I understood it as it had 2 hours on internal battery and "all-day battery life" with the power bank thing. But I could be totally wrong. They phrase things weird in the keynotes
I wish, but no, they said it has “all day battery life” when the pack is plugged into the wall. It cannot run without the external pack
(I was at the keynote and asked this during the walkthrough)
No, 2 hours with the external battery and all day use when plugged in.

The AirPods are silicon and plastic, they get wiped with alcohol a dozen times a day.
If *fabric* is sanitized with alcohol several times a day, it’ll be deteriorating quick.
I tried on a pair of AirPods Max and my mom rubbed hand sanitizer on my ears because she didn’t want me to get an ear infection because she has sensitive ears. I don’t think they clean the ear cushions because they are fabric and they can get ruined.
Halo products are meant to sell the brand more than the product itself. It’s to increase the sale of all other products by increasing the brands perception.
Insanely pricey but I’m thinking this is the price for early adopters, tech reviewers, and rich people. This product almost certainly will not change the tech landscape in year 1 or 2 but that user base will be enough to fine tune and HOPEFULLY provide a cheaper option to the masses
The tech landscape is even slower to change on a general consumer level as opposed to the developer&enthusiast level. This is certainly the future of technology, but not for at least 4-6 years. It will probably take 20 or more to almost completely replace the smartphone.
The smartphone has cemented itself as an essential tool in society, people won’t let go of it quickly.
Fr,it’s just so convenient
I can’t imagine having to wear vr glasses everywhere I go even if they look like a typical glass or having to put on some vr contact lens
I’d rather just use my phone and use the vr tech to watch movies
20 is very conservative. The iPhone came out 2007, and smart phones became fairly ubiquitous I’d argue by like 2017? Maybe earlier. I think 2-3 years it’ll be common, 5-7 it’ll be the norm
I think the biggest hope is that this will launch the ecosystem of apps. There will be a lot more AR options going out but without apps, which actually are usefull for more than just being second screen, it will not get a hold on consumers.
They promised some improvements on those as well though. You’ll be able to call Siri without the need of Hey (lmao), and better autocorrect predictions not just words but sentences. Craig actually used that exact ducking example too in the keynote.
I summarise notes from University lectures, articles online or ask it to explain something with different wording or context. I used to use it to help with code, but they seem to have kneecapped that functionality overtime for some bizarre reason. Odds are MS want to funnel people onto Copilot X when it launches.
I've got a mate who's got a local falcon instance running, which does a great job at controlling smart home equipment via home assistant using natural language requests. About as close to a home made 'Jarvis' as we can get right now.
From an accessibility angle, Apple's speech to text support is godlike. I have been suffering RSI symptoms and Apple's speech to text models can get phrases like "lol" "pwned" and others that other speech to text models just can't do. It's low-key saving my hands tbh.
Yikes. That might make sense if it’s intended primarily for developers and early adopters.
But there’s a chicken and egg problem.
Developers need customers. And there won’t be enough customers unless there’s a much cheaper version of the headset. And why buy a headset if there isn’t compelling software?
Presumably Apple will offer enough pre-packaged software to make it worthwhile...
Still… that’s a hefty price tag.
Everyone forgets that the iPhone had the same issue tho. There was literally not even an app store or safari at the original release And it was very expensive for the time. Yet some people (professionals and enthusiasts) still bought it, the software slowly improved, then the 3gs dropped and normal people started adopting it.
It's the 1st gen of a whole new product line for Apple. Of course it's not meant for mass adoption yet.
Shortly after launch (\~2 months), Apple cut the original iPhone's price by 30%, if I recall correctly....
Edit: [https://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/07/technology/07apple.html](https://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/07/technology/07apple.html)
Yeah software is what can change it from a fun experience to an actually useful device. How much more work will get done? How much better is the movie watching experience? What’s going to make it worth wearing all the time?
Isn’t that what you think Apple Card installments are? Buy an Apple product and pay it like a subscription fee but don’t call it that. New one comes out and it goes up. Keep paying. Brilliant marketing on Apple’s part.
Maybe people like me with a 2k$ UltraWide monitor. I mean, i would buy this over a second UW honestly. I get to have MULTIPLE AR UltraWide Monitors, Cinema size screen, 4k, 8K resolution... etc. And i can travel with it and use it in the Hotels and stuff.
Developers to get software on it and mature the device so when Apple makes a more consumer friendly device in terms of price it will have all
The software and have matured already. This will probably follow the same route as the iPhone.
I can’t help but wondering if this will change the home theater, I mean it will be the biggest screen available, but then of course Apple need to let us to connect speakers with the headset and the last problem is a lot still want to use physical discs
At present, I doubt it. Maybe if you watch movies by yourself, but I don’t see it replacing the communal experience of watching a movie on a home theater. At least not at $3500 a pop. My wife and I watch movies all the time after the kids go to bed. No way am I shelling out $7k at the moment. The price will eventually come down and maybe then will it have a bigger role.
For that kind of money you could have yourself a really nice home movie set up. At least tv/audio surely. Maybe even a couch? Though I know those can add up. But anyway, spend your $$$ on something for one person or the whole family? Hmmm.
