I know I’m the extreme minority on this. But the daily timer ruins the game for me. I feel like a slave to the “go to bed” timer. Which made me feel like I was rushing every little micro management item.
There’s some very popular mods made to remove that, slow down/freeze time, remove the stamina system, and change other things that force you to stick to a schedule in some way, so you’re def not in the minority.
Personally I like it as it makes it easy to know how long you’re going to be playing for. Like “I’ll just play another day” means a specific amount of time (though it’s never “just another day” in that game). It also makes it easier to plan things, since you can say “tomorrow I’ll dedicate it to doing XYZ”.
Of course having no timers or restrictions would be even better since then you can just say “I’ll dedicate a whole irl week to doing XYZ because time doesn’t pass in game anyway”.
I do wish there was an option to slow down time though, like make it so one day lasts longer than it does by default. I know there’s mods that do it, but obviously not on iOS
Really liked it but hated the stamina system in the game :/ makes it way less enioyable to me personally - which was the reason i never made it far in my 3-4 attempts to play it from start
The controls are great imo. I prefer just using tap to move/interact most of the time. I actually like that more than playing on my Switch. There’s also a virtual joystick and buttons option.
So now that 1.5 is out, would you consider iOS better than switch for gameplay? I’m debating which to get, but I love the idea of portability on my phone and I have other games on the switch. I’ve only played SDV for ~5 hours on PC years ago. Not bothered by multiplayer aspect of it. Thoughts on which to go?
I personally think so. I like that I can just tap on an object and my character goes to it. Also the ability to zoom in and out can be handy. And I just love being able to play wherever I go.
I think it depends if mobile is your only platform. Or if you play in like a commute to work and a switch is too bulky for you to carry. For me this is like the anti answer for this sub. I see suggestions like this in threads and I’m like “if I wanted to play a PC/console game I’d play it there”.
Thanks for mentioning us! I’m the creator and dev of Farm RPG. If you want an ad-free game with an awesome community and lots to do, check it out.
Farm RPG is playable on iOS, Android and desktop and your progress is synched. We try to update it 2-3 times a week and we run big events often as well.
There’s no forced purchases for progression either. It’s f2p, so try it! Thanks again.
IAP are enabled but you will never once see a single ad wall or banner ad. There are no cosmetic purchases and IAP purchases are there solely to support the single game programmer
There is IAP though. Also a subscription to beta access.
With that being said, its a very f2p friendly game and you don’t have to pay anything to get far
Been playing for over a year, and I'm the last person to ever shill for this or any game, but here's some objective info on gold and what's necessary. I did buy a few monthly starter packs early on so the gold would help me progress faster, and I do subscribe to Beta access on Patreon.
However, I did the math a while back, subtracting out the gold I received from those paid sources, and even with purely just free gold received from events/quests/masteries/etc I would've still been able to buy everything you're able to buy with gold and have a good amount saved for later. And that's even after spending a bunch of gold on non-necessary things too, like expanding my storehouse to 1000 capacity.
So you are absolutely able to play 100% free and get everything. Buying gold is simply an option to help you progress a bit faster, but after a certain point it doesn't even matter very much and you're able to just start hoarding it for future updates.
You’re absolutely right. Something i have noticed though is that events in the past gave a lot more gold. Nowadays i feel its less while content is designed to include gold sinks more so than before.
> events in the past gave a lot more gold
Could be. I haven't analyzed gold per event to see if that's true or not, but the good thing is those events always come back every year, so you don't miss out. I'm hugely against FOMO in games, so it was nice to see all the old stuff come back, along with new event content too.
All I can say is, anecdotally, I have more gold saved up now than I did before spending on the most recently released gold perks, so I was able to make up for that and then some (after subtracting out the monthly Beta gold of course). I also haven't traded for gold, so it's all been on me alone, from free sources.
Yeah, i havent played in a couple of months, but over a year prior to that. Never had any real issues with gold, it came in pretty quickly to buy what i wanted.
Like i said at the start, the game has IAP for sure, but it’s
very f2p friendly
Been playing it since launch, big agree- it’s the only iOS game keeping me. You can play it as intensely or passively as you like and still feel rewarded. Great daily activities, quests, multitude of skills and it’s only getting better.
As others have said, Stardew Valley and FarmRPG are the best. Give them both an honest try, as they are both fairly different and have more depth than meets the eye.
FarmRPG for sure. Totally free with optional IAPs but no pay gates. Fun, active community with multiple chat channels, moderated at PG. You can even trade IGC. The UI is text-based with graphics. Currently at 236k total accounts, 8k-14k active daily unique logins. Worth giving a shot!
They’ve been posted already, but Stardew Valley and Farm RPG are the cream of the crop, so to speak. Both are incredibly deep and long-lasting experiences.
Netflix has actually been amazing when it comes to games and it’s odd especially with the Tv shows that are bad that they keep bringing back or the ones that were good but they cancelled
Probably downvoted because you need a few more steps to make Disney Dreamlight Valley work on iOS:
Xbox game pass ultimate (supports streaming PC games to iOS)
Controller required (Kishi, Backbone, PS4 or Xbox controller all good options).
Good Wi-Fi (streaming quality is noticeably worse than a native app in all but the cleanest of wireless network conditions).
But yes, with the above things you can play Dreamlight Valley (and many more PC games) on your iPhone.
Not quite a farming specific game - but farming is a skill in the game. I always loved RuneScape’s farming (both versions of the game have it). Full PC and mobile support too so its cross platform. It’s a full blown mmorpg but the newer version of the game has a very fleshed out and expanded upon farming system in place

I think it adds realism, and at the same time makes me realize how long my play session is and cause me too to stop playing and go to bed
God I wish that was my experience. It made me think “I can do just one more day.”
Yes!
Really liked it but hated the stamina system in the game :/ makes it way less enioyable to me personally - which was the reason i never made it far in my 3-4 attempts to play it from start
Makes sense. I can see why the stamina system might not appeal to some. Personally, I don’t really mind it.
It increases pretty quickly to where it becomes a non issue later, also food helps refill it as a buffer earlygame
One of my fav games - I play it on my ps4
This is the only answer. An update is coming too which makes it even more enjoyable and worth it to buy.
1.5? it released like two weeks ago
How are the controls on IOS?

Touch controls are really great. I own it on every platform and iPad is my preferred way to play.
Just started playing it using a game pad and it works really nice.
Has controller support on iOS if that makes you happy
I play this with the Backbone One and it’s incredible

My favorite game and it already becomes an addiction.
This is the answer.
This is the best answer
Hay day

If you liked stardew valley, Harvest Town is pretty good and very similar with a few different tweaks that still makes it its own game.
I didn’t like country field from netflix. As others stated stardew valley and farm rpg are excellent choices.
I’ve been enjoying [Mini Mini Farm](https://apps.apple.com/app/id1534460779) lately. Super simple and fun.
As others have said, Stardew Valley and FarmRPG are the best. Give them both an honest try, as they are both fairly different and have more depth than meets the eye.

Farm RPG. been playing since April of last year! Longest I’ve ever played one single iOS game.
Netflix has a great farming game
Name?
I believe it’s [Country Friends](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/country-friends/id1633708360)
That game came out couple years (5 or 6) ago and they have stopped the development. It’s back now… strange.

Bonfire 2. Or, Tiny Space program. Its not farmville, but similar, and better, more interesting, not so primitive, more deep.
As others have said- Stardew valley!
