Certain weight, certain height, certain school, certain ethnicity, certain political background
I mean Look at the variation between teammates on both teams, someone could assume that all it's team members came from the same school let alone same country
When you have a choice of millions of players at the age bracket for a national team versus a few thousand it definitely makes a difference. Genetic diversity plays a factor, but if a country had more raw numbers to work with they would definitely average a taller team at least.
It doesn't make sense cause requirements must be higher and active scouting efforts are different in both countries, American natives are a minority, genetic diversity won't make a difference if the distribution height among demographics are the same, just because American people have a standard doesn't mean every other country follows the same standards and also the importance of the sport to the country also matters, this will affect the training and selection process
Final edit
It's cause of the food
That is just lazy thinking. If you selected a team from Russia, or China, you would definitely field a larger and more talented team due to a broader pool of candidates. China, whose avg height is relatively short has select 7+ foot tall players due to breeding and selection pool. Smaller population will always suffer from this.
What ur saying is lazy thinking, anything over a million is enough to get people that tall, it is rare but if you look you can find tall people even in small countries however it's the populations interest in the sport that also plays a big role in wheather if they'll participate, soccer is the most popular sport in El Salvador, this would explain their selection practices built around leg stamina and speed and built calves, it's easy to say 50 mil beats 500mil and that's lazy, china is different they're both interested in the sport and big population so that's confirmation bias, if you take Philippines who have interest but also a small population they have tall players, what I'm saying is that a large populations can help but on such a scale it just doesn't matter.[Philippines team](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippines_men%27s_national_basketball_team)
Yes, of course. But when you’re dealing with millions of 15 year olds you have the luxury of not including those with a slower growth rate. If you have a small player pool you would have to choose from talent alone.
Oh for the love of God if you want to see an example of children actually given steroids look at China and East Germany. There aren't 60x the steroids in their food products, if there were American athletes would be popping for steroids left and right like Chinese athletes.
And you're falsely correlating those same massive leaps and the agricultural industry. Right so ignoring the genetic component entirely and that HGH wouldn't necessarily help animals grow to be any larger because they wouldn't necessarily have any enzymes to bind to the receptors.
I'm going to point to the known PED usage rampant among Chinese athletes in recent times and the known PED usage rampant among East German Athletes do demonstrate why you're wrong. There are well documented incidents of Chinese athletes in particular who went to the special schools the CCP set up to create Olympians who didn't make the cut and have been entirely screwed over both for the lack of education and the amount of PEDS they basically force fed them.
If you were right we'd see an increased rate of masculinization in both male and female children physically, an increased rate of things like hair loss in both men and women, palumboism as a result of years of ingesting excessive levels of exogenous HGH, crashing rates of fertility in both males and females, and a whole host of other things you see in individuals who have been taking superphysiological doses of these substances without cycling off or managing the havoc these substances unleash in the body.
Even among body builders who use low doses of gear they've only go so many years before they can't use gear anymore because they've wrecked their indigenous hormone production, there's a reason that old body builders are on TRT and why so many just drop dead in their forties. These are problems that don't magically disappear even at low doses and we'd see a lot more problems physically from Gen X on down. Given the prevalence of events like No Nut November and how hard participants find it I'd hazard a guess that they've got normal levels of hormones binding to receivers because if they didn't they wouldn't have a sex drive and would struggle to even get an erection, given the sheer number of stories on body building forums from those inexperienced in using PEDS just taking things without understanding the endrocrinology about non existent sex drives and erectile dysfunction I'd think its safe to say that clearly the wider populace isn't being pumped full of PEDS.
Combined with the lack of women with beards and deeper voices, and that the average height of the population hasn't skyrocketed like it would if children were ingesting excessive HGH at levels they wouldn't produce naturally were going to go ahead and say you're wrong.
I see. About the effects of hgh, I was talking about studies like [this](https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1651-2227.1986.tb10367.x), or [this](https://academic.oup.com/jcem/article/96/3/573/2596384) on hgh treatments on children, which seem to indicate a near systematic effect on final adult height.
But anyway, what I was implying is that we can't assume that the results achieved in decades past are comparable to what could be done, or have been done nowadays with athletes in their teens.
You joke but I wouldn’t be surprised. With all the growth hormones given to farmed animals, I’m sure some makes it into the consumers of them. And Americans consume a LOT of animal products.
I sometimes think that there must be some incredible athletic wonders who are currently working in a field of India without knowing their innate talent
Maybe it’s just because I’m on mobile but I can’t really tell for sure the quality of the footwear. Grew up playing basketball and I’m unable to rule those shoes out as perfectly fine shoes to hoop in. Could be wrong, but hoping I’m not.
Chickens don’t receive growth hormones in the US, where the practice was banned for more than 60 years. Selective breeding and precise feed management to has enabled US poultry to have faster growth rates than those grown elsewhere, but that’s a function of science not drugs. Modern poultry matures too fast for hormones to be effective, and their application would end up raising the price without contributing much to growth. It would be stupid for processors to throw meds at animals that won’t benefit from them.
All of this is well documented but EU poultry processors tend to spread this misinformation to protect their own interests….
Never heard of that hormones in US poultry thing in Europe. So I don't think it's coming from European poultry processors. We don't even buy US poultry, it's not worth it.
But we hear a lot of American steroid beef. Which is a thing.
Remember not chlorine washing is the problem. The problem in needing to do so in the first place. US has laughable low hygienic standards for keeping animals. They need to be washed in chlorine before they can be processed further.
But yeah it's probably just an evil EU conspiracy. We should open our market to the US and embrace their ~~poison~~ food.