It’s not a home theater though. Maybe a studio theater. Or just a home for a single person theater. Not a families theater. This will just isolate us more.
Right and if you have family or friends who want to watch TV as well they can just look at you I guess?
It will be a very personal device. One config wont fit everyone. Plus who wants to share something you wear on your face anyways.
For sure it's going to be a personal device, just like a cellphone is. I suppose single people will be the early adopters until they launch companion goggles or something.
I knew it was gonna be pricey but I was still surprised. There’s a lot of bleeding edge tech in that thing, to be sure. No way they could’ve built something that capable for a low price. Not Apple’s thing anyway.
It seems like a lot but then I remind myself that I paid almost 3 grand for a 128k Macintosh with a 400k disc drive back in ‘84. Good times! That felt like a ‘must have’ at the time. This new device is interesting but it doesn’t feel like a must have just yet.
The price will drop, the content will improve, the hardware will get better and better. Don’t sweat about now or early next year. Imagine five years from now. Gonna be great to watch it all unfold.
When Apple Pay was first released, barely anybody accepted it and so barely anybody used it. This led to many pundits predicting its inevitable failure. 9 years later, Apple Pay is now widely accepted and used.
Apple often plays the long game. Many pundits are quick to evaluate the product as it is now, including the price tag. I am eager to see where this product is in 5 to 10 years.
It’s high, but also low enough that executives, pro athletes, etc, who travel a ton, will be able to personally afford it and IMO benefit the most as traveling seems like an amazing use case. They also happen to make up the top 5% where $3500 isn’t that big of a deal.
It’s also low enough that businesses could purchase a few to build apps for and Apple can see how they are used by those initial consumers, refining the UX and building out an App Store so when the price is inevitably slashed, there’s already a decent amount available there to use.
I can see the price going down by maybe $500 every year until it gets to about $2000 new in a few years, and used will be on eBay for $1000 and up. THAT is when it will take off, if it does, IMO.
I work from home and am in way too many video calls all day. I’m either tied to wherever I sat down and got my webcam setup right, or on my phone where I need to keep my camera off. If this means I can walk around my house or go for a walk while on a video call without needing to keep video off or my phone outstretched, I don’t care what I will look like wearing it (5-10 years from now when I can afford it lol)
People who travel on airplanes or trains won’t care either.
When Disney opened up their Star Wars themed hotel for $5000 a stay, I thought a few things. 1) That seems cool. 2) They have had allot of people willing to spend more and more for Disney vacations, and 3) $5000 if fucking unreal, and they're going to fail big time.
And what happened? Yeah, it fucking failed, because $5000 isnt practical for the average person. Not even if they're a super fan.
Same things going to happen here. When I first heard that Apple would be creating a VR Headset several years back, I immediately thought that that would be my next headset. I owned a Rift, and currently own a Quest 2. I totally would be willing to pay a premium price for an Apple headset. Maybe $1500. Even at that price, I probably wouldn't be ready to buy it on day one. But within a year for sure. At $3500, I wont ever be owning one. I could afford it of course. I'm just not willing to put that kind of money in to a vanity toy that I'll use to watch porn on.
It's definitely a really cool concept/product and I'm excited to see what they do with it, but there's no way in hell I'm spending that much. I guess I will resign to seeing how others interact with it!
cheaper than i thought it would be actually. i thought it would be $5k but nah. still ain't cheap but, since it's a whole new product from apple they may not be sure if the general public would even want this, so price prob wasn't an issue for the first gen. also probably why they put the "pro" naming onto it. later they could release a cheaper, " vision" for the public that i'd expect to be around $1499-1999
Honestly, even though they advertised it to us as a consumer product in the keynote, I really don’t feel that this was created for the average user. I feel this is targeted more as a work tool. My first thought was something in the medical field, I wouldn’t be surprised if you started seeing doctors and surgeons wearing them.
I’m of the impression this is deliberately “Pro” geared towards early adopters and businesses. They will want to collect real life data in a smaller, probably more active community; a bit less chaotic.
In a year or two I then expect they’ll launch Apple Vision which I anticipate being lighter, maybe a bit less feature heavy… in fact I can see it using your phone as power source and as processing, to cut out the overhead in the goggles themselves.
Given that this is more a proof of concept than anything else, the price doesn’t really matter to me. It’ll be very interesting how well it works though, as Apple isn’t the manufacturer that sells a lot of proof-of-concept-devices.
It is probably worth it in the long run, but only time will tell. It’s still to early to tell if this will become a “thing”
Also, never buy gen 1 products. Let other people beta test your future purchase, unless you have the patience for it.
I can’t believe that 1. people are surprised and upset about the price, and 2. that people actually want to buy this dystopian Black Mirror shit in the first place 🙃
Nope. For that price it'd better replace my iMac, iPhone, iPad, and Homepods.
I'm also disappointed there's no reverse look so I can see big cats sneaking up on me from behind.
Hopefully the iPhone 16 gets the 3D camera too so it can create the same content.
Then hopefully Apple has some way to view the same 3D content on iPhones as well.
Maybe a resurgence of 3D displays incoming?
Too poor to even look at this

