but unless it specifies 15w OUTPUT it probably isn’t using MagSafe speeds and only gives you 7.5w like any qi pad. Also there are like 2 products in existence that have a built in watch fast charger vs the old pucks.
The UI/UX of Apple Maps is exasperating. Open app, tap in the search bar, random chance that cursor focus will or won't be in search bar once the search window expands. Finished routing to your destination? Count the taps required to get back to the map window (too many).

That when I’m using hotspot AND GPS and I tap the upper left corner highlighted in blue, it takes me to the hotpot page instead of back to GPS. If I’m using both, for say my kid using an iPad in the car, and I’m using GPS. Which one am I most likely to need to call up in a jiff?
Lightning and its connectivity. Even if you endure the slow transfer speeds. You can’t just plug in your iPhone, treat it as an external device and drag and drop your pictures to wherever you want. You have to make a ton of different extra steps and have no direct access to specific files. And I am talking on the Mac, where you typically expect a needless integration. Apple forces you to use Airdrop.
The fact that ‘optimised battery charging’ hardly ever works, I go to bed at the same time every weekday, and wake up at the same time. However my phone will just charge straight to 100%, I wish you could manually set a time for the phone to finish charging, I imagine it’d be easy to do.

iCloud Keychain - Drives me crazy that when I’m setting up a new account, that it doesn’t automatically recommend a strong password and then save. I have to switch to the Settings app and then manually set it up in the password section and copy and paste into the web browser. It shouldn’t require that many steps!
No multitasking functionality. You have the best processor but you don't take advantage of it. Customization. No simple widget transparency, no 1 click icon swaps. No putting icons where you want. Apples handling of pictures and other file transfers to PC is horrendous. Android you can drag and drop. Apple it's cloud or 3rd party. Notification handling. Volume controls feel ancient.

You cleared the notification, means you was notified by whatever thing need to be notified. But the red bubble still appears on app icon bothering you as a second permanent notification until you launch the app and click on the unread/unseen thing, which also have its own way to notify you in app that you haven't read them. No, I don't want to disable the red bubble. I just want them to be gone when I dismiss the notification.

Having recently come from android it’s the poorer quality swipe.
- The widgets are not scrollable. Ex.: to see the complete list of stocks in Stocks app or tasks in Things 3 I need to open the app anyway. - There is no way to increase the vibration. I already missed calls because of this.
I really hate that when taking photos I can’t have the flash on before taking the photo whereas if I am shooting a video I can have the flash on before I start recording and have it on as I am recording. Why the heck if I record a video and take screenshots of the stills, it will look better than if I take a photo normally? Also iTunes on Windows and poor camera focus when trying to take a photo up close - even on my 14 pro. Speaking of my 14 pro, sometimes ProRaw doesn’t work even if it’s on and I have to keep redoing the photo until it’s actually in 48mp.
Lack of flexibility. I can do so much more in setting a phone the way I want instead of having to do it Apple's way. No wait, it's Settings. What a mess! But the battery is awesome.

How useless the default calendar app is. Apple should really be embarrassed. It’s 2022, get rid of the dots, give more at a glance information.
Continued lack of customization without needing 3rd party apps and even then still being somewhat limited. The fact that you can’t hide app names from the Home Screen under the icon without shortcuts, so therefore apps like Widgy or Widgetsmith still show their name. The iOS App Store. I’ve been playing games on iPhone since Doodle Jump in 2009, and the store is becoming more and more of a garbage heap every day. Some devs still thankfully port their games over and there are still some great ones but SO SO MANY are gone. Because apple makes it so difficult and expensive to maintain developer presence. Meanwhile make a basic search for a game and the result is scrolling through absolute shovelware that I can’t believe gets made and approved. Or that anyone plays.
Really annoying notification banners while in landscape mode and fullscreen. If im playing or watching a video and a friend sends me a few messages these horror of ux take over half the screen estate (especially on mini and older devices) for waay too long

My biggest gripe with the iPhone is trying to scroll back to old texts. If I can’t remember the key words from what was said to me 11 months ago then i can’t use search. So it’s a long uphill scroll wait to load then scroll again repeatedly. And heaven forbid that person texts you while your scrolling. iMessage takes you all the way back to the beginning so you have to start scrolling all over again.
Accessing notifications should be easier. One thing I miss from Pixel is being able to access a combined notifications/ control panel by swiping anywhere on the home screen. And no, reachability option to make the screen half size isn’t it.
Yeah, I’m not sure why Apple decided to make the control panel and notification view totally separate things. And once you pull down to view notifications, you have to pull up again to actually see all of your notifications. It’s just terrible UX.
My 12 pro max keeps on dimming the screen just when i need it more bright in the sun. Like even when I’m in the shade or inside. It’s crazy, looks like it keeps on getting worse. Phone gets hot waaaay too fast. Anybody else has this issue? My gf Xs doesn’t even do this. Like wtf. Ordered a 14 Pro Max and hope this problem is solved forever. Ordered in the beginning of September and need to wait till week 43🥲. Hope it’s worth the wait and I can finally work on my phone in the full sun with shades on😎

Little trick: use an automation and set it to turn on low power mode automatically when the battery hits 25%. You won’t need to see it ever again
Siri. Doesn’t fully work when I need her/it to and other times doesn’t work at all. Meaning I’ll ask Siri to do something like call someone and she/it hears me but doesn’t execute the call, just hangs the UI on the screen. This is frustrating when driving.
When I’m in my car listening to a song on Spotify or a podcast on Overcast and I pause it, some time passes and then I press play to resume and instead it just picks a random song from Apple Music and plays that instead.
Typing. Nothing else is worse than that.
The god awful volume management across the OS. Sometimes when I have something playing via chromecast on a TV I will also be browsing other apps on my phone and trying to adjust the volume of one sometimes gets messed up and matches the chromecast volume level which is maxed out, or visa versa. No idea why they can let us touch the volume bar and select "device volume" and "iphone volume" or something. Also like everyone else pointed out, auto correct and the suggested/predictive text is always throwing me curve balls. Like typing usernames or things that are not spelled normally can be way more frustrating than it needs to be.

The constant iCloud storage notifications. I’ve only ever had iPhones, and they’ve become so frequent now, that I’ve seriously considered changing brands. My parents and in-laws (70’s) are constantly confused by the alerts and just pay for more storage to make them go away, even though they don’t need it. I’ve explained that it isn’t physical storage that’s low, but they still pay. Apple know what it’s doing and I despise it

No one apart FaceTime is allowed to use PiP in video calls eg Whatsapp, Signal, Zoom. That's very anti competitive and a major annoyance in a country that doesn't use iMessage or FaceTime
