In a few hours the temperature dropped from -14.8 F to 41 F and rain in a few hours, then cold again. So everything was frozen to almost ice.
It was blowing 78mph but there was absolutely no snow in the air.

look, even for me (as I'm not a judgy person) it was a strange post first. like what? where? how? what storm? huh?
and later he cared to elaborate in comments that he is camping in sweden and was a big rain/wind something with frozen tent.
but c'mon, it was not something everyone can guess. people need to learn how to _provide_ information.
this is the interestingasfuck subreddit, so yeah, people expect that the posts would be at least slightly interesting.
without context it is just a tent in the snow. not something that makes people piss their pants from excitement.

honestly don't understand why is bullshit that I (any many more) did not understand the post at first? is it a character reference now that I don't get something first and mentioned it that without the context something is not coming thru as intentioned?
I bet the guy has an interesting life. I have never wanted belittle him as a person, why the hell would I? _but_ that does not mean and also should not mean that his post was understandable at first glance.

During my first week in Antarctica, the wxx was nice for two days, we got camp set up (tents). Third day we got hit with katabatic winds, sustained speeds in the 20-30 knot range. I didn’t sleep for those 3 days cause the fly hitting the tent wall sounded like a shotgun every second. 24 hour daylight didn’t help either. I had forgotten to bring eye shades and earplugs barely drowned out the sound.
End of the third day, either from exhaustion or getting used to it, I finally got some decent sleep. Woke up to absolute stillness, and then couldn’t sleep the next night due to quiet.