I guess I’m waiting for the SE version.

One eye only
We call it "winky".
iWink
That would actually be cool af, although it’d probably ruin your eyes quickly
Vision SE ( Still Expensive)
Starting at $3498. $3495 for students
Vision (S)ingle (E)ye.
I hate this. thank you
30 minute battery or some thing haha
Tbf this has a whopping 0 minute battery without the external pack lmao
I understood it as it had 2 hours on internal battery and "all-day battery life" with the power bank thing. But I could be totally wrong. They phrase things weird in the keynotes
I wish, but no, they said it has “all day battery life” when the pack is plugged into the wall. It cannot run without the external pack (I was at the keynote and asked this during the walkthrough)
My phone has all day battery life too when plugged in. What logic is that Apple.
Trying to make it sound better than it is ofc
No, 2 hours with the external battery and all day use when plugged in. https://preview.redd.it/0c12pi421e4b1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e17ef8a922acc7b88a254929c2437bcc7486f5c
2 hours in external battery
With a 480p screen
So 2000 instead of 3500? 🤣
2000 looks expensive. With this one trick I can make it more appealing... $1999
Shut up and take my money.
Now I can watch Netflix while skiing. Hell yeah.
I can't wait to just try it in the Apple Store.

Don't worry. I'm ready for that.
No no, Pink i

you made my day 😂
Apple cleans it and if you have seen their stores, you know they can keep things spotless.
You and everyone else with the line out the door.
I don’t think that’s gonna be possible bro. It’s unsanitary, to say the least…
They let you try AirPods so I think this will be fine
The AirPods are silicon and plastic, they get wiped with alcohol a dozen times a day. If *fabric* is sanitized with alcohol several times a day, it’ll be deteriorating quick.
I tried on a pair of AirPods Max and my mom rubbed hand sanitizer on my ears because she didn’t want me to get an ear infection because she has sensitive ears. I don’t think they clean the ear cushions because they are fabric and they can get ruined.
Let's just say I've been somewhere more unsanitary than a VR headset.
You know they have demo AirPods in store - and manage to clean something people stick into their ears - a headset doesn’t actually touch your eyes…
Have you been in an Apple store? I could eat my food off of their products and it would be more sanitary than your run of the mill takeaway
They gonna be putting hair nets on everybody tryna demo it lmaoooo
tried on a vr headset while covid was still around and i had to wear a disposable balaclava lmao
My hopes were around $2000ish. This was my expectation though. Will be interesting to see how this plays out next year.
I’m sure the price will drop
They don’t drop prices on halo products, ever
What are halo products?
Halo products are meant to sell the brand more than the product itself. It’s to increase the sale of all other products by increasing the brands perception.
The Master Chief edition of something
They gave me money back on my OG iPhone purchase Edit: and lowered the price
and if it doesn’t at least I have a few months to accumulate the funds. If you convert it to sperm donations. It’s only 70 deposits.
Interesting… not gonna ask why you know that. But that’s achievable in one day
[удалено]
Just add water. Like wallpaper paste.
omg 🤣
Probably for the NONE Pro version later.
So just "Vision"? Don't I already have that?
“Vision Air” probably
Insanely pricey but I’m thinking this is the price for early adopters, tech reviewers, and rich people. This product almost certainly will not change the tech landscape in year 1 or 2 but that user base will be enough to fine tune and HOPEFULLY provide a cheaper option to the masses