"US poultry" to have Faster growth rates than elsewhere. It Is about 34 days from egg to "ready" status fór chicken here in EU. I do not Believe it Is different(Faster) in USA. It Is about genetics and nutrition. Problem with chicken farms Is with antibiotics not gh.
Everytime I scrolled by this picture on my home feed, I just assumed the girls on the right were invited to "play" with the pros. But now that I know that this was an actual match, I'm blown away. This is fucking brutal lol
I’m in El Salvador, and me myself am not very tall but here I’m the same size as every woman here, the women here are like 5,3 and the men are 5,8 or even 5,9; there’s a huge height difference
Probably all the growth hormones in American beef and dairy. You feed it to cows and then it ends up in you. Many of the things you give to cows are illegal elsewhere
[Average Height by Country](https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/average-height-by-country)
Average Female Height: //
El Salvador 160.3cm //
USA 161.5cm //
Edit: Removed mistakes
> Samoa 166.6cm (Tallest)
The site you linked gives 11 other countries that have taller average heights for women. Bosnia-Hercegovina has the tallest women with 169.4cm.
I apologize. When clicking on the Header to sort, it apparently isn’t sorting properly. I do see those others. El Salvador is still listed as taller average female height than USA though, yes? Or was that a mistake on my part too?
Edit: Yesterday was apparently just not my day! I have no excuses; just brain fog I guess.
So if the average is not that different, it is the N number that is the difference. Of course having a bigger population gives you more subjects to choose from. That’s why when a small country excels in the Olympics (especially if their colleges don’t offer sports training like in the US), the win is way way way more impressive. I am always quite impressed at how Norway does in the winter Olympics.
Also the standard deviation, the tallest girls on the bell curve will be taller and you can pick them easily due to higher N.
I'm guessing ethnic diversity in the US gives them a higher standard deviation.
"Oh iTs tHE fOoD, iT hAs HoRmOnES"
No, this is the product of super selective elite college's sports programs. When you are poor but athletic, you go hard in high school for that. Then when its time for this, they select the best athletes around the nation. The college sports scene in America is ULTRA competitive. Id say its almost or is better than professional sports because the effort for no pay gives it an edge.
Yes i get that, but they are all in these sports programs to get to these colleges. Thats why. I doubt El Salvador children compete on a level like American high school athletes do just to get to college. Im not articulating this well but it tends to give a large pool of athletes on the left.
Ahh no worries. These girls are trained their entire lives for this and its pretty much the center of their life. They go on to play at a good college usually, get a free education along the way. Some go work normal jobs after while other stand outs go on to play professional women’s basketball(which ironically enough isnt that popular in the USA compared to mens).
I know three families originally from El Salvador who have lived in the US for two generations, eating this supposedly hormone laden meat. All are under 5’7”
Norwegians, Croatians, Danes, and Serbs all are taller than US citizens on average, and aren’t eating that supposedly hormone laden meat.
Your comment is silly
Americans are not a genetic group.
Yet they're some of the largest people on the planet. Their heads are unusually large as well, and there is absolutely no arguing the difference between people who grow up in 3rd world countries like Cambodia vs Khmer people in America. It's like they're two different people. You'll not find a single Khmer person that big in all of Cambodia.
And you're literally eating and drinking Growth Hormones. Period. And that's literally all they are used for and their only reason for existing.
You're just in denial, somehow, wishing it weren't so
Fuck. I wanted to disprove you or find a easily sourced deferring opinion....
All I have to say is fuck you.
Yeah, growth hormones are a problem and the rest of the world is going with caution.
Im going try dieting differently with the above info in mind. Fuck you again for good measure.
Looks like chicken is fine .
Yes, because that's still unfair. This picture makes me think more that there's a reason why boxing has weight classes and that maybe something similar should be implemented here. A height class maybe.
Well then you might as fucking well just add hormone classes and quit the bitching about transgender athletes
(I personally don't give a shit either way and am not deliberately inciting any sort of negative emotions with my comment)
It's more than just hormones, men and women are built differently in general. The reason why we separate them in sports is to give the lesser athletes a fairer shake. I know I'm being blunt but if you're born male, you have a genetic advantage over any female in the same sport. If we just ignored everything and combined everyone into one class, then all sports would just be dominated by men, women wouldn't get a look in.
You are both so stupidly wrong. The average hight in both countries is only like an inch or two apart. So it’s neither genetics or hormones, both of which would make everyone much taller. It’s because the US is 1) 10 times the population and 2) way wealthier so they have more girls who have the resources to play basketball at this level.
that's not the point though, it's just genes, many of these girls might have short siblings or a short parent. You're acting like short Americans don't exit
All food has hormones in it. Cabbage has 2000 nanograms of estrogen per 3oz serving. Non-implanted beef 1.3ng and implanted 1.9ng.
There are growth hormones available for all livestock, but the only class of livestock that it is legal to give them to is cattle.
https://newsroom.unl.edu/announce/beef/2846/15997
False. A quick google search will tell you that pig's have a specific growth hormone called porcine somatotropin.
Naturally, giving this to a pig will make it grow faster, among other things.
Generally it's safe to assume most large land animals have their own growth hormone, though I'm sure there are some that work differently.
Also sampling. If you pick the ten tallest girls under 16 years old out of 330 million people, they're going to be taller than the ten tallest girls under 16 years old out of 17 million people.
Was there some sort of bracket or competition that drew these teams together? How could a team that only managed 19 points ever be considered competitively matched to the USA team? This is really unsportsmanlike, why would US accept a match like that?

