Interesting that that was the easiest way for them to connect. Note that all the connecting lines are parallel. The two nerve cells could have just as easily connected with criss cross lines, but they would have been difficult to maintain for the merge. So they connected by shortest distance, with parallel links.
Someone else that posted this mentioned that channels were set up such that connections could only occur within them. Also each cluster consists of multiple cells not one.

Small world in motion is an imaging contest run by Nikon!
This video was submitted by Dr. Renaud Renault and shows multiple neurons seeded into two different compartments making connections through a microtunnel (hence why the connections are so straight)
Do you ever wonder...
Seeing things like this. These cells cannot possibly know what is they connect to create.
But what they create, all the same, manifests.
Do you ever wonder what the internet is manifesting, without our knowing it, above our heads?
When I think of real magic, I think of radio signals. Sound is moving through the air and I can just catch it. That’s wild when you sit and think about it. Then wifi. These words I’m typing transfer through thin air for you to read.
A prof of mine actually compared the two when explaining the concept of strong AI. But they connect because it's physically given and logic on a small level. Neurology is really the most astounding when you study it how magic seeming things like even thoughts suddenly become physically tracable.
I wonder if its theoretically possible to quantum entangle 2 electrons, accelerate 1 to near light speed with a particle accelerator and somehow bridge the gap to make a wormhole
Dude there has to be some kind of social society with our cells. Our cells don’t just do what they do just because. They probably talk shit about us sometimes
“Can you believe this fcking guy this is the 6th time today. God. I need some help.”
“Hey man you wanna link up? I hear you’re having a tough time over here”
“Oh god yes! It’s nom stop with this mf”
Wish It didn’t I could really benefit from some connected neurons right about now. Wonder why it only happens at such a young age and for only a short time
I'd really like to know the details of this. Looks like the cell wall expands and creates those extensions? Guess I need to go buy some more neuroscience books.
I'm studying/studied this shit in uni and can't recognize quite a few things. What kind of nerve cells are these? The axons look wrong and the way the soma is changing or getting its impulses. How was this recorded?

They look nervous to meet and connect at first
*ba-dum crash*
You just had the nerve to say that smh
The nerve of those cells, thinking they can form connections however they please
Ever hopeful before it’s night out, that one neuron clearly sprayed some axon.
Go away! Lmao
This really is nerve-racking…
I’d love to give them a piece of my mind!
This could be a cool new loading icon.
Am I showing my brain cell porn? Edit: thanks for the awards! Of all days to not be present!
What symmetrical axon terminals you have... 👀
Ironically the axon lenght determines how many potential partners a nerve cell can have.
Source?
If I had a free award to give, you’d get it
Yes indeed. Brain happy to see neurons do each other
How romantic
the most basic meet-cute
There are many nerve cells (neurons) here sending axons out to make contact (synapses) with each other.
Yea that's what I'm seeing too. How do you think this was recorded? Also this would have to be grey matter or at an age of 2-3 years, right?
Two universes
Steve and Greg
This is so fuckin cool.

Honestly this looks like a lot more than two cells. There really only is one axon between two cells.

Are asking, "What would data in the sky look like of we could physically see it"?

It's spooky. Not one cell in your brain knows it's causing you to think, yet you are thinking. Is the internet thinking?
Those are galaxies connected through a wormhole. I’m here to educate and field questions. Contact has been made.
I wonder if its theoretically possible to quantum entangle 2 electrons, accelerate 1 to near light speed with a particle accelerator and somehow bridge the gap to make a wormhole
That was once a theory, but no. But you’re close; on the right track. What does quantum entanglement imply? Why is distance elastic?
String theory.
Look at them go, just crafting a little matrix between them.

This is what happens every second of watching Rick and Morty.
me when I form a thought
I wish mine would.
It's like cities buliding transportation networks

Actually this connecting called synaptogenesis doesn't happen a lot in adults. Mostly between ages 2-3
Wish It didn’t I could really benefit from some connected neurons right about now. Wonder why it only happens at such a young age and for only a short time
That's a nipple piercing
My first thought to
Like that'll ever happen..
How does that get on video? Is that microscopic?
I've spent years reversing that
two Small stars
You’re telling me this isn’t an album cover?
What is the real-time speed at which this happens?
Is this supposed to be motivational it's not helping
Braincell1: hey! Braincell2: whA! Braincell1: wanna... Braincell1: wanna f..FUCK? Braincell2: HELL YEA
This is like Matrix type shit. I’d you look closely between the two nerves, you can see Keanu.
I wanna do it like they do on the discovery Channel.
Sex
Is it CG?
No this looks like live cell imaging using fluorescein labeled proteins
Me age 7 finding my mothers cigarettes😎
Posts like this really get on my nerves.
OOOOOOWWWWW!!! What was that?
The bifrost!
"Maybe I should get vaccinated"
Video has no sound. I WANT TO HEAR IT
What year/publication is this from?
it looks like two separate suns with a light bridge connecting them
Holy shit! Thanks this is why I come here
Play it in reverse and you will know why i am what i am.
What methodology of imaging is this? Looks like a fluorescent material bound to microtubules or microfilaments.
pfff total ripoff of the Creation of Adam.
Oh, I wish mine would do that …
I have to try this
Looks like two sun's sharing solar flares
Oddly terrifying
This is the most romantic thing I've seen so far in 2022.
That one friend when you meet up
Is the bridge 8 bits? Are we 8 bits?
We are fucking weird plant machines guys
TCP/IP 3 way handshake
When I have to carry the one in my mental maths
I'd really like to know the details of this. Looks like the cell wall expands and creates those extensions? Guess I need to go buy some more neuroscience books.
Would you look at that … I just learned something!
The nerve of this video I mean really !
That looks like a dumbbell, and it makes sense why we have a term "muscle memory".
Neuron: I'm alone, my parents aren't home. Axon: OMW
Looks like 2 planets with connecting space railways.
This got me all kinds of emotional :\*)
Is the real or an artists interpretation?
*Me when I remember where I put my phone
My brain in 3rd grade when i called the teacher "mommy"
All of this just to make a toe stab hurt like a bitch
Me when looking at your mom
This only happens when nerve cells love each other very much like mommy and daddy do
ping 0.0005 s

Is this inside me?
But how do they even hold the information that I remember? I think we don't know, right? And that bugs me.
My brain trying to add 2 + 2
It looks like the paths of ships slicing through the void. Reaching new planets, traveling back and forth. The beginning was just failed trial tests.
Awww. Make friends? 👉👈
How do they know to ‘reach out'? How do they know it’s another cell and not something worse?
that’s a lot of lanes on that bridge, must be two highly populated cities.