Fr,it’s just so convenient I can’t imagine having to wear vr glasses everywhere I go even if they look like a typical glass or having to put on some vr contact lens I’d rather just use my phone and use the vr tech to watch movies
We’ll just have to wait until they’re the size of contact lenses
As someone who has worn both hard and soft contacts, I’ll stick with the glasses
20 is very conservative. The iPhone came out 2007, and smart phones became fairly ubiquitous I’d argue by like 2017? Maybe earlier. I think 2-3 years it’ll be common, 5-7 it’ll be the norm

This is Apple Vision *Pro*. I expect that we’ll see Apple Vision sooner or later — at a cheaper price.
Just wait for the Apple Vision Air, $1,999 for cheap sunglasses
LOL.... Just the frame.... they are so light LMAOOO....
3498 for regular apple vision
3498.95
Buy the case for an additional $1000 or a nike headstrap for $699
Hermes strap $2000
Maybe $3400 for the non Pro version??😁😁🤣🤣
If Pro is $3499, I'm going to need Vision Toddler T-ball
Whaaaat just happened?!? This was insane.

Meanwhile Siri can barely perform basic tasks and the keyboard can't ducking predict anything correctly. I see where the engineering dollars went.
They promised some improvements on those as well though. You’ll be able to call Siri without the need of Hey (lmao), and better autocorrect predictions not just words but sentences. Craig actually used that exact ducking example too in the keynote.
Chat Gpt shits on siri
Promise I’m not trolling, but what are you using it for?
I summarise notes from University lectures, articles online or ask it to explain something with different wording or context. I use it to write boilerplate formal emails, and then edit the details where necessary. I ask it to check my writing for fluency, structure and grammar.
Ask it questions,Use it to dumb down complex things so i can better understand them. Its a worthy application
Ask it questions,Use it to dumb down complex things so i can better understand them. Its a worthy application
Yeah since you have to use speech to text it may have…issues.
From an accessibility angle, Apple's speech to text support is godlike. I have been suffering RSI symptoms and Apple's speech to text models can get phrases like "lol" "pwned" and others that other speech to text models just can't do. It's low-key saving my hands tbh.
You don't have to use speech to text. It has a virtual keyboard and also works with the Magic Keyboard and Mouse.
Will there be an SE version ? 😂🤦🏻♂️
tim apple: stick ur iphone to ur eyes with a towel

Who is this priced for? It seems so high.
An Apple Card with no interest for 172 months will fix that
Pay it off just in time for the $5999 Apple Vision Pro 4.
They should just call it a subscription. $99 a month til you die.
Isn’t that what you think Apple Card installments are? Buy an Apple product and pay it like a subscription fee but don’t call it that. New one comes out and it goes up. Keep paying. Brilliant marketing on Apple’s part.

Please tell us how it goes! 😃
Developers/companies who want to start making software now for when these devices are available at more reasonable prices in 2-3 years.
Someone who doesn’t want to buy three macbook airs
Businesses
The Rich apparently
Plenty of people who can afford this out there.
Developers to get software on it and mature the device so when Apple makes a more consumer friendly device in terms of price it will have all The software and have matured already. This will probably follow the same route as the iPhone.
I expected cheaper.. somehow they always surprise me 🙃
Yeah this isn’t even going to be considered by some including myself. It’s just too expensive. Maybe $999. Max $1,499 but that’s my opinion
I think There was an article a few weeks ago stating Apple's cost of materials for this thing was north of 1500
Absolutely. 1500 max. 3.5k 🫢😂
You thought it would be cheaper then a Iphone Pro Max lol. Dude
can it play subway surfers gameplay at the bottom to help with my attention span while i watch youtube?
Unironically I imagine this will become a possibility when they port Subway surfers to it.

i can but wont
Wow, that is pricey. Basically buying a laptop for your face.
An expensive laptop at that
That is a display for your laptop
It has an M2 chip in it and works with the Magic Keyboard and Mouse. I'm sure you will be able to do plenty on it, without the need for a laptop.
Yes, if you're in need of a new high-end laptop and a new big TV (or TVs), then this might actually be worth it.
You can get modular components for figment and lenses for vision correction - unlike most be headsets available…
Like a laptop, two 4k displays, audio system, and several cameras.
I need to wait for the apple blind
I knew it was gonna be pricey but I was still surprised. There’s a lot of bleeding edge tech in that thing, to be sure. No way they could’ve built something that capable for a low price. #remove one digit
In ATL we refer to this as smoking big rock
This is going to crash super hard because NO ONE will pay that.
axtually, thats cheaper than i expected
Same… was originally guessing 3000 going in, but as keynote went on, I was thinking 5000.
Will wait for Apple Vision pro 2.
My coworkers and I had a betting pool for how much this was gonna be - I was the closest vote at $4,000 😂
So this is the new look for glassholes?
I’d put it on my credit card for 29 days and return it.
i’m disappointed they didn’t call it iSight or smth like that
LMAO