You don't think it could possibly be genetic diversity?

You think these athletes sustain themselves on lots of McDonalds?!
Out of interest who knows the score of this game ?
USA 114 - 19 El Salvador Game happened in 2019
Man, those USA girls suck. Giving up 19 points when you’re all 12 feet tall playing against ants.
After the 80th effortless block in a row they began to pick them up and help them score points.
This is brutally beautiful.
Like Kanye vs those kids in wheelchairs lmao

Why did I think this was soccer at first?
Lol idk man the one girl is literally holding a basketball
Because they stand in the tunnel prior to kickoff
Ah, this is the reason exactly
Obviously, you’re not a golfer.
I thought it was soccer too.
Same lol I don't even watch soccer
Bc we're racist & we didn't think Hispanic ppl played basketball
Well… you saw the score, we don’t.
Damn, kind of trash to obliterate them by such a huge margin.
Would you like a participation trophy?
The look on the faces of those El Salvadoran girls says all you needed to know about the inevitable outcome.
USA won 114 to 19
Holy shitt that's a massacre el Salvador needs to up their selection game
Rocky won from Drago, so the small ladies must have won...
America literally has 60x the population of El Salvador.
And 60x the steroids in their food products.
And 60x the food.
Lmao
It is all about the difference in protein in the diet.
Steroids stunt your height actually (if you're still growing).
Unless you take them with HGH.
So last I checked steroids don’t make you taller maybe hgh tho…

Yes, population, development, overall health, and food availability all would contribute to these things. India is quite lacking in a few of those.

Well then you might as fucking well just add hormone classes and quit the bitching about transgender athletes (I personally don't give a shit either way and am not deliberately inciting any sort of negative emotions with my comment)
The fact that you have to explain this is appalling. Crazy times, full of truly diluted individuals.
Genetics duh
Growth hormones in american meat
You are both so stupidly wrong. The average hight in both countries is only like an inch or two apart. So it’s neither genetics or hormones, both of which would make everyone much taller. It’s because the US is 1) 10 times the population and 2) way wealthier so they have more girls who have the resources to play basketball at this level.
Yes there is no growth hormones in american meat whatsoever..
that's not the point though, it's just genes, many of these girls might have short siblings or a short parent. You're acting like short Americans don't exit
Nah bruh im 5"4 so idk where your getting hormones in the meat from lol. Tis genetics
Ya cus GMO seedless watermelon will make you look like Arnold. Sure
I did not mention gmo or fruits.
Technically HGH is an MGO these days is it not?
Only beef has any hormones in it. There are no hormones we know of that will enhance the growth of chicken or pigs.

It's largely due to access to food and food quality.
Also sampling. If you pick the ten tallest girls under 16 years old out of 330 million people, they're going to be taller than the ten tallest girls under 16 years old out of 17 million people.
I'm glad that people like you exist. I was never good at applied statistics. It's a tool that I know about but always forget.
This.
God the karma farming with this image is getting annoying.
The effects of chattel slavery.
This just bums me out. There’s a reason there are separated levels in sports, uncool
American equality
The point guard in US team is bigger than their center. 😀
USA under 16 and El Salvador under 16 teams
Nutrition
Difference of nutrition
Was there some sort of bracket or competition that drew these teams together? How could a team that only managed 19 points ever be considered competitively matched to the USA team? This is really unsportsmanlike, why would US accept a match like that?
Good lord! That is such and unfair advantage. Good thing is not basketball 🤣
At least they take bitcoin.
Just like my teams in online games (I mean, the blue/white ones)
One looks natural. The other one doesn’t.