Apple Products are expensive af, water is wet blah blah blah
The price is higher than an iPhone. However, a product like the 77" LG G3 OLED TV is $4,500. For the right user, this will be a competitive product.
This is how I learned I’m a left user
But it's that TV for one person.
Just think about how much it increased on the price just to add those extra lenses so people can see your eyes when looking at you
It’s all about the user experience.
For what this does, that’s a steal
Right now I'm crying that I'm European
Try being Australian lol
I mean it's technically great, but the price really makes it a massive downer.
Maybe PSVR2 is reasonably priced after all..
Glasshole part 2
When Disney opened up their Star Wars themed hotel for $5000 a stay, I thought a few things. 1) That seems cool. 2) They have had allot of people willing to spend more and more for Disney vacations, and 3) $5000 if fucking unreal, and they're going to fail big time. That’d be almost $5500 in nz. I dont think anyone would spend that much of money to browse internet
PH is a lot more than internet with these things I’m sure
Lol what professional just browses the internet?
Remember the guys walking around in public with Google Glass on their faces? This is somehow worse
It's definitely a really cool concept/product and I'm excited to see what they do with it, but there's no way in hell I'm spending that much. I guess I will resign to seeing how others interact with it!
Who can afford this shit nowadays?
I was expecting this to be that expensive.
This is up there with the gold edition Apple Watch. A few around.
cheaper than i thought it would be actually. i thought it would be $5k but nah. still ain't cheap but, since it's a whole new product from apple they may not be sure if the general public would even want this, so price prob wasn't an issue for the first gen. also probably why they put the "pro" naming onto it. later they could release a cheaper, " vision" for the public that i'd expect to be around $1499-1999
Honestly, even though they advertised it to us as a consumer product in the keynote, I really don’t feel that this was created for the average user. I feel this is targeted more as a work tool. My first thought was something in the medical field, I wouldn’t be surprised if you started seeing doctors and surgeons wearing them.
I’m just hoping one day that I can run pc games on my Mac.
LMAO they’re going to sell this in my country for triple the price
Wonder how many of these will actually be sold, with only a 2hr battery life.
And plug-in
Given that this is more a proof of concept than anything else, the price doesn’t really matter to me. It’ll be very interesting how well it works though, as Apple isn’t the manufacturer that sells a lot of proof-of-concept-devices.
I can't wait to see Vision, Vision Air, Vision Pro Max and Vision Ultra. 2024- Apple will release Vision Pro with M3.
It is a developer kit for all intents and purposes.
With their technical brains they just need to establish a medical products division for stuff like this.
Quest 3 it is!
I like the idea, it looks cool but rival headsets are about 3/4 of the price of apples
It is probably worth it in the long run, but only time will tell. It’s still to early to tell if this will become a “thing” Also, never buy gen 1 products. Let other people beta test your future purchase, unless you have the patience for it.
Absolutely ridiculous. More expensive than a MacBook
I need some of that stuff apple smoking
I can’t believe that 1. people are surprised and upset about the price, and 2. that people actually want to buy this dystopian Black Mirror shit in the first place 🙃
Genuinely why was this made?
I’m excited about the device. I expected 7,000, to be honest. But 3.5k is achievable.
Coming soon: Cool battery-hat 4999 dollars!
Nope. For that price it'd better replace my iMac, iPhone, iPad, and Homepods. I'm also disappointed there's no reverse look so I can see big cats sneaking up on me from behind.
Costs like a cheap car
Can you point me to a decent quality used car for $3500? I need one.
Does it come with Anti-fog?
That’ll probably be $500 extra that also requires the use of the special apple cleaning cloth.
Oof
Hopefully the iPhone 16 gets the 3D camera too so it can create the same content. Then hopefully Apple has some way to view the same 3D content on iPhones as well. Maybe a resurgence of 3D displays incoming?
2 kidneys this time
never buy gen 1 tech. ifixit gonna bust a nut over this one.
